We reviewed the bike through London’s busy urban jungle. This eCargo bike can hold a total weight of up to 200 kg, including the rider, making it suitable for all of the family.
The cargo area measures 600 x 450 mm and comes with a customisable transport box. Due to the state of the art front and back suspension, your load (or children) will stay safe on bumpy ground and cushioned from big knocks during transit. Thanks to the slack seat angle, you’re low enough to place your feet firmly on the ground when necessary. You nailed the issue straight away, security. I have tested this bike in Cambridge. I loved it. Totally worth the investment. I really want one and might even order that lovely electric hub. However, I am stumped because we know we wouldn't have it for long..At the moment we have a 'BellaBike' which is like the dark ages compared to Riese and Muller. We do have unground secure garage too, but everywhere we go in Cambridge we have to accept the high risk for having the bike stolen. Unless you have secure parking from A-B you have to expect that will happen. We could fit a GPS tracker, but I don't want to have to chase the thieves. So for now we are still using our BellaBike which is so uncool no-one wants to steal it. It also helps to have the 'pod' full of kids stuff (the Bellabike is a tricycle with a generous front pod) to deter thieves. I'm so frustrated! I could be one of your customers. I know if you remove the electric controller they can't use the motor. But they will still steal it. Wish Riese and Muller designed a bike for cities full of bike thieves. Any solutions? I've researched locks and all can be cut quickly with a grinder. Until the police treat cycle crime seriously we are stumped.
Nick, thanks for your comments! Yes, the Riese and Muller is the perfect eCargo for any family experience. Security is certainly high on the list of priorities for buying an eCargo bike. There are things you can do in order to protect your bike... these include motorcycle grade locks, eBike insurance and tracking devices. If you do have that GPS tracker, the police will do the detective work so you don't have to! Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you and the family are well.
@@FullychargedUK I love your business and I wish you well. So sorry for the moans about security. It's a real issue though. I don't want to involve myself with criminals. So I don't want a tracker. I don't want the hassle of having to deal with the police. They are not always helpful. I looked into motorcycle security locks and they can still be cut with a grinder. So I have come to the conclusion that we will have to move to a low crime area. I'm thinking of moving to Suffolk (we used to live there) picking a village just outside of a town and cycling in. The issue there is mad drivers forcing you off the road. So I am researching which pavements we could cycle on and whether there are any off road paths we could use. This is where this bike really excels, it loves the dirt tracks. Perhaps I should just move to Copenhagen and be done with it!

I got the Benno Boost, and put my 7 year old child on the back. We got rid of our second family car! I use the phrase “life changing” also. It’s amazing how much better it has made life when making trips within a 5 mile radius.

That's really a good point you brought up with being able to stop and do things on the way. Everytime i am on the bike shopping is much easier the only problem is weight and bulk. Looking at cargobikes for my family now.

You are a great friend, a family bike and in addition to walking the children, it has many advantages; Like saving fuel to avoid pollution and the exercise you do while driving that gives you aerobic resistance and is very good for the heart and arterial system, a really wonderful solution.

Absolutely love this video! I have had the Load 75 (3 seat option) for just over a month and it is by far the best purchase I have ever made! The freedom it gives you around the city and beyond is fantastic! Yes, they're expensive but it is such a worthwhile investment as the enjoyment you'll get from it over the years will be priceless. This video captures it perfectly.

Fantastic bit of kit, I don’t have any kids to cart about and manage with an ebike and panniers but I wish I could come up with some some sort of justification for a cargo bike becaise I just want one :)
