People have been telling me that it's impossible to get neurosurgery in UK as an IMG. Been also told that surgery is also impossible to get. Idk how true that but it can be demotivating. But thank you for making this video, very helpful!

It is not tough to get into surgery in the UK because the competition ratio is not too bad. Entry to Neurosurgery can be pretty challenging although.

Hello. Your video was really informative. Could you tell me a bit more about the neurosurgery scoring matrix? When one applys for core training there is an entire scoring matrix which also tells how the points are allocated. Is there one for neurosurgery aswell? I tried very hard to find it online but to no avail. I hope you could help me out with it.

There’s no specific one like that for Neurosurgery unfortunately!

Thanks a lot! I’ve tried making videos with camera and lighting initially. It takes a lot of time to edit them honestly. It’s just that I have a lot to do during the day and I feel that the content style should not matter but it unfortunately does, so I will look into it :)

Should the competition into neurosurgical training put someone off since applications are soaring or will it calm down and I shouldn't worry about applying for neurosurgical training. BTW I'm 14 so I should apple in 2035. Would the neurotraining posts open up again?

Try to do degrees in these specialties or related field (BSC, MSc , PGCert , PhD). That’s a big differentiator. Basic things like teaching, audits, research, presentations have to be done too.

No you can only enter at ST1 or ST2 for Neurosurgery. If you go and see " person specifications for speciality training "> neurosurgery. Then it only lists ST1 and ST2 as entry into Neurosurgery training
