      @@swingyouth2749 even with humor being subjective, hilarious is an exaggeration here… Maybe if you are 12 years old.
      Even without that, the constant laughter, almost not commenting the game at all, talking over each other, making private jokes or references to irrelevant topics for more than half of the game… And when the game became tight and turned around they were so far gone in their clownery they couldn’t even make it hype anymore or analyze any of the fights correctly.
      The reason I try to avoid the English broadcast if I can has always been because the commentators are unable to focus on the game and spend more time laughing than analyzing the plays or eventual outcomes of macro moves.

      @yannbrogard6971 I'm around the same age as Dracos and Vedi, maybe that's why I can relate to the deep, tired sadness that resides in their words.
      You're making valid points, dude. Their product probably just isn't for you at this point. Move on, watch a streamer who goes deep dive on the analysis, and enjoy your life. Safe

    The commentary is a shame, a total lack of respect for the professionals playing, the casters and the assets presented only serve to demean certain players... and they laugh about it, whether it's for KC or MDK it's is a shameful cast that deserves an apology.

      How frail are you?
      You should really stay away from the Korean broadcast if you think lec gives the player shade when they play bad 😂

    • @elogio
      @elogio หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@Gokkee From the moment the players themselves come to officially complain about it, I think it's a legitimate remark.
      Moreover, I don't watch the LCK, but if they are worse, then I don't see why that would justify that in the LEC the casters spend their time comparing the results of the players in previous seasons or in other leagues (which is a ridiculous take, we cannot compare results in LCK, LCS NA and LEC as if they were the same league), that they have fun knowing if a certain player is more "handsome" than another or if another player has a better career.
      I think we all got the memes and all, but at one point it's too much.
      I don't decide when the red line is crossed, it's the players and from the moment a veteran player like Upset comes publicly to criticize the mediocrity of those casters, I consider that he knows better than me that a point of no return has been crossed in humor and that the insults must stop and I will support him for that.

    • @mastersanada
      @mastersanada หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@elogio I don't see why the players get to decide when the line is crossed. The commentators are there for the enjoyment and entertainment of spectators watching the game, not players. Players need to deal with and live with criticism from all angles, and while commentators should maintain a level of professionalism, I don't think the commentators crossed any line with the comments they specifically made.
      Pulling up tweets comparing supa and upset perhaps not the best way to go about comparing the two. However, pointing out the success Supa had early on compared to the success Upset has had in his career, while also commenting that there are a multitude of other factors, isn't a heinous thing to do. We do the exact same in other team-based sports all the time and we tend to put heavy emphasis on results and statistical performance when predicting and considering how the game will go. Furthermore, we tend to set expectations of players being better/worse based on statistics and performance they had in the past. If a player has had a statistically mediocre performance in the current season, we point that out and probably don't expect them to suddenly perform like a god. However, if they have a solid track record of performing well, we hold onto the idea they have the potential to explode and perform well, just not as likely in that particular season (as an example).
      If your complaint is about comparing results and statistics of teams/players from their histories, frankly I would say it's being unreasonable because that's literally what commentators do all the time in basically all sports we watch.
      The Handsome/Passive part of this commentary was solely because the game was slow and the commentators were stalling for time while they waited for objectives or shifts in gameplay, and came off obviously as a joke. It's not rocket science that this game was slow paced and I see no problem in memeing a little bit for people to have a laugh while waiting for something to happen. It clearly wasn't a direct insult on looks or a direct insult on passive gameplay of certain players, just that seems both teams decided to take the game slow and because of that it's less entertaining to the audience.

      @@Gokkeehave you even seen the korean cast? Im a korean and watch every single LCK game and ive never seen a cast more careful and respective as the casters in LCK especially compared to ones in the western leagues

    • @elogio
      @elogio หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@mastersanada In some extent, the question is closed since the main parties concerned explained themselves on Twitter earlier, but to summarize:
      the casters were criticized for highlighting 'negative narratives without giving important context or considering how them saying it on the main broadcast can effect players and their careers in a huge way. No nuance just shitting on people when they are in a bad moment.'
      The comparison with sport doesn't seem very relevant to me when we see how different the player market in LoL is. Some players will have barely 3 weeks to prove themselves before potentially being benched, it is almost unique in the world of (e)sport to have such a turnover in such a short time. The seasons go on extremely quickly.
      And also, players are much more present on social networks and involved in community life (half of the people present on the desk this evening were former players - and by former, we can understand "just benched" for Odo as an example-). Joking remarks, to occupy the spectators cannot be made to the detriment of the image that is constructed of certain players. Joking is one thing, belittling is another.
      Finally, I would say that of course we will find people to openly criticize players on the networks, as in all sports, but having a production which displays these comments and having casters who react to them live to make people laugh... It's a fairly unique and demeaning experience for players who will inevitably come across it afterwards. A minimum of respect for the public image that production and casters build about them would still be welcome. We can laugh, banter, parody, make jokes, but it must not turn into relentlessness... even if the game is very slow, there are a lot of current topics or other memes to tell.
