I’m a Dutch originate from this area but live abroad now in Utrecht. I like this video very much. It is very appealing and no word is lied. My compiments; keep on making
I came across this video after randomly checking out the different regions of the Netherlands in google maps with a small hope in the back of my mind of sometime living there, and have then radomly come across this video... it's so incredibly well done! seriously, it's hard to believe you only have 32K subscribers, the amount of effort and editing you put into this video is admirable and a joy to watch. Subscribed!
How beautiful is all of that art!! I really am no expert when it comes to visual arts but as the cliche goes, I know what I like! I always find myself standing in front of beautiful pieces going, "I know this is amazing, I just wish I knew more about HOW it's amazing!" :D
True! I did theatre academy and also people then said: I am not an expert - when we came out of a play. But you always know if you liked or disliked something, you just don't know specifically why exactly (technically) something is nicer than something else :)
Your video quality is amazing and I love how professional this video is. Full of history and beauty!! Love the idea of you showing us all parts of your beautiful country! Should be beautiful in the winter months too.
:D Oh yes, I hope so much for snow and frozen water this winter! There were times we could iceskate on the canals in Amsterdam - how amazing would it be to show you :D :D :D
I'm always excited to see your videos. I love your narration and you shoot really well :) There's always a smile while I'm watching your videos. Loved it :)
Middleburg looks so interesting, I see it's not that far from AMS, maybe I'll check it out next time I go. That little house looked so cool too. Thanks for sharing!
:) It's not! Actually so many places in the Netherlands are so close to Amsterdam. Groningen and Maastricht are considered far away - guess how long it would take you to go there ;)
How cool that you got invited to this privat house! Cool collection of old school stuff! Holland is always so full of all different kind of arts! That's awesome! Good on ya!
I came here looking to watch a video and left with that AND an amazing history lesson as well! Not even surprised by this though... Your content is always amazing! Those tapestries with the ships were incredible. The detail involved blows my mind. Great work, as always, my friend!
Thanx so much! Love to hear you've enjoyed! And I actually was surprised by the Tapestries myself, with the naked buts floating in the sea ;) Haha, in our Den Bosch video we also feature a medieval painter who made crazy characters, also pretty seksual. Sometimes I think we feel we are really free and all how - but actually we're less than we used to be in some cases ;)
Leuk! Ik ben net als Brexitvluchteling naar Middelburg verhuisd, en ik kon niet gelukkiger wezen! Prachtige stad, leuke mensen. En zoveel bezienswaardigheden! Bedankt voor jouw video.
@@haatpraat2993 Middelburg is certainly not alone in this. Anyone aware of European history during the last 400 years or so, knows that all the great prosperous cities (eg Antwerp, Amsterdam, Bordeaux, Bristol, London, Liverpool, Paris - the list is endless) have the shame of the slave trade written in their past. The Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg has at the moment an outstanding exhibition on the subject.
@@mjwemdee I never suggested that Middelburg was unique in its historical significance, but it's important to acknowledge that while ports like Liverpool et al are widely recognized, Middelburg's past involvement with massive human trafficking, together with its physical, mental and sexual abuse of defenceless hundreds of thousands of people because of its involvement in the transatlantic slave trade, is less known. Middelburg like the other ports you mentioned is a port that has blood on its hands. It's is important for visitors to know of its past.
This is so well done! It made me want to pack up my things and go there right now.:) The art galleries excite me. We will be back to your country,:) -Ash
This city, Middelburg is is not well known because it has a very dirty historical past that does not sit well with modern, liberal Netherlands. It was the centre of the Dutch Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Hundreds of thousands of lives, perhaps millions of lives if you include the descendants of the survivors of the middle passage were destroyed to enrich this city.
Love the early history lesson! You really nailed the art scene, a combo of the camera work and the music. I don't know why, but when you speak and I hear the traditional style music or classical it flows so well! A shame about the wind and the clouds at the end, I have read about the water systems in Holland before. Keep the great content going.
Fancy dinner and a fancy hotel goes well with some really nice art! And thank you for a brief history, I don't need to google it up to learn about it. :-) I want to climb up that tower. I enjoy going to high places :-)
Im writing and viewing again because I love you and your videos that much, it is a dream to travel and shot videos with you. You have no idea how much you have inspired me. I show your videos to all my friend and show off that I know you ;)
"I will show you much, much more." 😀 Very clever. Really enjoyed this video. Lovely town, interesting commentary and excellent use of music yet again. Vivaldi was perfect. 👍
So many art galleries in this city, hard to imagine that it looked almost completely destroyed after the second world war.How cool was it that this guy just invited you in his house!Love it when that happens! As usual ,awesome video!
i really love this video... you did such a good voice with voice over and meaningful information. I love this buildings, that tower view is great i just wish they let you open the window... hahaha. the flag on the building to see the art is really cool info. The moments with you are your husband is so touching... i think its my favorite part.
I'd love to go up that tower! also would love to visit the art galleries, so cool that you can meet the artists. Ooh, the old fashioned kitchen is nice too! at 4:50, you should've it timed it with the word "But" :)
Hahha love the fiets at 1:10 (the one where you lie down). I never got to visit Middelburg during my 3 years in the Netherlands... Probably because I live on the other side of the country. Beuatiful city! I love the art. And the guy that invited you to his house was so nice :)
😊😊 I also hadn't been here before! It's on a part of the Netherlands that's not easiest to reach it feels - might be why 😊😊 Did I ask you before where you lived in the Netherlands??
Heb pas onlangs jullie site ontdekt. Héél mooie, informatieve en goed gemaakte film. Heel mooi en professioneel in beeld gebracht. Bijna perfecte cadrage.
:D Well, that's never to be said for sure in the Netherlands ;) You always need some luck with the weather. But I would say ideally in spring or summer!
Late comment sorry . But a question. My father ( Navy landing craft ) in WW2 ran from the canal to the town hall and took the Nazi flag from the door way. I still have it and would like to give it back to a local museum Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks Lee
I love the Netherlands! Such a beautiful country. I've visited there a few times and seen a few cities and towns but I've never visited Middelburg. Thank you for the tour of the city. Would love to visit one day. :-) Lotta/Lanttimatkat
During the 1600/1700s, Middelburg was the centre of the Dutch Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. People from Middelburg sailed down to west Africa, then carried chained up enslaved Africans not only to Dutch plantation terrioties in the Americans, but chiefly to non Dutch terriorities such as Brazil were defenceless African men, women and children would face the rest of their entire lives subjected to physical, mental and sexual abuse aw well as death. The money produced by this horrid business contributed to the weath of Middelburg.

While in Middelburg, just remember the whole city grew up on the Dutch Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade - the suffering and deaths of millions.

Thanx! Yeah, loved that too. Middelburg really is a friendly town!
Flights from Belfast are really cheap so we might head over this winter for a weekend getaway :)
Oh yes!! If it's freezing you can iceskate on the canals 😍

:D Thanx my friend :)
Never heard of this city but looks so, so pretty!
Can imagine! It's mainly known by the Dutch themselves and the Germans - they discover our entire coastline more than we do ;)
