YEESSS, played by Lonette McGee (Sister), Irene Cara (Sparkle), Dawn Smith (Delores), and Phillip Micheal Thomas (Stix) who had us screaming in the theater every time the camera zoomed in on those pretty green eyes! 😍🥰
@@Mystique2u Yeess, I was a lil kid when Sparkle came out, but when I did see the movie, Irene Cara became one of my crushes! It took me some time to figure out that Michael Thomas was the same guy in Miami Vice, lol.
Aretha sung this song!!! I remember when I lived in New York, you would hear everyone blasting it on one of those console stereos!! It sounded sssoooooo good!! I loved the original movie but Aretha did it justice!!! The whole album is the bomb! Just beautiful! 🤩 ❤❤❤
She never disappoints! The legendary Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin! Great reaction from Ashley! 👍🏽😎❤️🔥 The request is double 🔥 FIRE! Thanks 🙏🏼 so much! 👏🥰👍🏽😎🎵🎶🎤🎼💿🎧
And produced and is a classic soundtrack to the movie sparkle. But you already know that curtis was in his production bag during this era, creating masterpieces
Ashley, you are experiencing one of the all-time icons of soul music here. Considered one of the greatest to ever do it, she had 22 number one hit songs. Rolling Stone Magazine named her the greatest singer who ever lived. When you listen to her, you understand why she was known as the undisputed Queen of Soul. Aretha Franklin is on the Mt. Rushmore of R&B and Soul music. DESPITE this, she is ALSO an example of how you should NEVER give up, because despite the levels of greatness she ultimately achieved, her very first breathru hit song, "Respect" came on her ELEVENTH album.
This is taking me back to the original movie Sparkle. I'm still getting flashbacks of "Stix", played by Phillip Michael Thomas with those pretty green eyes! 😍🥰
I love her! My favorite song of hers is from the Soundtrack of the movie, Waiting to Exhale. It’s Hurts Like Hell. ❤ Rest in Peace The Beautiful Queen of Soul!
Hi Ashley I’m a almost 66 year old Grandma of 3 mother of 5 . I really enjoy your reactions to the music you play that I love and grew up with in Brooklyn NY . I now live in Decatur GA and now wheelchair boud so the music you play is really very special to me. Keep on playing that music & clicking that pen . Thank you from a former Friday & Saturday night club girl ❤ 💃🏽🥂 🎊 🎶
From the original movie "Sparkle" made in 1976 and remade with Whitney Houston, Jordan Sparks and Mike Epps. I prefer the original movie with the original cast members Irene Cara and Philip Michael Thomas who sang together. Love both movies tho. At first people wanted the original cast to make the album for all the songs but of course, Ms. Aretha Franklin put it down and made another masterpiece. No other artist has a voice like Ms. Aretha. She was truly one of a kind, may she rest in holy peace. If you get a chance to see the original movie Ashley rent it because you will love it!
Please watch the original "Sparkle" where Lonette McKee (a Detroiter like Ree), the late Irene Cara and Dwan Smith sang all of the songs in the movie but the label wanted a more recognized name for the soundtrack, hence Aretha was tapped to do the recording.
This is from Sparkle Movie Soundtrack Album (So Good) other tracks off the album I love "Sparkle" .. "Look into Your Heart" "Hooked on Your Love" all sang by Aretha Franklin .... En Vogue did an outstanding cover in 90's (Must React to their 90's music video) ... But the scence from the Sparkle move (1976) th-cam.com/video/Jl1xDS3JL4o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KC4Sp82FkIY73kIf where they use actress real voices Lonette McKee & Irene Cara ... (Loved the movie big time)
She may have done the soundtrack but the movie version was better (Irene Cara, Lynette McKee, Phillip Thomas..etc. 1976. The version with Whitney was trash.
That is your opinion concerning the movie version vs the soundtrack both done by Mr. Mayfield. Your opinion the second movie is also your opinion, but I happen to agree with you.
You have to realize the Album by Aretha was a cover , yes written by the Great Curtis Mayfield. As a person who lived in that era and saw all of this. Yeah, it may be opinion. Accept it as such.
@remills1714 How was it a cover when he produced the album which was released simultaneously with the movie? Especially since the album is called Sparkle and the album is the actual soundtrack to the original movie which is stated on the Sparkle album, and thats a fact! Just say you prefer the movie version and not the soundtrack!
Nothing better than the ORIGINAL! Envogue was good, and the eye candy was on point, but the Queen is untouchable!

Aretha is Queen!!!
Aretha voice was 1 of 1! So much soul in her body.

The amazing Queen of Soul squeezes my heart every time.
What makes Luther and Aretha the best is the voice control.
She never disappoints! The legendary Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin! Great reaction from Ashley! 👍🏽😎❤️🔥

The whole soundtrack is wonderful ❤
Soundtrack from the movie Sparkle, old school soul
Fantastic original! Now you have to check out “Rock Steady”.
Yes Indeed!
She’s singing this song! 🔥
The Queen 👑 👑👑🎼🎼🎤🎤

Happy New Year's To you and your family
I love this version more than envogue remake
Curtis Mayfield is someone you should definitely explore. He worked with Aretha and the Staple Singers and had his own hits.
EnVogue does a fine cover
Entire Soundtrack to this film…🔥🔥
Curtis Mayfield wrote the hell out of this song!
Start the Day off Hot!!!
Soundtrack to the movie sparkle watch it The original movie not the remake
En Vogue did a remix to this song also!!!
That video was so exciting to me as a youngster... we didn't have the internet back then, lol
❤
@AshleyReacts You should react to The Temprees - Out Of My Reach
🧡🔥🔥🔥

Didn't CURTIS Mayfield write or produced this 🔥 🔥
Love your reactions. Could you react to "Wild and Loose" by "The Time?"
Can you react the group Intro's songs Come Inside, Let Me Be The One, Love Thang, & Ribbon In The Sky!!!
I like the version from the 1976 movie with Lonette McKee, Irene Cara, etc. Loved the original movie not so much the remake.
Me too, I remember at 19 going to the movies to see it and falling in love with Philip Michael Thomas.....LOL
See the original in the movie
Why do you call it the original? Curtis wrote the score for the movie and the soundtrack that Aretha sings.
Who's Zooming who?
EN VGOUE❤
She may have done the soundtrack but the movie version was better (Irene Cara, Lynette McKee, Phillip Thomas..etc. 1976. The version with Whitney was trash.
Absolutely but Hooked On Your Love is my favorite

Because the movie came out first. The album was an after thought. Otherwise it would have been THE soundtrack.
