This filter works great as media reactor with chemie pure. Sits in the sump circulates the water in the simer chamber so stuf won't collect on the bottom
The 3168 have the same versatility like 3163 just except the room to place the heater , I have the 3168 in my 120 gallons just with filter watte and matrix.
What filtration media would you recommend putting in there? I use marine pure gems in a filter bag with the included pre-filter sponge - and sometimes a carbon pad above it. I turn the filter off during feedings to keep the marine pure clean which I don’t care too much about as I want a high pod population. Not sure if pods would even inhabit the gems by getting past the seachem filter bag, but do you recommend using filter floss and changing it out every three days like a filter sock?
Will this provide enough oxygen? I have a 30 gallon with a HOB to have water fall in the tank. I’m afraid my fishes won’t have enough oxygen if i switch to this.
Just wanted to say I love Thomas. So happy he joined BRS. He thought me a big majority of what I know about planted tanks. He's the best!!

Was looking for the strategy to insert a carbon filter media bag in the 3168 if you are doing another video someday.
Line the container with an empty media bag poor media in the container lined with the bag

I've never used the Comline filter, but I have found the Comline Protein skimmer to be extremely valuable due to it's footprint
Will BRS ever sell the Tunze 9410.000 Doc Skimmers? I would love to see a review from your channel on these skimmers.

It’s on tunze’s website. I believe the 3162 holds a 10 inch heater, up to 75 watts they say.

Filter floss is a great option when using this filter! Just be sure to change it out regularly to keep good flow circulating through the filter 🙂

You will be fine if you have some surface agitation. Just point a powerhead towards the surface.
Like Chris said, as long as you have some surface agitation, you'll be good to go!
