Completely agree! I always wondered is tall associated with being strong? Cause that’s definitely not always true. Is tall associated with intelligence? Also not true lol so why does being tall make women assume good genetics when they could be weak, unathletic and dumb? Lol

male pattern baldness*+Josh* (and i don't have it, just to be clear) i thought the other major factor was the presence of high/higher male hormones, isn't it so. like my kid cousin, whom i've literally cared for back when he was an infant.. started looking like you avataar (receding hairline) when in his twenties and now also has thinning at the crown. i've seen similar things happen to other cousin/friends who are fools who ingest all kinds of excrement powders and shakes in the name of 'gym' 'body building'. although i've a fairly high libido drive, since i haven't yet started loosing as much hair..i assumed i've lower testosterone/ then again, i've (initially family, then by choice) refined white flour >> maida en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maida_flour and not into too much snacks, junk food. obviously not a pizza burger guy, having been a desi at heart even when not in the subcontinent. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/desi fairly good food habits, being blessed with (born in) a decent home/family that provided for us, managing stress well and keeping it low.. apart from lifestyle choices (say: no meat/fish eggs, being teetotaller) too helped i think (in only having grey hair and not yet male pattern baldness).

It's definitely genetics, nurturing I think only impacts height by a certain margin, but the starting point of the height is genetic. It also depends which sperm makes it, since some genes pass from very distant relatives. My face for example traces waaaay back in my family tree for example, I look nothing like my parents.

I would say genetics play a part as well as diet. I used to be around 5'6 when I was 14. My cousing who is 7 months younger than me was only 5'1. After that I moved out for the studies and he stayed back. He used to take proper diet where as I got hung on junk food, stopped playing sports entirely etc. He ended up being 6'2. I ended up being 5'10. I wish I could go back and live a more active life style which would have made me physically become the best I could have been.
@Introvertical873 with proper exercise and diet you could be taller than 6'2. My biggest mistake as far as diet goes is I used to eat a lot of junk food and increased intake of carbs. Avoid Alcohol at all costs l, how tempting it might be. That is a huge contributor towards me putting up a lot of belly fat. Continue playing sports.

I think genetics have a role in maximum height potential. Where as environment, diet, bone development, etc. All collectively play a big role. I was expected to be 5'9 by the doctor when I was a kid. And in high school that was true. I was 5'9 from freshmen to senior year and then my 2nd year in college had another growth spurt and grew to 6'1. I come from a very poor family so had to eat the bare minimum my entire life until I got a job and paid for my own food. I also worked out more consistently, and made stretching an important routine as well all during those first 2 years of college.

Your sensitivity to growth hormone, your production of growth hormone which can be affected notably by lifestyle as well as estrogen levels and sensitivity which close growth plates earlier in women at about 14-16 while men don’t stop growing till about 18-20, depending on many factors.
I went to College with a young lady who's parents were dwarfs. She was 5'10 in height. So, I think genetics do play a part in height, but there's other factors that determines your height too.
Maybe her parents were malnourished at young age so they didn’t reach their full potential but their daughter did because of better nutrition and environment lol dk
people don’t understand what this video is saying tho. When they say your environment affects your height it means if you don’t eat right or don’t sleep enough you’ll be shorter than your genetics predetermined you to be not that if you eat and sleep well then you’ll be 6ft +. You can’t sleep, excercise or stretch your way to be tall lol but if you don’t eat right or exercise or sleep then you’ll stunt your growth and won’t reach your GENETIC potential.
Vick Allison I think it’s possible to exceed your genetic limit if you’ve been playing basketball and swimming like a madman since you were 5, drink milk everyday, never get below the recommended amount of sleep, be extremely healthy, be extremely active, watch out for your weight, and get all your vitamins
Summary: Height depends both on your environment and diet(nature) and on your genetics as well (nuture) but we can’t really conclude that genes 100% control height since not all genes in our body are discovered and for now scientists have concluded that 86% of genes contribute to height variation but we’ve only discovered 27% of those genes. Conclusion: height depends on both your environment and genetics and not just genetics overall.

I'm Australian and I was an adhd child so my parents gave up on forcing vegetables down my throat pretty quickly as I would flip my lid. So pretty much a nutritious diet of vegemite on toast 4 pieces for breakfast and a frozen microwave meat pie or 2 for lunch and dinner smothered in tomato sauce. So pretty much my diet was awful and had no nutritious value but by 10 years old I was eating evrything i could get my hands on pretty much eating like 5000 calories per day to accommodate the growth I was going to acquire. Pretty much I think it was genetic I have a long line of people in my family ranging from 6'2 to 7'.
My Dad is 5'6" and my mom is 5'3". But I'm 5'10". I have a feeling it's because they grew up in Sri Lanka and I grew up in the US. My grandparents were also no taller than 5'5" on both sides. I have a guess I grew up taller because of better nutrition opportunity and having access to cheaper meat and dairy (with all the easily accessible amino acids + infused growth hormones)

Nutrition is definitely a factor. You probably didn't have much of a shot of breaking 6 feet, but better nutrition gave you an edge over prior generations.
idk bruh so many people in the comments here seem insecure about their height while I’m just here chilling at 5’7, not tall, not too short(pretty short though), but honestly I’m fine with my height, even if I stay this height for the rest of my life, I’d be perfectly ok with that, height usually isn’t going to cause you as much mental strife as you make it seem, only causing you stress if you give it so much attention, but honestly, the height you’re at right now is fine, so I don’t think you should worry about that and maybe worry about taxes or something idk. TL;DR: I think you should be accepting of your height, if you aren’t and are worried you might be stuck at your current height, then that’s ok too, just don’t stress over it so much because, to put it bluntly, you shouldn’t stress over things you can control.

Height is weird to understand and there are many factors that influence it. I don't know but I think that protein and dairy intake also plays a big role in height. We Germans are big meat and dairy consumers and are quite tall, same applies to the Dutch and other tall European countries. I once read a interesting article that declared that as soon as Asian people changed their diet with more protein and some dairy they grew a lot more in height then before. So I guess genetics and nutrition is really important for height. But once you are a grown person nutrition will do nothing haha.

Yes, I've been bullied for my height but I just realized that there are somethings that we can't change and some people will always point it out, no matter how obvious it is. An even more interesting question imo, is how and why has it become an appealing characteristic to be tall, and simultaneously unappealing to be short(?). I think it's definitely worth a video. Anyone agree?
The short answer is because taller men are sexually more attractive to women.
Completely agree! I always wondered is tall associated with being strong? Cause that’s definitely not always true. Is tall associated with intelligence? Also not true lol so why does being tall make women assume good genetics when they could be weak, unathletic and dumb? Lol
@@dylanburkardt1113 it turns them on, in a liberally sexual society catered towards the sexual needs of women (ease of access, social media, make up, welfare, social and financial state support), the bias towards selective breeding based on sexual characteristics is maximized. Fortunately I can't speak for personal experience on that one
It's Okay To Be Smart Nor I, but the genetics are pretty interesting, from what I have read. For example, there is an important gene on the X chromosome, but autosomal genes are also involved. This complexity explains, for example, why Patrick Stewart and Bruce Willis balded at different ages.
Google DHI Global you’ll find the best company fair hair transplants
male pattern baldness*+Josh* (and i don't have it, just to be clear) i thought the other major factor was the presence of high/higher male hormones, isn't it so.
like my kid cousin, whom i've literally cared for back when he was an infant.. started looking like you avataar (receding hairline) when in his twenties and now also has thinning at the crown.
i've seen similar things happen to other cousin/friends who are fools who ingest all kinds of excrement powders and shakes in the name of 'gym' 'body building'.
although i've a fairly high libido drive, since i haven't yet started loosing as much hair..i assumed i've lower testosterone/
then again, i've (initially family, then by choice) refined white flour >> maida en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maida_flour
and not into too much snacks, junk food.
obviously not a pizza burger guy, having been a desi at heart even when not in the subcontinent. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/desi
fairly good food habits, being blessed with (born in) a decent home/family that provided for us, managing stress well and keeping it low.. apart from lifestyle choices (say: no meat/fish eggs, being teetotaller) too helped i think (in only having grey hair and not yet male pattern baldness).
Spock Yes, male hormones are a big reason that men are more prone to baldness than are women.

DAMNN can you suggest me your routine for 2 years in college (including diet and streching exercises). I jusst passes my 12th grade , i am 5'9 myself now
@@zoro_065 same here bruh
Same just graduated high school at 5’8, currently 5’10, i had a late growth spurt, you first notice growing pains in your knees, shins, thighs and ankles sometimes, your more tired through the day, you get hungry more often, you have a emotion roller coaster, one minute ur happy then mad, sad,. You smell more manly now, you get mad easily,
Can i ask how old were u when u had another growth spurt?
You age durin the spurt

Your sensitivity to growth hormone, your production of growth hormone which can be affected notably by lifestyle as well as estrogen levels and sensitivity which close growth plates earlier in women at about 14-16 while men don’t stop growing till about 18-20, depending on many factors.
for women i've heard that it was at 18 that they reach their adult height and 20 for men so wich one is true

Summary:
Height depends both on your environment and diet(nature) and on your genetics as well (nuture) but we can’t really conclude that genes 100% control height since not all genes in our body are discovered and for now scientists have concluded that 86% of genes contribute to height variation but we’ve only discovered 27% of those genes.
Conclusion: height depends on both your environment and genetics and not just genetics overall.

@@NeostormXLMAX that's bs. Most bodybuilders start late teens. The reason they are short is all about illusion. Same muscle mass looks bigger on a shorter frame than a tall one. Has nothing to do with protein/soy/dairy intake

Do you eat any particular food that helps with growth?
I have a guess I grew up taller because of better nutrition opportunity and having access to cheaper meat and dairy (with all the easily accessible amino acids + infused growth hormones)
im similar parents are dominican dad is 5'5 and my mom 5'1 im 6' and my sister 5'8 but my older brother is 5'6 even though the 3 of us grew up in america. pretty weird

May: I am still 19. Seems like no change, I did measure about 3 hours after I got up but still that wouldn't shorten me much. Looks like my growth mighta been stunnted after all. :(
July 24th: Possibly slightly taller, If there is any big change by August I'll update then.
September 17th: Nothing :P
June 7 2020 Well.... I am 5’8 3/4, this may be due to the amount of exercise and yoga I have been doing or it may be because I am growing.

Is being 16 and 5'10 bad?
@dxrkfrmdetroit Definitely not, you're slightly above average and still have more room to grow, ending up at 5'11/6'0 def not bad at all. I'm 17 and 5'7 and my optimal height I rlly Wana reach is 5'10 but idk if I will :(

@@--------8453 that sounds true. Africans have a higher genetic height potential than Europeans on average I'm pretty sure. Because I noticed that kids of African parents that came to western countries are noticeably taller than Europeans and that is just in one single generation lol
