I know that the lyrics of "Dear Hardstyle" might sound very corny. But there's actually some meaning behind it. The track is by Showtek. Back in the early days of the genre, they were the definitive largest artist in the scene. But then they dropped out of the scene, and focused on Big Room. Last year they made their comeback, and that track was expressing their love for the genre. I think it was beautiful, and definitely made me tear up when I heard it live for the first time. Defqon is an amazing experience, and I can recommend it very much!
Saw em live this summer in August after waiting for 17 long years since I last missed my chance due to illness, I ugly cried the whole 50minutes, best weddinggift a woman could give her man, no doubt!
@@SRNT-btw true sorry to hear that I had a opportunity to go and see DJ delete before he passed never got to see him Nd never will again rip Ryan Biggs(delete)
Also some answers to the questions you had: - Defqon 1 is a 4-day festival in Biddinghuizen (the Netherlands) - The "Womp Womp" sound at the very end where you wondered what it was is the Q-Dance sound (the company behind Defqon) - The "gods" were each once a centerpiece of the stage in previous Defqon editions. This years stage was done as a 20 year celebration. - "Dear Hardstyle" while I agree the lyrics are corny af (as in most hardstyle) has a bit of backstory. The producers (Showtek) were some of the OG hardstyle artists wayy back in the day. They then left the scene for a long time and only recently came back to the genre, so the track has a bit more meaning behind it.
I have lots to say about this video. First of all thank you for checking out the Endshow and yes, it's kind of weird how the "Endshow" is not technically the end of a 4-day festival but that's just how they do it. During the video you asked about the totems, the pillars in the crowd. They in fact have speakers on them and they all play music. The proper music term is delay stacking and the totems are placed in such a way that the waves from each speaker does not create an echo, they are also placed under a specific angle which helps with that as well. Because of that Defqon can lower the dB in the back saving our ears and speakers. When it comes to Dear Hardstyle and how cheese some of the lyrics are... well ye. There are many people that visit Defqon each year, being there for every edition and just taking it in as it is but there's also huge amount of people that go there once or twice in their entire life because for them it means travelling across the globe for example and that costs shit ton of money. There are people that in that moment, during that track or the entire festival with each song they create a memory and experiences, even if they don't know yet but with each passing day, week, month or year this will come to mean something to them. And it makes sense that Showtek wrote that song out of all the other artists, they stopped producing hardstyle in 2012 and they recently got back to it with an album '360 Blue' (which I highly recommend, I think it's going to suit you perfectly). You briefly asked about DJs at Defqon1, there are and there are many many MANY of them. There are scenes called after their colors: Red, Blue, Black, UV, Magenta (with silent disco subscene), Indigo (with silent disco subscene), Yellow, Green, Gold, Orange, Silver and many others with over 350 different artists with their acts. So there's literally something for everyone there. Endshow, Spotlight(special highlighted performance, artists is picked each year to make a mega special show for their set) and Closing Ritual are prerecorded mix of music that (usually) are not out yet and are first played, showcased during that set and then later released under the Q-dance label. Anyway, have fun listening to hardstyle, community is HUGE and we all welcome new recruits.
Dude. Not reacting to Qlimax will be a crime seriously. In November we had the last edition ever :(. The Qlimax is the birthplace of Hardstyle genre. I recommend you to check out 2022 aftermovie or Wildstylez & Noisecontrollers set from 2024 as you can witness the "Opening" with stage reveal etc. But will be kinda risky cuz there are some Project One songs and u can get copyright strike so the safer can be B-Front & Phuture Noize set from 2024. But tho u really need to check out that stage reveal.
He will, eventually (I guess) Just let him get up to date, remember that before Qlimax 2024, there was Defqon, that includes all the editions before 2024, or at least the most important ones
One thing to realize with the phones and people not going crazy is that the Endshow can be a pretty overwhelming experience and that people already have been going crazy for 3 days and still have 1 day yet to come. Its a lot, but in the end all worth it.
Throwing him in the deep end aye..? May as well get him to start with "GPF"😅 hardstyle till I die☠️❤️🙏🏾but yeh man agree 100% power hour is insane 1 hour of madness love it
The endshow was for sure the biggest one. However, the shows on the other nights were nearly as big too. Thursday: The gathering On a smaller stage, but the fireworks and lasers expanded over the entire festival ground. Friday: Spotlight with Sefa and a full choir on main stage. Saturday: End show and Power Hour Check out Power Hour, you might have a lot of fun watching that. Sunday: Closing ritual Another amazing show to bring it all to a grand finale Check those out, you will not be disappointed.
Also worth mentioning imo since he was asking if these were iconic tracks. Since 2022 Thursday has also hosted The Tribute which picks one track to celebrate. 2022 was Weekend Warrior by Frontliner, 2023 was No Guts No Glory by Ran-D, and 2024 was Tonight by Wildstylez.
Beautiful narration and good brief down on the end highly highly recommend the end show 2022 or the closing ritual 2022 one of the best shows to combine the music with the pyros and lights keep it up
Basically, Defqon.1 is a 4 day festival. And Each day has it´s own fireworks endshow. This Endshow is not the last show, but it is the original endshow, from back when Defqon.1 was a 1 day event. the thursday fireworks show is called "The Tribute" the friday Endshow is a dedication to a specific artist, called "The Spotlight" (The only endshow with live performing artists) the saturday endshow is "The Endshow" what you just watched. the sunday endshow is "The Closing Ritual"
The Dear Hardstyle Song becomes a lot less corny and takes on a lot of meaning if you know the history of hardstyle and the artists that made this track (Showtek). Not to mention for a lot of fans it actually describes the experience of growing up with hardstyle. Good to see you reacting to videos, I feel they are much better at capturing what hardstyle is about. Love this content, will be coming back for more! :) Also, merry christmas!
It's touching to see someone who's new to the hardstyle scene being so amazed by the Quality of production Q dance sets each year. (That's were the Q stands for tho). It's so sureal how such a small genre sets the bar so goddamn high for decades. The Hardstyle scene is something so special, this is a different kind of love for music. People LIVE this. Everyone who is a big hardstyle fan will tell you that you need to experience this feeling in person. Otherwise you wouldnt fully understand it. This kind of videos are a big reality check, being part of something so big, yet so small is really really special. I hope to see you on Defqon someday! 🧡
To help you sum up a little bit. - some songs are made for the end show. Some are classics - The gods on the thrones are scenes from the last 20 years - The PA stretches from the front and 4 rows back into the crowd i think - your pants are shaking from the sound if your in the front 50 ish Percent - Defqon have 10+ scenes (Don’t know the exact number) - you won’t fint any better production then Defqon IMO - Dear Hardstyle is Showteks returning song to Hardstyle after leaving the Genre for several years Think i covered it all. Been there many times and it’s worth every penny IMO!
Really love the reaction to this! I been to about 8 different festivals and events in Holland where Defqon 1 is located, nothing beats the vibe. Hearing out on your flavour pattern it would be super intresting to see your reaction to Sefa! He is doing frenchcore that is a sub-genre within hardstyle music. You can really pick whatever liveset from him you want but if I need to advise you to the best, check out: Sefa - Defqon 1 2022 or Sefa - Reverze 2024. Keep up the good videos, makes anothers man time filled with quality
probably a few already suggested it, this endshow was great, but the one from 2022 is one of the most emotional endsshow and endceremony i've experienced, where a big part is the fact that 22 was the first defqon festival that happend since corona, based on your reaction to this one, I feel like you will get the crowd reaction that you truly expected :P. P.s. I agree the crowd was kinda tame during this show TBH. Also if you want a 'set' or production around one artist, This is Sefa is a must watch, it's a weird but somehow very cool set with actual instruments.... yes... in hardstyle, and it suprsingly sounds and looks great!
Welcome to the hardstyle family always amazing First discovered hardstyle in 2007 i was in year 7(aus) been hooked ever since ill be raving to the elderly home and to the end🙏🏾❤️🔥
The first track is indeed tame, but it is legendary. The Builder - Her Voice (Headhunterz remix), a track from 2009 which is still very loved by the scene nowadays
So as you may assumed, the mainstage RED as shown here is a different one every year. This year it was about 60m tall, 140m wide and 15m thick. As for the noise amount of fireworks I have to say they somehow lowered the volume of them. They are pretty noticable but you can clearly hear the music whether you are in the front or the back. However in 2016 where I stood in the back row I heard absolutely nothing from the song Gravity.
@ 👉 That's exactly why we want to see it! 🤔 🤔 Like can he at least watch it till the end or no? That’s can be a good battle, we can bet! 😜 Good idea for totalizer 😂😂
Hey, this is the first video i saw from you and i like your reaction so far :) if you really enjoying people showing emotions , i can recommend you to watch "the closing ritual" and "the endshow" from 2022 , it was the year after the whole Covid thing, everyone could finally come "home" again to the Festival. Btw, to be there when i said "home" it is no Joke... the people that are there , we all there are a big Family and we are welcoming everyone new with an open heart there :D ^^ much Greetings from Germany and yeah, im one of the "tearloosing" people out there in the crowd, the feeling you get there is unbeliveble :D but when you don´t want to react to 2022, watch it at least for yourselfe
Hey I’m going to this festival next year 2025. I’m also going into the lighting industry trying to get to do lights for events like this. I can wait to go.
The dear hardstyle type of lyrics is probably because Hardstyle is often what people listen to during work out. Therefore these type of vocals is pretty much coaching people to keep going and reaching their goals. Not all hardstyle is like this. It's mostly the euphoric harstyle, while for example raw hardstyle can be all over the place with their messages.
Amazing reaction! Would love to see you react to Ghost Stories @ Defqon.1 2022, This Is Sefa @ Defqon.1 2024 and The Closing Ritual @ Defqon.1 2024! Would also be interesting to see you react to a Defqon Power Hour - just prepare for an hour of madness, lol. 🙏🏽
The thing about 'Dear Hardstyle' is that it is made by Showtek and it is their 'return' song. They started with hardstyle, went on to produce some other EDM and then they came back. But yeah I agree as a hardstyle listener that a lot of the lyrics are cheesy.
Spotlight - Friday endshow (1 DJ, they get the spotlight because they had an awesome year) Endshow - Saturday endshow (biggest show, 30 mins) Closing ritual - sunday endshow (15 minutes, closes down the festival, more emotional for everyone who endured 4 days of madness ;) )
Sunday and saturday endshows are prerecorded, friday endshows has dj's. besides that there is the power hour on saturday, 1 hour of chaos with like 130 tracks in 60 minutes or something like that, no dj there. all other sets are obviously just DJ sets with 10+ stages across the festival and I believe 100+ dj's there.
Might get some backlash for this, but oh well. In my opinion hardstyle had a drastic change in direction from 2018 and onward. The sound (not a fan) and usage of kicks became different, fake drops also became more popular (never been a fan of those either). Whenever i want to just enjoy a nice ending show i end up watching the ones from 2013 '14 '15 and '16. This might just be something that has partially to do with nostalgia, but over the years iv'e noticed that the new sound isn't for me. Anyone agreeing or disagreeing feel free to respond, im curious what others think.
Some more recommendation some are in different genres of the harder styles: Re-Style & Crypton - Hate Me Riot Shift - SAME AGAIN Dr. Peacock - Trip to Ireland Sefa - Lovely Day To Die Evil Activities - Nobody Said It Was Easy (Sefa Remix) I can also highly recommend you to look at Peacock in Concert, Defqon Power Hour or a SEFA live set
I would love for you to compare this closing of Defqon to the endshow of Intents festival 2024 which is probably the one festival that comes closest to scale, but for me feels more aimed at the scene then Defqon which feels more commercial to me
👉 Hi! Check out next the Gearbox Defqon.1 2024 set next time 🔥 💪 All the heaviest sounding Hardstyle artists are there :) It would be cool to see your reaction to this! ❤ Like guys if also want it 🥵
You should react to my fellow Scotsmen, Rebelion… oof!! They were born and raised in Falkirk, which is 30/40 miles away from where I live. They became kings of Rawstyle very quickly, I think you would like them :-)
You got some special show moments. On Thursday we start with the gathering. This is the opening ours of defqon. Only available to weekend visitors. On Thursday it’s called the tribute. The first day of Defqon ending with an honour to one track. On Friday you have the opening ceremony with daylight fireworks. On Friday evening you end with the spotlight. This is a full on dj set of a specific artist including fireworks. On saturday you got power hour aka 60 minutes of madness. Then on saturday evening you got the endshow. This is the biggest endshow of the weekend. Closing the main day of Defqon. And then on sunday it’s called sunday funday. With a day full of crazyness. At the end of the day you have the closing ceremony. This is the last x ours of defqon. For next year this will be 5 hours at the red stage. And after that you got the closing ceremony. This is the final fireworks show on sunday and after that Defqon is over and we need to wait for another year. Alle those shows are pre recorded. But for the rest of the days you have dj’s playing at the 11 stages.
Your Phuture Noize journey hasn't concluded yet my interest colleague, may a suggestion in the Discord enlighten you in the special aspect of his production & singing.
Idk how to say this without sounding like "omg im so quirky and weird" but it's funny to see your reaction be so hyped towards kicks and synths I would consider "too soft" because of my taste in harder styles music. Maybe in a year or two you'll be losing your mind at songs I currently fw that you'd absolutely HATE currently lol
Pls, if there is one thing i really hate, it is that people in reaction videos (especially in endshow reactions) play the video forwards... so annoying.
I've been to Disneyland and their shows are pale and shallow compared to any big dutch harder styles festival like Defqon.1 Endshow/Closing. Defqon, Dominator, Intents, Decibel, Q-Base, Qlimax .... ❤
i think piep is almost always obnoxious but zaag can be fun when it's reeeally over the top (new wave and deutscher krach style). the "normal" kind of zaag kicks are kinda boring to me most of the time
If you ever want to learn some more about hardstyle in general, let me know :) would be cool to have a chat with someone new, exciting phase when listening to hardstyle

This! The track is also kind of a ''sequel'' to their track ''Fuck the System'' which is probably the most iconic Hardstyle track ever made.
What a come back on Qlimax !
"colours of the harder style" everyone knows that❤🍻🇭🇲

You missed one question: Enshow is on saturday closing ritual is on sunday. Its a 4 day festival
Few nice facts:
- The stage was 136 meters wide
- 2000+ lights where put in the MainStage
- 220tb of footage was shot by 20+ cameras on Defqon
It was also the biggest lighting set in the Netherlands ever. Even eurovision had less lights.
Anyone agreeing or disagreeing feel free to respond, im curious what others think.
Pls React of the Closing Ritual 2024❤💥🔥
Some more recommendation some are in different genres of the harder styles:
Re-Style & Crypton - Hate Me
Riot Shift - SAME AGAIN
Dr. Peacock - Trip to Ireland
Sefa - Lovely Day To Die
Evil Activities - Nobody Said It Was Easy (Sefa Remix)
I can also highly recommend you to look at Peacock in Concert, Defqon Power Hour or a SEFA live set
I would love for you to compare this closing of Defqon to the endshow of Intents festival 2024 which is probably the one festival that comes closest to scale, but for me feels more aimed at the scene then Defqon which feels more commercial to me
👉 Hi! Check out next the Gearbox Defqon.1 2024 set next time 🔥 💪
All the heaviest sounding Hardstyle artists are there :)
It would be cool to see your reaction to this! ❤

The smoke intsifie's the lazerrrrrrrrz ❤❤❤❤❤
You should react to my fellow Scotsmen, Rebelion… oof!!
They were born and raised in Falkirk, which is 30/40 miles away from where I live. They became kings of Rawstyle very quickly, I think you would like them :-)
Never record 1 bit on defqon endshow, it wil come online the thursday after the festival
Rooler and Sickmode - Too Angry
Your Phuture Noize journey hasn't concluded yet my interest colleague, may a suggestion in the Discord enlighten you in the special aspect of his production & singing.
you need to see the 2024 defqon.1 power hour
You should take a peek at power hour at defqon 2024, harder, better, faster.
I tell you something, please upload to the uncut version, please 🙏
Kruelty, Bloodbath machinery live at rebellion indoor!! Amazing set
most see decibel 2024 sunday
React to the gearbox after party defcon 1 2024
Idk how to say this without sounding like "omg im so quirky and weird" but it's funny to see your reaction be so hyped towards kicks and synths I would consider "too soft" because of my taste in harder styles music. Maybe in a year or two you'll be losing your mind at songs I currently fw that you'd absolutely HATE currently lol
React all AR Gang record :)
Next reaction This Is SEFA defcon1 2024 … DO IT NOW YOU WONT REGRET
Pls, if there is one thing i really hate, it is that people in reaction videos (especially in endshow reactions) play the video forwards... so annoying.
I've been to Disneyland and their shows are pale and shallow compared to any big dutch harder styles festival like Defqon.1 Endshow/Closing. Defqon, Dominator, Intents, Decibel, Q-Base, Qlimax .... ❤
sooo power hour defqon1 2024????
Finlllllllly
When you stop slightly mocking it and just taking it in , you'll enjoy it a bit more imo
can you listen to some krowdexx?
this couldbe me , that could be you , we could be kissing at defqon , haha just kidding , ok subbed xD my kinda humor lmao
Sjee je heb aardig lopen knippen 😂😂 vrij irritant 😅
Could you please not cut so much in the video :)
Please, avoid any zaag kicks or piep kicks, or you'll ruin your appetite for hardstyle
I'm a member of the piep and zaag kick defense community. Don't touch our heritage! 🛡️ 🛡️
i think piep is almost always obnoxious but zaag can be fun when it's reeeally over the top (new wave and deutscher krach style). the "normal" kind of zaag kicks are kinda boring to me most of the time
I hope I never bump into you.
do some powerrrrrrrrrrr houaaaaaar then !!!! Most crazy 60 seconds of your life yooooo fo shoooooo yoooooo foooooo shoooooooo
