A human character, I forget from which game, confesses to being 300 years old and looking forward to 300 more. Wyverians can probably live for thousands of years. 40 years is nothing.
Bryan Merrill Really? Because it sounds like he hasn't lived past 1,000 to actually make that claim. Sticking to hundreds of years, and from that statement, 40 is more than 1/8 of 300.
Strawfoot I don't think Kulve Taroth is a threat to the ecosystem, not unless she wanted to be. She's one of the most gentle and peaceful Elder Dragons, as least as much as something her size can be. The Guild doesn't want to kill Kulve Taroth, otherwise they would continue chasing her once she gets past the final area. Something I’ve noticed is that whenever you fight an Elder Dragon (excluding the huge ones like Zorah because it’s too big to even focus on you and Nerg because of how violent and bloodthirsty it is), they always study you up before attacking or let you attack first. I think this is the Elder Dragons judging whether you will be a worthy opponent. If they wanted to, most Elder Dragons could kill us in an instant ( Kirin can move as fast as lightning itself and Daora could just suck all of the air away) that they know it’s the end of their lifetime and so are judging whether you are strong enough to defeat them. Since only the oldest Elder Dragons have made the Elder Crossing, they would have both witnessed the atrocities of the Ancient Civilization and be wise enough to realize humanity now respects them since back in the Old World, Elder Dragons are only hunted in emergencies such as if a village, city or ecosystem is being threatened. Considering the gruesome way Daora dies naturally, I’d be glad to die at the hands of someone else if I was one.
The Nergigante is also not at the end of its lifespan, it's actively out here doing the predator thing: feeding on the sick and old. It's not looking for a place to die, it's looking for lunch.
Strawfoot Thank you so much! After watching your videos, I decided to try and make something like these myself, so I’m making Ecologies for the monsters in the game. I haven’t finished or uploaded any of them yet, and since I don’t have any recording equipment, I’m going to put them on Tumblr and DeviantArt, but when I do eventually get them done. I’m going to put you as one of my inspirations.
LashknifeTalon I think with Nergigante, since it feeds on Elder Dragons, it’s only awake during the Elder Crossing, and just hibernates for the rest of the century or more recently, decade since Elders provide huge amounts of bio energy when they die
Kulve Taroth is my new favorite Elder Dragon. The golden armor, the multistage fight, the unique moveset, the elegant design... She is truly regal. Now I just need a few more scales to finish my armour set.
Strawfoot Hi again! My post originally said "Ender dragon" instead of Elder dragon, probably because my auto-correct changes it to that if I misspell it with an M or K. So I fixed once it was pointed out.
Strawfoot The most likely explanation is that individuals of that species have different colored hides depending on the minerals present in the environment they live in.
Kulve's siege was mainly initiated because a relatively high ranking member of the Research Commission had a vendetta against her. She posed far less of a threat than the Daora, Dire Miralis, Fatalis, Alatreon, and countless other Elder Dragons that could wipe out the world if they wanted to. Someone influential simply put in repetitive requests to officiate a siege, and thus a siege was begun on and Elder Dragon who was doing relatively nothing to the ecosystem and staying in her own den.
Yeah, I think some of the problem is the language barrier. In japan there's a ton of supplementary materials that add to immersion, books, mangas, anime, they even have a theme park. Here we miss out on all that stuff, and since most of it never gets translated we miss a lot of the story stuff.
No joke, I have your lore vids in a playlist that I fall asleep to some nights. I absolutely love your writing style and how you read these stories. Who wouldn’t want to fall asleep to damn good MH story?! I don’t need my Teddy Ruxbin anymore...
I'm so happy you did a video on this monster! I don't have the game and this monster looks so amazing I just wanted to learn everything about it, so thanks for this video!
King Grimlock I think the game dosent recognize Dire Miralis and Fatalis as actual monsters because they don't have symbols and they are considered secret bosses (I think I could be wrong) but since there are rarely any sightings of those monsters the guild refuses to say or do anything concrete. But that's just my speculation
the first 2 are black dragons, a hunter with the skills to face one are few and far between. the risk of losing 5-16 of the best hunter on a hunt gone bad is not something the guild would want. Gog just wanted some gunpowder, the guild was willing to lose the fortress but sent hunters anyway. but that's just a theory, a game theory.
The Humanoid Cat Angel I see where you’re coming from, but the guild knows very well the threat to the entire human race monsters like each Fatalis, Dire Miralis, Alatreon, Amatsu, Dalamadur etc. pose. It doesn’t make sense to me why they would break the rule of five for a Gold Coated Elder but not a world ending elder.
Fun fact if you catch a shiny gold helm crab and go to place it down in a room it will say that it eats dragon pods like crazy is this what causes kulve turoths gold?
I do have a question. The rule of five. I believe that's actual lore but I don't understand it. Can you explain it to me? Like how does having four keep balance but not five? Like lore wise
After that event hunting in more than 4 brought very bad luck to those hunts, many hunters died. The guild was forced to create that rule to keep in balance the number of hunters and even now they break it only if it is extremely necessary. Though I have no idea about how should it balance ecosystems...
So I think that initially the Guild limited hunting to small groups, but didn't have a specific number in mind. This was to protect the ecosystem. After the events in the story they set the number at no more than 4. That's my understanding of it anyway. I mean really it's just a fun way of explaining a game mechanic that was probably created after the fact to explain a game design decision.
It's to do with the MH1 village chief's wife coming on a hunt with him and 3 other hunters against a Lao (I think) and she died and from then on the rule of four was created because it was seen as bad luck to have more than four hunters per party. Edit: Should have watched the video further because you mention it. :D
@Mudshrooze, my best guess is that it’s more got to do with the cat carts. If you haven’t played earlier MonHuns, when you faint, you get taken on a cart pushed by two Felynes back to base. My best assumption is that the cat carts were only prepared to deal with teams of 4 hunters by default. When there were five, they lost track of the fifth, and she was slain (note that she was apparently only discovered as dead _after_ the battle).
The Gidzor you might have a point there, they did mention on the hunter’s notes that the mantle differs between individuals, perhaps the male gathers silver or maybe crystals, hmmm,...
I love that they keep it consistent what colour will suit what gender, Capcom once said that gold was more of a mother color and silver is more a father color and now we have this golden Elder Dragon who is female, really love that!
@Strawfoot Very nice videos. Watched your work in a marathon. I like how you present the lore in a nature-documentary like format as the scholar who immersed himself in the MH World and got close to these creatures (albeit the "Peace out" at the end pulls me back to remember this is a youtube video hehe). All in all, good job! Subbed and I look forward to watching more of your work.
Hey Adrenalinerush369, thanks for the comment and the sub. I have a Lore series video releasing tomorrow and I might have switched up the "peace out" outro a little bit... maybe. Make sure you check it out and let me know how I did :)
Strawfoot: These forces of nature are too dangerous for small groups of hunters to face alone Me, hunting zorah magdaros solo with not a single bit of help from the npcs: excuse me?
Great video! Seems you enjoy and put a lot of time in your work. I love Monster Hunter and enjoy learning all i can about the lore of monsters and the overall history itself. Thank you!!!
Strawfoot I love to role-play too, I'm a blind hunter donning the death stench armour sets in mhw (lost my eye sight to a Savage Deviljho in the old days.) would love to be able to get my hunting horn I designed back in March into mhw; like the rocket greatsword. (it's a hh made up of a whole lot of elder dragon skulls that once played open there mouths and start screaming as the melodies play (the name of it is called the Soulless Cries) eg: a mouth opening effect like the new deviljho hh but for all the skulls...) but one I'm not that great at 3D modelling or digital painting and not sure where I would submit it? Anyway thanks for the videos and look forward to hearing more lore and watching more content you release!~
What folly does one have to assume that they know how the Ecosystem is supposed to be. However it worries me that there are so many creatures that don't regulate themselves. Are we responsible for this?
Hey strawfoot i lovze your video and your the one ho push me to buy monster hunter world and for that thank cus i just love this game. One last thing, does the great jagras full armur is good cus i just crafted one today?? Anyways have a good day!
Thanks so much SloppyMop. Before I started this youtube thing I was always nervous about how my voice sounds but now I get so many positive comments about it! Anyway it's always great to hear that people like what I'm doing. Have a great day!
I just got a switch so I haven't actually got to him yet. I'll certainly add him to my list of requests, although it may be a bit before I can make the video. I've been playing so much world I haven't made much progress in XX
The Guild in 4U: iT’s BeSt To HaVe 4 HuNtErS fOr G-rAnK Me: the more hunters with me, the higher the chance of someone getting carted This is pretty much why I soloed Gogmazios and earned G-Crown status.
"A threat to the environment" The GOLD dragon living in a GOLD cave with tunnels big enough for it to travel thru is a threat to the environment?...By that logic other threats of nature would be trees, grass, rock, and Friggin H²O
i really love your lore,. can i make a request ? i want to know more about hunter guild, like who's created guild hunter and more.... sorry about selfish request
No, that's not selfish. Leaving comments helps me out a lot, and I'm always looking for good topics for future videos. I'll look into that topic and see if I can find anything out.
That's very possible Bryan, he would have to be very old to have grown so large, and he obviously holds a high position within the guild. Also thanks for so many comments, that's amazingly awesome of you. I'll have to read and respond to them all when I get some free time here!
Sorry dude but I gotta disagree, Kulve Taroth isn’t a danger your whole video makes her out to be this evil environmental destroyer. She’s not she doesn’t go around attacking the hunters or the local wildlife, if anything she has created a thriving environment that revolves around her. You forgot the whole purpose of this hunt is to break her horns so the research commission can understand her magnetic powers. I don’t mean to be rude but you didn’t give any real information about Kulve Taroth.
I just fall in love with your simpatic and dramatical voice acting and how you sound like someone ho can fit in the monster hunter world PS: no homo XD
Thanks Kael, that's so great to hear. You know, before I started this youtube series I was always very self conscious about my voice. Now getting so many nice comments like this it makes me very happy. Thank you. :)
Hey! I have a question How many elder dragon are there in one species? For example if i see a Kushala Daora I have to say “a Kushala” or “Kushala” as a name? Are they unique? Are they just very rare? If there are unique how do they reproduce? How many years can an elder dragon have? Well it not just one question...
It would be "a Kushala" although sometimes it said the other way in game for dramatic effect. For the most part they aren't unique, and some of them are rarer than others. Kushala for example used to be very common but they were hunted so much in the first age for their metal that they are far less common now. I don't know how many years they can live but it seems to be a very long time (unless hunters kill the early like what happened to poor xeno jiva the moment he was born).

That's so rad, link me to whatever you create so I can see it, also I can probably put a link in my video description to get you some views.
The rule of four wouldn't had been broken if the General had found his dragonator.
WHERE"S MY DRAGONATOR!
Hey strawfoot!
Great video as always
Kulve Taroth is my new favorite Elder Dragon. The golden armor, the multistage fight, the unique moveset, the elegant design... She is truly regal. Now I just need a few more scales to finish my armour set.
OtakuUnitedStudio My favourite Ender dragon is the minecraft one
bego bogo Fix'd. Gosh, I hate branded autocorrect.
I'm so confused by this thread... I must have missed something. But yes Kulve is super rad. Also hi again Otaku!
OtakuUnitedStudio she (yes, she's confirmed to be female, I think) was soo Tough I died a couple of times due to her fire breath
Strawfoot Hi again! My post originally said "Ender dragon" instead of Elder dragon, probably because my auto-correct changes it to that if I misspell it with an M or K. So I fixed once it was pointed out.
Also kulve tarroth has emerald bits hinting she was emerald
yeah she does doesn't she. I wonder what that's about.
Strawfoot

DID SOMEONE SAY LOAD THE CANNONS?
JOSH!!! You're the best man, couldn't have made this without you!
Strawfoot I got you
Just bring HBG with wyvernhearth.
Mount and load that shit.
You make me feel so immersed in the world of MH. I wish the game did a better job of doing this.
Yeah, I think some of the problem is the language barrier. In japan there's a ton of supplementary materials that add to immersion, books, mangas, anime, they even have a theme park. Here we miss out on all that stuff, and since most of it never gets translated we miss a lot of the story stuff.
@strawfoot I run a D&D/Monster Hunter homebrew game. Would like to introduce you as an Scholar NPC, do you like a particular race on dnd?
Yeah always elf. Also I think this is my new favorite comment ever. You'll have to let me know how the game goes :)
Strawfoot will do! Your Lore videos have helped me tons on building that world and the Hunter's Guild interaction with it.
OzMcfaol duuude you beat me to it. Course I don't have a lot of friends but man it sounds so fun.
That is badass. I had just started playing DnD with my family before MH World came out. Need to get back to it!

But Teddy Ruxbin get's so lonely, don't abandon him. Also I should start a channel where I read bed time stories, that would be so weird.
Strawfoot lol, I guess I can wire him up and force him to tell your stories. Alright Teddy, you’re safe for now...
I'm in it for the bling.
That gold armor does look pretty sweet!
"How can any lone hunter hope to stand against a force of nature?"
WHERES MY DRAGONATOR
lol
Beautiful!! So great hunting with you last night. What an honor!
The honor was all mine Seraphie. Let's hunt again soon!
Kulve Taroth showing up after 40 years? WHERE'S MY DRAGONATOR?!
HinDae! Where is that dragonator? we need it down in the caves!
That rule of five got me back to Monster Hunter 1. Great memories! Thanks man!
You're very welcome Beto Lima!
I'm so happy you did a video on this monster! I don't have the game and this monster looks so amazing I just wanted to learn everything about it, so thanks for this video!
Thanks Cat Angel, you're very welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.
If a monster is so powerful, how come the rule of five hasn't been broken against a Fatalis, Dire Miralis, or Gogmazios?
I don't know, you'd have to ask the Hunters Guild, they call all the shots. Also 'cause you know, video game logic.
Strawfoot I find that interesting/weird that the guild would break the rule of five for Kulve Taroth, but not the world ending monsters I listed
King Grimlock I think the game dosent recognize Dire Miralis and Fatalis as actual monsters because they don't have symbols and they are considered secret bosses (I think I could be wrong) but since there are rarely any sightings of those monsters the guild refuses to say or do anything concrete.

Those Glimstones are agony. Still love Gold Mama, though.
That sucks, they have been dropping all over for me. I made all the armor and have several left over. The RNG is brutal in this game.
Strawfoot I'm jealous. I accidentally used one for a wrong piece of armor
Desire-sama is a cruel mistress...
Gold prints ftw!
I just recently found these videos. Just wanted to say these Lore videos are amazing I'm binge watching them all
Like always a job well done my favorite lore iron breaker.
Thank you Gabriel. Very much appreciated. What's the iron breaker reference from?
Fun fact if you catch a shiny gold helm crab and go to place it down in a room it will say that it eats dragon pods like crazy is this what causes kulve turoths gold?

@Mudshrooze, my best guess is that it’s more got to do with the cat carts.

Mudshrooze It's considered bad luck. Sort of like the number 13
Makes you wonder what a male Kulve Taroth looks like,..
Well there are Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos flying around in the world of Monster Hunter so I guess the male version might look silver.
I know right, maybe we get that in another dlc. :)
The Gidzor you might have a point there, they did mention on the hunter’s notes that the mantle differs between individuals, perhaps the male gathers silver or maybe crystals, hmmm,...
Ryaquaza 1 Or maybe ROCKET. POWERED. GREATSWORDS.
I love that they keep it consistent what colour will suit what gender, Capcom once said that gold was more of a mother color and silver is more a father color and now we have this golden Elder Dragon who is female, really love that!
Awesome vid as usual. I was gonna wait to actually fight Kulve Taroth before watching this, but I'm too busy this week. Great video as always!
Glad you liked it, I tried not to put spoilers in it because I was worried about that. There's a lot more going on with that quest than what I showed.
Hey Adrenalinerush369, thanks for the comment and the sub. I have a Lore series video releasing tomorrow and I might have switched up the "peace out" outro a little bit... maybe. Make sure you check it out and let me know how I did :)
Sure thing! Clicked on the bell icon already for your channel so I get alerted to anything released :D
We are in no place to slay the elder dragons, they are our world's original owners.
I admire all forms of life, from kelbi to Fatalis
Strawfoot: These forces of nature are too dangerous for small groups of hunters to face alone
Me, hunting zorah magdaros solo with not a single bit of help from the npcs: excuse me?
Been waiting for this video, Strawfoot. You did not disappoint.
Rad! I'm glad my video met expectations!
This is my zen. Thank you for continuing to be amazing.
Aww, thanks Shaneomac. Now I want to go read my book of zen koans.
The way u explain it is perfect
Great video! Seems you enjoy and put a lot of time in your work. I love Monster Hunter and enjoy learning all i can about the lore of monsters and the overall history itself. Thank you!!!
You're right, I really do enjoy making these. Thanks so much for the kind words slayerAnt!
I’ve been waiting for this one! Great damn vid Strawfoot.
Why thank you Andrew.
I like how our handler took half of Our credit.
"Too dangerous for 4 hunters" cuts to me shitting on kulve's forehead....
Kinda funny how Lao Shang Lung was the one who basically started the rule of five, yet the rule is broken to fight him LOL
Hello Strawfoot, what is your favorite weapon type to use in Monster Hunter World? I'm particularly fond of both the switch axe and dual blades.
For me it's bowgun (both heavy and light) and lance. Of those there light bowgun is probably the one I've used the most.
Great job on the video! Like the role playing start. Enjoy the lore too!
Thanks so much Michael, I do have fun with the role playing! :)
Anyway thanks for the videos and look forward to hearing more lore and watching more content you release!~
that hunting horn would be rad. I wish they would put it in the game. Also great character description, that's a really fun concept.
Really liked the narrative on this one.
That's awesome, thanks Clayton!
"I don't think I can do this alone" *shows vids of hunters soloing Kulve Taroth*
She's a beautiful elder dragon though. Like her design is gorgeous.
Every time Kulve looks around she looks like she has miss placed her shopping. 😊
Yay for another great video! Thanks Strawfoot. :)
Lizzy boo!
Amazing video as always man love you!
Thanks for the kind words Red Death, I appreciate your continued support of the channel and I'm so glad you are enjoying the content!

Great vid buttons were all clicked! Hope you farmed kulve while she was here.
Daz I farmed the heck out of that golden goat. Got both sets of armor and a bunch of mediocre weapons. Yay!
Hi strawfoot! Nice lore video!
Why thank you sir!
the first time she transformed to the 4 stage I was like...... TIME TO BRING MA MAIN LANCE.
Yeah guard lance is a solid weapon choice against Kulve for sure. Thanks for the comments flzerocs
I really enjoy your content man, I subbed early on and even hit that bell cause I really look forward to your videos! Keep up the good work man!
Thank you Chris, that's awesome that you used the bell. I feel so special now!

Yay! Thanks friend!
Thanks for the videos
Hi Strawfoot
You're so very welcome, and also hi again Mr Magic!
What folly does one have to assume that they know how the Ecosystem is supposed to be. However it worries me that there are so many creatures that don't regulate themselves. Are we responsible for this?
Great video. The way you explain it kinda gives me a Hunter x Hunter Chimera ant arc vibe.
Awesome, so glad you liked it Say'Vahn! Thanks for the comment.
The rule of five was applied in the kulve quest
You have a very soothing voice
It's perfect for this lore video :)
Thank you Maku chan, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, and the comment is greatly appreciated!

@@Strawfoot Wow thanks man, any ideas for another monster lore ? A monster I've been interested in lately is from Geneations, Nakarkos
This video is officially supported by footstraw. :D
footstrawlowkeymoney is my hero
I love how the kulve Taroth looks like a demonic Ram (male sheep)
Can you do a lore video on Valfalk?
I just got a switch so I haven't actually got to him yet. I'll certainly add him to my list of requests, although it may be a bit before I can make the video. I've been playing so much world I haven't made much progress in XX
Strawfoot I hope they add Valfalk to MH world
And we find an overgrown great jagras underneath
That's a scary Jagras though! :)
The Guild in 4U: iT’s BeSt To HaVe 4 HuNtErS fOr G-rAnK
Me: the more hunters with me, the higher the chance of someone getting carted
This is pretty much why I soloed Gogmazios and earned G-Crown status.
"A threat to the environment"
The GOLD dragon living in a GOLD cave with tunnels big enough for it to travel thru is a threat to the environment?...By that logic other threats of nature would be trees, grass, rock, and Friggin H²O
Love your vids
Thank you so very much Wa'ie.
I love your videos dude
Thank you so very much Richard!
The tiny shiny crabs remind me of that crab from Moana, Tamatoa he was called?
That's funny I didn't even think of that! Thanks Tobi.
Strawfoot
Maybe we'll get a DLC that reveals the smaller crabs are just immature forms of a larger golden crab that we have to hunt.
I miss your channel
More metal than kushala
Hotter than teostra
More aggresive than Nergigante
Tis' is the Kulve Taroth
Aww man, that's good, you made a better description than me. I like it!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I love the vid ❤️
Thank you Eddy!
Kulve Taroth AKA The Golden Goat AKA Best Girl
She has all the bling. Thanks Adam!
Is it still possible to currently join the kulve taroth siege??
now..where's my dragonator?!
"hold my beer"
lol I forgot that was there. awesome. :) Thanks DDFreddi.
Aw yes, I do love me some "R E S E A R C H"
i really love your lore,. can i make a request ? i want to know more about hunter guild, like who's created guild hunter and more....
sorry about selfish request
No, that's not selfish. Leaving comments helps me out a lot, and I'm always looking for good topics for future videos. I'll look into that topic and see if I can find anything out.
I feel like His Immenseness from MH4U had a hand in creating the Guild.
That's very possible Bryan, he would have to be very old to have grown so large, and he obviously holds a high position within the guild. Also thanks for so many comments, that's amazingly awesome of you. I'll have to read and respond to them all when I get some free time here!
I would like to see ligiana lore
You didn't mention the super rare Tsuchinoko. :P
Haha, that's because I'm salty that I haven't found one yet. >:/
I went out to find it and after the first couple of runs ran into two. :D Shiny Helmcrab was more rare for me but then I found two as well.
How to fight a force of nature, call Godzilla
Yeah, but not the goofy new computer animated Godzilla. I want the old Toho Scope Godzilla. That one was the best.
I also want to see Godzilla vs Gundam, I think that would be my fav crossover ever.
Strawfoot 98 or 2014?
2014 was a better godzilla than 1998 for sure but I'm really not that big of a fan of either. the 1954-1975 Godzilla movies are the best ones.
I know what you mean, personally the 2001 version is my ideal godzilla
*dies in kulve taroth fight regardless of safety, not I don't faint.*
Is she really a thread tho? She's just there
Sorry dude but I gotta disagree, Kulve Taroth isn’t a danger your whole video makes her out to be this evil environmental destroyer.
Sorry it wasn't your cup of tea, I do my best but I'm sure there's always room for improvement. I'll try to do better next time.
Strawfoot I could help you make another video based on a few theories I have
I just fall in love with your simpatic and dramatical voice acting and how you sound like someone ho can fit in the monster hunter world
PS: no homo XD
Thanks Kael, that's so great to hear. You know, before I started this youtube series I was always very self conscious about my voice. Now getting so many nice comments like this it makes me very happy. Thank you. :)
Hey! I have a question
How many elder dragon are there in one species?
Strawfoot I have been wandering this for a long time
Till today, thank you
you're very welcome!
how did you get that old hunter armor
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
