Neil & Tim are 2 of the most talented people in the business. True naturals at their best. Only talking Sense... "Did you suffer as a child thats why you wanna make me cry? "
One listen and it`ll STAY with you forever,a little known gem, first heard it played live by the brothers on Later with Jools Holland, search on YT and see if you like it more by giving a thumbs up just out of interest, its as good if not better than album version, hooked me instantly....
This song literally changed my whole perspective on music. Before hearing this, music was just background noise with little meaning, this is where my CD collection started.
Absolutely adore this song, so haunting and I think the Finn bros always write songs that have such a deep and honest reflection on life but at the same time they manage to have a sound that should be a lot more popular that it is. Also, for the six dislikes, isn't it sad that you felt the need to search this out and take the time to dislike it?
i remember being a kid, hearing this song. it was scary. i could imagine the monster in the shed. i knew what it was like to be scared to death and not be able to sleep at night. i thought that i would be the child who was messed up in the head. i thought i would be the child who would be tied up to the fence. i was watching my family fall apart through divorce and addiction and i was watching my mom cry to this song, saying that my dad suffered as a child and that had to be why he was so unkind
Yes! I just recently discovered this song. And it's been living in my head for days! That's exactly what I thought: addictive! An addiction I don't mind!
I guess he should have put the tongue in the mail LOL! I was also not aware that there was a video for this song- bit strange but, hey, the song itself itself is amazing
I think it's about an abusive parent, but I'm not sure. In any case, it's a very strong, sad and beautiful song. I'm glad that Radio Paradise showed it to me.
Fearabbit an abusive parent in the past...we are true...only when we we talk the pillow...Sounds like making love to me. But damaged? Yes. And damaged people damage other people. Sad but true. I speak from experince. Intimacy might break down barriers but it's frightening to someone who has disassociated from abuse to survive mentally. Too much real. " Your child is near up in the head." Indeed. 2 damaged people trying to get their need for love met.
When I watch this video, I can't help but to get the feeling that I'm dreaming...disemodied eyes, fingers, doors appearing, fading tangles of fibers....am I alone?
I would never have know this video existed if you hadn't uploaded it. This is one of my favorite Finn Brothers tunes. That images of the tongue and eyes... I don't know what to make of them. Who wrote the video for this? Was it Neil or Tim or both?
I went years with not hearing this song, but the sound and lyrics where always with me. Brilliant.
one of my all time favorite songs by two of my all time favorite musicians. Thank You Tim and Neil.

Is it just me or am I the only one who think Otherside from Red Hot Chili Peppers was inspired by this?
Is it just me but this looks and sounds just like Otherside of Red Hot Chili Peppers...release 4 years AFTER?
no, it has nothing to do with Red Hot!
it was about that gay kid who got beat to death on that fence in the town ?? larimire or something??
Dreadful video ruining a great great song.
