Serge "No Poker Face" Yager.
1:33:52 The word Alex was looking for is kummerspeck. It's German. Defined as "a compulsion to eat as a result of feelings of sadness or depression". Literally translates into English as grief bacon.
Wait... I was expecting a bridge game. Isn’t Friday for bridge games?
only at the LoadingReadyRetirementHome
Friday night is always bridge night.

Nice one
Hearing that Alex lost his tokens was more tragic than I would have expected. So sorry man!
Love Alex’s new old look
Digging the new look from Alex.
I love Serge. He's always so happy and nice.
My 4 favourite LRR people playing my favourite format!
During the big combat at around 2:20:00, all of the creatures hit the bin at the same time. Since Alex is the active player, the yeheni counters go on the stack first, and the sharpshooter untaps go on top. Sharphooter can kill yaheni before it gets bigger, for future reference.
yes, cam can kill yahenni with sharpshooter as long as it isn't his turn
if yahenni had damage marked on it before all the triggers, sure
"Savidaddy" 😂😂😂 I love Adam's response to the twitch chat.
Considering Adam is someone that (as far as I know) only really plays limited formats/sometimes comes to play commander, he was super good in this and really enjoyable to watch. Love watching Canlander content, currently trying to get a scene popping in our local LGS in the middle of the English countryside :)
now I might be 5 years too late, but at 2:20:00 cam could have killed the yaheni, alex is active player so his triggers will go on the stack first allowing cam to shoot it before it grows
At 2:23:50, Cam loses to Alex, realizing that by giving Butcher of the Horde flying, it still can be blocked by Avatar of the Resolute. My particular question is that, if he had chosen Lifelink, is it possible Cam could of been alright for a moment? Or was it hopeless?
Alex: "I romanced the hound." *stone silence for 3 seconds* mind blown
Tomb Of Urami + Titania, Protector Of Argoth sounds like a real sick combo that I'm kind of surprised Serge hasn't played yet.
umm... what is the combo? that one is a land and the other cares about lands?
@@marowakcity3727 No, fool, Urami blows up all your lands to give you a 5/5 Flying Demon, and all those blown up lands turn into 5/3s with Titania's static Ability.
@@KakuEpsilon oh wow, I read that as Tatyova *facepalm*
@@KakuEpsilon somehow you calling Elliot a fool made my day. Thank you sir
The Scavenging Ooze was for buying the Steam Version of Duels of the Planeswalkers of whatever year that was.
Late to the party but... Naya MidrAngels.
yayy! Always excited to see more highlander!
You can actually pinpoint the moment his soul leaves his body; 1:17:05
I got my order from card kingdom last week and it was the "who dares bargle with yargle?" one......which was unfortunate since I already have that one
I would love to see a 60 card constructed version of black mold
Not the $20 budget version either
Would love to see a large scale Canadian Highlander Tournament from you guys on a more regular basis
I always enjoy a good CanLander game, especially because the decks are worth more than my annual gross income.
Serge is always so upbeat and cheerful, good to see him playing Naya-Not-Really-Angels ft. Landfall Triggers
Is it just me or does Adam really get down about the game? Perhaps it's apart of his personality and he's just naturally chill, but I watch him play and I feel bad for him. Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks that.
Chain lightning is a sorcery
Alex's with that morbid, holy shit!
Really hope to keep seeing more Highlander!
In game against Alex, shouldn’t Master of Waves produced 4 elementals for Adam? Three from the one dude and one from Master of Waves
ADAM, I GOT WHAT I WANTED FOR CHRISTMAS!
Oh my god, Alex. I love you.
yeees highlander content is so cool! Also, I love to have Adam and Cameron joining
I always assumed 'the juice' was an OJ reference.. Cause of the mangling I guess
Would Alesha be a decent include in a Mardu Aristocrats deck? Kinda the opposite of what they normally want to do, bring things back instead of sac them. But being able to reanimate ETB creatures, get another attacker out of nowhere, use said reanimated creatures with the sac outlets, and just in general having a 3/2 First Strike seems....fine?
That's exactly how you play Mardu Aristocrats/Hatebears in Commander. It's spicy.
The commercial Alex references at 1:44:40 if anyone's curious th-cam.com/video/9h_nJE2nZWM/w-d-xo.html
Fun to watch you playing and serge is just cheerfully playinb, common guys , more fun more interesting :P
petition for Serge to call his deck Naya Angelou
Now we need a dancing Serge screensaver

1:07:02 Judge! You can't pay life you don't have! You can't play Sacred Foundry untapped on 1 life!
Serg with the best physical comedy
Agh. At 18:00 Adam could have used Jitte to kill the Experiment One because it had 2 damage marked on it
Nevermind
He could've also blocked the Cackler the very next turn with the Master of Waves for no cost (pro red)
So why did Cameron take 3 from a fetch land against Serge, turn 1?
in game 2? because he fetched for a shockland and had it come in untapped so he could cast a creature- 2 damage from the shock and 1 from the fetch
For some reason, 1:17:24 makes me giggle like a madman. I don't know why.
Has Alex considered Golgari Charm? That card seems really sweet in CanLander.
I think Black Mold runs it, or it did at some point. IIRC, he talked about the card when brewing the deck on a ttc years ago.
Edit: this is the list, it doesn't run golgari charm tappedout.net/mtg-decks/black-mold-v3-3

I wish Adam played Highlander nowadays, ah well
Me too thanks
i need to get my friends into this format :D
Quick! Physical comedy... 😆😂
Not trying to be a sass lord, but has Alex won a highlander match on stream? He seems to either have horrible luck with mana or get rolled by God hands in all the FNPFs
I think this points to an issue with the format - namely the lack of reliability for lean, low to the ground decks. The preponderance of tutors, filtering, modal cards and of course the singleton stipulation all seem to prevent an aggressive deck from consistently putting out really solid lines. Everyone else seems content to sidestep and manicure their hand for the first few turns, tutoring for answers and preparing a win condition.
@@chaz32 that's not necessarily true. I'm not completely disagreeing with the point you're trying to make, but Alex's losses don't have to do with just that. He basically threw a game in match one to Adam because he misplayed very poorly twice in a row with not playing to block Thada. Additionally, Mono red is one of the top decks in the format, which is absolutely an aggro deck. Friday Night Paper Fight is not the best representation of the format as a whole
I believe Alex has won one of these before. I believe rather recently too.
@@treasureberry7154 Fair enough, good points. I was perhaps theorycrafting a little bit to explain Alex's bad performance. Perhaps overall he has a more casual relationship with the format compared to players who are judges or format vets.
@@chaz32 I agree, someone like Jer or Ben from North 100 are likely to show performances based on power level of the deck, seeing as they are both good players that have made it too the Highlander championships.
"uwu-ze?" *_"OH MY GOD"_*
Don't forget UWUmezawa's Jitte.
Chickie nuggie
The no sideboard thing annoys me. Aus highlander is better because of it.
Owen Yates It’s 100 card decks. The idea is you put your answers in the deck to go along with your game plan. 7 point is the traditional 60 cards and has far less flexibility in deck building.
@@GollyGoshSensation completely disagree. 7 point highlander has every archetype that canlander does. Far more consistency so games don't come down to who draws the pointed cards in there 100 card deck. Deck building is much hard in 7 point as instead of just jamming every artifact mana rock or every 1 cost 2 power creature you have to decide on which ones are actually worth it.
@@owenyates6046 What I mean by less flexibility is there are less flexible slots in the decks simply because of more constrained deck sizes therefore the sideboard slots. I totally agree with you that 7 point provides far less swingy games and more interesting gameplay as a whole. Canlander is just playing 1v1 commander except there is no ban list.
