      You should go see the comments. Sort them by most recent. Every recent one that's in Greek is basically apologising for the jury no giving 12 points😂 Unforgettable, for sure, but for the Greeks it won't be for the reason you think. Especially because Cyprus this year had an objectively pretty good song and the tepevote gave 12 points too Cyprus as always.

    In my opinion the jury system is outdated at this point. Why should a handful of people get to dish out half the points for a public event? Sure, maybe there should be some amount of "professional" input to make sure that the quality of the songs still gets judged a little more objectively, but in a televised event with nearly 200 million people watching, shouldn't those people get to have more of a say in who wins? It definitely needs to be changed. I'm not saying it needs to be removed, but definitely reworked, because it's not really fair right now.

      Maybe because Finland’s song is mostly about performance, but at the song level… let’s be honest, there were performers with way more powerful voices and melodic songs. And I totally understand that the public must have seen Finland’s song as very original and cool, but the juries are usually way more conservative and prefer more standard songs in which the contestants can demonstrate clearly their singing abilities

    • @Mainyehc
      @Mainyehc ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Not only that; the jury representatives also knew, but looked largely low-energy when dishing out 12 points to Sweden, almost as if they were ashamed of what they were doing.
      Compare and contrast that with the beautiful voting sequence in 2017, with most representatives shouting the obvious winner’s name, and some of them even congratulating him personally, speaking in our rather difficult language, etc.
      My take is: the jurors *did* prefer other songs over Sweden’s, but decided to vote en mass for the public’s second favorite to prevent the top one from winning. They actively disliked Käärijä’s entry and constructively voted against it.
      I’m not saying they colluded to do such a thing, but if the criteria for selecting jury members is the same in all countries, it’s also predictable they think in similar ways regarding their own methods. However, some countries broke free from that and were unafraid of giving other songs higher scores.

    Many German people know that the Singer from the last years were ok, but nothing special ya know.
    And this year, we were very happy and thankfull to have a rock song to go with, cause we dont have much to say who we send in and thought that this time we will achieve at least like place 16, 17.

      There were a lot of things going against Germany this year. The starting number was bad. Very far into the contest, where a lot of people already had favorites and in between Norway and Israel who were already hyped before the contest. And in the metal genre Finnland just completely stole the show. Finnland was so hyped already before the contest and most people who like the style of Lord of the lost would have probably preferred Finnland to win.

    The problem is not so much that Sweden won, but HOW they won.
    Maybe Loreen deserved to win anyway, but NOT THANKS to the 340 points (!!!) of the jury, which is an absurd score, made on purpose to make her win. They wanted to armour the result with the very high jury vote to contain the avalanche of public votes for Finland that they knew would come in Saturday night's final.
    Loreen by the juries certainly deserved it:
    SOME 12 pts
    MANY 10 or 8
    SOME 6, etc.
    Almost all the 12 points went to Loreen, taking them away from other artists who would have deserved even more than her for the quality of the singing.
    It is absurd that the Spanish singer only received 95 points from the jury, Blanca deserved AT LEAST 50 or 60 more!
    And Norway? Only 52 points from the jury? Germany 3 points from Jury???? Please!
    Other singers should have received more points for their voices: Norway Spain France Cyprus Italy Lithuania... etc.
    Finland did not have a singer on the level of the above countries, including Sweden; sure, Loreen is much better than Kaarija in singing, but Kaarija should have received AT LEAST 15-20 more votes from the jury for overall performance and originality (again, AT LEAST).
    By keeping the votes received from the audience the same, but 'correcting' the jury votes with fairer votes, the final ranking would have been more rightful and there would have been two equally acceptable scenarios:
    scenario 1 )
    with 10-15 more points from the jury to Finland and a smaller avalanche of 12 points to Sweden (e.g. 280 total points for Loreen and not 340!) > Finland wins
    scenario 2)
    Sweden still wins, but with a point difference from Finland of 5-10-15 points, not 57 despite the second best public score of all time!
    Even scenario 2 would have been acceptable, it would have been a 'normal' victory, with Loreen winning thanks to a 'fair' jury.
    It is precisely the 340 jury points awarded to Sweden that is a thing out of this world!!!
    There was a big bias on the part of the juries (unless we want to talk openly about under-the-table deals...).
    I am not one of those who claim that ONLY Finland deserved to win (Sweden also deserved it) but the 340 points is perhaps too arrogant way for the jury to 'settle the score'.
    The abnormality of this all becomes too apparent.

    Bruh, the jury vote is useless - we all know that Finland (Käärijä) should have won this. Look at Loreen, even she was surprised and did not seem to enjoy winning this. Don't want to sound like a hater here, but i would say that Sweden is a bit overrated - yes, the performance she made was absolute perfection, however Käärijä made the crowd move waaaaaayyyy more. CHA CHA CHA

    • @metalvisionsongcontest7055
      @metalvisionsongcontest7055 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s the crucial point. When winning with so many unanimous jury points makes even the singer herself visibly uncomfortable during the voting process, saying that Käärijä should have won isn’t “attacking Loreen”; it’s attacking the juries, and actually defending both of the singers.
      I hope the “favour” the juries tried to do Sweden here doesn’t end up backfiring and tarnishing Loreen’s legacy in the Eurovision community. It’s not her fault that the juries refused to do their job properly, or that she was up against the fan favourite.
      The controversy surrounding “Tattoo” and Mika Newton’s “V plenu” doesn’t help either, I guess. But that might just be something more and more people are becoming aware of in hindsight now, because they want to find something to criticise about the song itself - rather than about the juries as a system.
