You can ride the TRA Train (Puyuma) from Taipei to Taichung: NTD375
NOTE: Just last year (2024), TRA became a state-owned corporation and is now called Taiwan Railway Corporation. Please don't get confused if you see this on the website instead of Taiwan Railway Administration.

Ride a local train to Xinwuri and find the bus station
