Ernest "Kilroy" Roybal, 75, is an original Mexican Mafia member originally from White Fence in Boyle Heights in East LA. He spent nearly 40 years in prison, from the 1950s to 1993 when he was released. When Kilroy was released from Pelican Bay's SHU, when he was about 54, he walked away from his high ranking position and became active in his church, and has been a devout Christian for the last 20 years. My old neighbor was a true OG. He was in his late 70's to early 80's and he used to sit in a chair under a tree in front of our apartment building in South Hayward. I always thought he was just a nice old man, witch he was, but one day I knocked on his door to use his phone and he answered the door with his shirt off and he had a big 1 on one side of his chest and a big 4 on the other side. He had found peace and religion and escaped the gang life. He was one of the nicest men I've ever known but there's no telling what he did in his past.
