ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gregory Maguire was born June 9, 1954 in Albany, New York. He received a B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany and a Ph.D. in English and American literature from Tufts University. He is a founder and co-director of Children's Literature New England, Incorporated, a non-profit educational charity established in 1987. He writes for both adults and children. His first book, The Lighting Time, was published in 1978. His adult works include Wicked, Confessions of and Ugly Stepsister, Lost, Mirror Mirror, Son of a Witch, and A Lion Among Men. The Broadway play Wicked is based on his book of the same title. His children's books include the picture book Crabby Cratchitt, the novel The Good Liar, and the Hamlet Chronicles series.

thank you 🙏 very much. first time listening. I grew up with a mother who loved the wizard of oz I actually have a tattoo of the wizard of oz. It’s been a very big thing in my family my mother collected all things wizard of oz ❤
I'm so glad this is available to listen to! I haven't ever heard this story or watched the musical. I have only heard through the grapevine the gist of the story from other people. The musical is never performed where I live as far as I know. But, I love the music from the musical and listen to it often! 😊
It’s a great book, I’ve reread a few times. One of my favorites. It’s not ‘jolly girl power’ like I envision the play to be. Haven’t seen the play perhaps because it seems to be a ‘fun story for 11-year-olds’ - which the book is not.
I’ve read 4 of Maguire’s - Wicked, Mirror-Mirror, The Ugly Stepsister, and the one about Scrooge.
Great and very inventive.
You’ll never view these tales and characters the same way again.
As someone who suffers with Dyslexia being able to follow along with you guys reading? Really helps.
