one thing i wanna mention about regs and even high stakes regs being lazy when it comes to studying and practice is that when your results are really good already in poker with little studying its very hard to just jump into gto wiz when you are crushing which has the effect of slowing down the evolution of the game creating large opportunities for the ones who put in huge work in the lab
Great episode so far! The EV from putting your opponents in uncomfortable spots that they never really see (5x bvb) and making them more prone to mistakes could definately offset potential theoretical ev loss from not using optimal sizings and is definately something interesting to think about
Lots of people. 5 figures isn't that much. Assume a 3bb/100 win rate, which is on the low end for a winner, and 50k hands per month. That's 36k a year. That's a low end winner playing moderate volume. I suspect the best regs are winning at 10bb/100.
@ Most play 200 as their lowest stake, because there’s little traffic on global above 200. Focus on showdowns and you’ll quickly find the nit Regs to overfold vs. Focus on exploiting the fish for the maximum and minimally exploiting the weak Regs.
Great pod, would be great to see Matt on again as well! If you don't have any other topics available you could just go full autismo on mindset and deliberate practice for 90 minutes as well, I'd listen in.
Seems to me like GG is trying to get rid of as many of the guys that are "trying to squeeze every bit of EV out of the games". Guys that fish dont want to play with. It feels like live poker has been this way for awhile now.
I wonder if you guys have considered that GG is attempting to protect their whales. It is possible they are seeing them leave the site and not come back after a certain amount of losses.
Just a curiosity: when you talk about the AI coding revolution, you mentioned that you are already using some cool LLM software to help you coding simple programs. What is this? Any recommendations? Or is it just ChatGTP?
36:56 I disagree. I think being in the regulated market is the way to grow poker sustainably. I’m in the NJ market and pokerstars and WSOP are the leaders. I can vouch for the security of pokerstars, no bot infiltration. But I really don’t trust WSOP. I don’t trust their platform, I don’t trust their rng. They are shady and archaic af

34:00 you guys are delusional. Dnegs income doesn’t come from poker. His wins are few and far apart. When he binked the bracelet in the WSOP he still ended the season down. Why would Dnegs leave a lucrative ambassador contract for ethical or poker advancement reason. Remember “ more rake is better”?
Stop acting like these sites owe you something. The recreational are a scarce resource & just because you play well doesn't give you a right to take their money.
Since recs are so scarce, why would you rather that sites get to rape them for all the bb/100 in the world but not pros? Either way... THEY GET RAPED!! Poker operators are doing what is best in their interest, not with what is actually best for the ecosystem. You can't be surprised when pros do, or protest what's in their best interest, too
Always love hearing Matt's insight - nice interview
He's also confusing WPT Global with Club WPT Gold which is in the USA coming soon. WPT Global is available outside the USA

Great episode, mate 👍
at the begin of it but already really interesting, thanks brothers ;)
You’re both are great! Really good episode.

Good one
55:30 - who the heck is out here making mid to high 5 figures on Global 200NL?? i'd love to know their study routines

@@CancelIFR do you know any of them personally? how are they studying? what kinds of exploits are they using etc?

Galfond is the guy for this step… he should step in

Global has a bunch of decent games 100NL and lower. Hard to get 2 fish at one table at 200NL+, but still decent nonetheless

If we were in court, It would be very hard to prove that Linus was over-bluffing in that spot, even after seeing his hand.
🤔
Right and keep fold fold fold , your money become his redline 😅
some random nerd : Because he is Linus! What do you talking about??
If being in court gave us access to every hand Linus has ever tracked, then it wouldn’t be that hard to prove.
