    I loved hearing this one.
Maybe my personal favourite of the album. Love it for its completely leftfield sound of electronic minimalism, drum and bass feel that sounds unlike anything else on the record. It’s a track I can tell was created for fun or something back when they recorded the album and whilst recognising it didn’t sonically fit in, knew was too good to throw away.
It’s got such an early morning sunrise ambience to it. A lot of my Hopes and Fears nostalgia as I mentioned in another comment comes from listening to it on summer holidays to France into my youth. We’d stay in these large holiday resort parks in rural Brittany, and leave on the last day at the crack of dawn to get home in good time, and we’d have the album playing, and hearing the opening of Untitled 1 gives me the most emotional nostalgia trip to my 2000s childhood I could ask for.
Me and my Mum had such a great night, and I have her to thank for shaping my music taste. I’m into all sorts these days (Depeche, Boards of Canada, Jean Michel Jarre, Everything Everything, The 1975, Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Kraftwerk, The Cure, Nation of Language, Dry Cleaning, Talk Talk, Aphex Twin among many more) and I have my Mum to thank for that taste because she happened to get Hopes and Fears for her 32nd birthday as a gift from my Dad back in 2004.
Great footage, you always get so close to the band, I could never afford to get those kinds of tickets for every show! Haha
I’ve posted some of my own clips to my channel too, I do gig videos too!
Here’s to a 20 Years of Under the Iron Sea tour in 2 years! 😂 Ngl, I’m looking forward more to that one if it happens than I was for this show. Hopes and Fears is good for it’s gentle alternative piano rock in reminding me of childhood, but UTIS is an album I didn’t listen to as much back in the day and rediscovered more as an adult and appreciate for its darker mature tones and feel and themes of war, and for its unique distorted piano elements creating a merciless atmosphere of dread and fear that just weighs you down like an iron sea would. It’s an album that’s got more important, timelessly worldly things to say than Hopes and Fears.
    Cheers Gab!
