Nice, save my checking about eurorack connection. Just got my pre-order delivered today. Playing with this is so much fun, can see people getting lost in hours of playing with this.
Sounds WONDERFUL!!! Can't wait to receive my pre-order in the mail any day now. Love your videos, always full of inspiration and information plus great grooves and Soundscapes ❤🎉
Neat to see practical ways this can be expanded with other gear. Especially since I feel like almost everyone has an Arturia keystep or something similar.
Love your vid Starsky. After you made this one, it makes total sense why they just left the envelope out as at the end of the day LFO and envelope are really not very different. It is a cool little box. Probably lots of fun to play with who knows maybe someday I’ll get my hands on one thanks to you and your endless Ability to make us want more.
This was a great demo, I could've listened to even more of that, it was quite relaxing! - Stylophone recently announced the CPM DF-8 envelope+filter module, which is the next logical addition to the range. What next, CPM FM-6? 😄
Got mine yesterday. If you've got some studio headphones you can plug into the main out and it sounds cleaner. Its also easier using the bigger main out knob than the tiny headphone knob The classic feedback path of routing the headphone out into the aux in makes it growl like a bear when cranked up
Good ol' 606! Never obsolete! (I've had one since '83). I used to use it to trigger my JX-3P's sequencer. It was great to do that because you could program different trigger patterns to play the same sequence and get some really good variations.
@@StarskyCarr Do! One of my favorite things to do was to set up a pattern on the 606 with the Scale Function set to 4/4. Have that triggering the sequence, then at some point flip the Scale Function to something else. It was especially helpful on the JX-3P because programming its sequencer was a pain (an up to 128 step pain!). Manually inserting rests and all. It was easier to just put in a bunch of notes and let the 606 act as a trigger sequencer.
Oh man, I got my Stylophone DS-2 a few days ago, and I happened across this video. The triggering with the TR-606 looks very cool, but unfortunately, those are way too pricey. Fortunately, I remembered I had a Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-110 around the place, and it's got Accent trigger out, so I'm going to hook it up and go to town! Next, I need to get one of those little Arturia keyboards... Thanks for the video!
Big thanx for sharing🙏! I‘ve got mine too and I have a very noisy sound on the delay especially when I turn the time knob after 12 o‘clock. Is that a normal reaction? Greetings 🖖☺️
I couldn't see the connector properly but if it's two wire, it probably runs on +12V DC and has an internal inverter for -12V. You'd just need a custom cable to plug it onto the Eurorack bus board, if so. If it's three wires, probably still just a custom cable for +/-12V and Ground. 3:14 looks like two wires and some sort of JST or similar.
@@StarskyCarr It's hard to tell without measuring it, but it could be Mini-T / Micro RS4 or JST-PH. Those are sold for radio control use, mostly for transmitter battery connections, but JST-PH is sometimes also used in electronics. I think that might be what the Intellijel small blue reverb tank uses.
I might still be able to press it into use, but with a little bit of custom wiring, eh? Perhaps it might be best to use homemade bodge job modules for testing purposes.
@ One way would be to cut those two wires and put new connectors in between to join them back up. That way it doesn't matter what the plug is - just make some new adaptors for the connectors you've added.
When gigging musicians showcase their gear it's usually scratched, dented and banged up; when synthfluencers showcase their gear it's usually full of dust or covered with animal hair, least to mention that keystep 37
That 606 has seen some action. I’m so super careful with my gear - that sits in its own mini flight case, and my Alpha Juno was gigged to death. The case is knackered but the synth looks good. I’ve never understood how others get so battered. But the cat hairs are everywhere! They like sitting on it next to anything that’s plugged in - I guess it’s for the heat.
Hello there wonderful community of synth enthusiasts. I have an interesting query to bring up. I do have this amateurish approach towards the elaborate realm of synthesizers and modular drone devices. I own a Maschine MK3 and have been practising for a couple of years on it, obviously have reached a certain, steady level, but because of my inquisitive nature, I would like to build up on this, and extend my creativity through different means, and by saying that, another concept comes into the picture. I have recently purchased the CPM DS-2 drone synth from Stylophone, a truly powerful sturdy box that can conceive musical wonders. However I want to attempt a connection between the maschine MK3 and the DS-2 drone. MK3 does have a couple of midi outputs though, but the DS-2 does not, only multiple connection points which can work with standard audio cables. After a few searches online, I found out that there might be a possibility via a MIDI to CV converter. Would that still be applicable in this particular case I wonder, food for thought. Any ideas, suggestions about a possible/feasible setup guys ? I would definitely appreciate. Cheers !!
A MIDI TO CV converter would definitely work to send pitch and gate (pitch for tuning, gate for LFO reset). There’s loads of options here, but possibly the most fun would be to buy a synth that has one built in. The OG BassStation rack had one. Kenton are the industry standard converters I guess, but things like the Behringer Crave might also work (I can’t remember off the top of my head). A fun rabbit hole if options to discover 😂😵💫👍
im controlling them bot with the same CV - the white cable from the Arturia splits to the 2 red ones.. You could tune them independently with 2 CVs - eg Keystep pro channels 1 and 2 - no MIDI
It’s a single LFO with 2 outputs. The 2nd is linked to the 1st … different shapes, phases and can be double or quad speed depending on the shape selected. So they always start at the same reset point…. If that makes any sense!
My Strega is anxious to meet her baby brother. She wants to play right away. I said "He's likely to scream and wail an awful lot. You ready for that?" To which, she started vibrating with feedback.
Is it just me or does this device have a pretty nasally quality? I'm sure I'll get jumped on because everyone's excited to get their new toy, but those two videos didn't get me too excited by the sound.
Thanks, this was the demo I was most curious to hear.
Spot on! Cheers Starsky 😉
Envelopes? Envelopes!?! We don't need no stinking envelopes.
Good stuff Starsky.

@TweelerDotCom says you can - just a standard Eurorack cable, after all.
I did last night... amazing little box of weirdness. :)
Apparently the main bit does just take a standard Eurorack cable, it's just hard to re-use the case for other modules.

You can get a fully analogue behringer copy of the 606 for less than a hundred quid 👍
Oh lovely. Thank you for the episode 2, and following up my question!
Shucks, regarding the power. As I suspected. But no loss, just not a Wizz bag bonus.
Man it sounds so good, how is possible that modern moog costs 4 times more and doesn’t sound so good and warm like this stylophone 😏
This is great! It does sound good. Please do a demo on the Sonicware Ambient 0, that is another great drone synth!
I’ve not got one of those but I’ve a few other Sonicware bits. I never realised it was a drone style tbh.
This demo is giving some big Incunabula vibes! Autriche in particular :)
That’s awesome! Now I really want one!
Very nice gear very nice video... Starting like a forest from the cure?
Thank you. Good to know you can connect a keyboard!
Alright. You just sold me.
Wow that's amazing ❤
Instant minimal wave. I'm buying this record :D
I really wished you could use the case for other euro modules, but hey. great little synth nonetheless.
Thanks. I got mine today. Made some crappy videos two showing the waveforms of the lfo an osc.
Very cool
😂 I'm looking for reasons not to buy it...GREAT demo
Wish the Lyra 8 would track like this on it's cv/gate ports....
Big thanx for sharing🙏! I‘ve got mine too and I have a very noisy sound on the delay especially when I turn the time knob after 12 o‘clock. Is that a normal reaction? Greetings 🖖☺️
YES! I knew this thing could be musical when I ordered it. I assume we can reset the LFO with gate signals as well?
I don’t see why not - that’s a nice idea I wish I’d demo’d. Syncing with key presses.
Got mine today. No sodding about with menus, wi-fi, cliche presets.
I reckon that it would play nicely with a the Behringer Edge or Moog DFAM.
What if you added behringer’s td 3 mo?
Thx for posting 👍

no custom cable necessary, just a standard eurorack cable. I've just installed it in my eurorack and it works like a charm

Only the fx

Hi!
There is one reset input for LFO but there are two LFO's.
How does it work?
It’s a single LFO with 2 outputs. The 2nd is linked to the 1st … different shapes, phases and can be double or quad speed depending on the shape selected. So they always start at the same reset point…. If that makes any sense!

Ello, if you're looking for short video ideas could you show what the 'Filter CV in' does on the Behringer PRO800 please 🥺❤️
Can anyone in Europe point me in the direction of a psu for this please?
Any standard 12v tip positive will work
Planning to connect mine to my neutron to give envelopes & trig, maybe cv.

I’ve probably over done things with the FX trying ti demo what they sound like. The reverb isn’t the best, but useful. The delay is great.
It was a bit of the nose, yes, perhaps the particular patch. I actually wouldn't mind some A, D and sustain switches for each voice, or midi.
