This was one of the many Motown hits written by the songwriting team Holland-Dozier-Holland.

Smokey Robinson also wrote for Motown. Know he wrote for The Temptations. It took 2 years of songs written before Berry Gordy was satisfied with their 1st hit: "My Girl" ~ 2 YEARS! And voila, 5 young, talented Men became Stars ~ Rest is History ~!

Twon, I saw a beautiful tribute to Mary Wells (RIP), by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (inductees), within 3 years of it's inception. "Stoned Love", and " Reflections", OMFG.

Yes. That was Diana Ross in the center. I recall those days as if they were yesterday. And although they played in black and white on our TV sets, believe me our world was in living color. Another artist you need to check out is Johnny Mathis.

The 60's was a great decade, coinciding with my teenage years. It was like an explosion of musical creativity, every month producing some blockbusting record. The difference is that we had to save our pennies in order to hear the music, only some being played on the radio. Now, you just click a button & it's all free! But whereas we had it in dribs & drabs, you have it all coming to you at once. But it's a treasure all right.

As much as I've listened to this song over the years (late 70s baby, here), I've never really isolated the bass. Man, listen- whole Motown style/sound arrangement was progressively unique and untouched! I know classics arguably shouldn't be tampered with, but I'd love to hear a 2021 version, placing emphasis on that bass section. 🔥

This is a live version. It was a number one on billboard. A tad before I was born but a real music lover listens to music that is older than said subject. Here you can hear ALL of the voices. A true Supremes song

Growing up in a small town in the UK in the 60s, every girl I knew spent time with a hairbrush for a microphone singing in front of the mirror and wishing they were cool enough to be in the Supremes. Love this.

Classy Ladies ~! Berry Gordy was a genius ~ Saw the talent in Detroit AND Hitsville U.S.A. was created, later to become Motown ~ And turned the young and talented into Stars. The Motown Sound was unique. Forever Classic. Twon, glad to watch Motown Mondays with you. And there is A LOT of Motown. ~ The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Martha & The Vandellas, and the beat goes on ~ Be back next Monday ~ Love & Happiness to my youngest and beloved Banger ( even though you are so mischievous sometimes, funny ) ~ Much Love, Itia ~! P.S. That's what Aussies call Italians, Itia(s) ~:-) ( Just so you know ) Ciao ~!

It's important to note they are singing this live. The mic leads are taped to the stands for tidiness.

Motown Monday is a great idea! Thanks for bringing it to us.
Stop! In the Name of Love was The Supremes 4th consecutive number one in a row. They would make it 5 in a row with their next release and it’s a record they hold to this day. In total, with Diana as lead, they had 12 number ones which is the most for any American group ever, male or female.
Some members of The Temptations helped the Supremes with the choreography and together they came up with the Stop! hand gesture.
Diana is the lady in the middle and she still sings this song in concert using the same hand gesture with the audience doing the same. Lots of fun!
I saw The Supremes sing this live in concert in 1965 and again in 1968. I recommend that you incorporate Diana’s solo hit “Chain Reaction” in your program. She recorded it in the 80s and it hit number one internationally. It has a total Motown/Supremes sound and in the video she travels from the 60s to the 80s. Fab.

So listen..have you ever been in a funk & wanted to gone outsidefor space/air & then suddenly ...refreshing gusts of cool wind cone along just snapping you out if that oppressive mood? That what listening to Calufornia Deamin' will do. Lyrics aren't deep...but it has a particular refreshing vibe I think you would appreciate. The group members are not related...they are a random lookin foursome...but their voices were made for one another. Super refreshing super cool groove

Hey ther 👋🏽👋🏽😁😁. Yes baby that’s Diana Ross. And I love how she sing all this great music back in the days. I LOVE THIS GREAT MUSIC 🎵 since the 80s. When I was a young 12 years old. And I still do in this year 2022 👍👍
I love music from the 60s 70s I just think it was the best music everrrrrrr!!! Unfortunately on my own personal opinion in this year2022 there isn’t much good music I don’t like all this lyrics and sii this reap theat that only talk about sex and cussing ( which is unnecessary ) I Just think when you have a talent And consider yourself a good respectful professional and. Definitely a great example for youngsters??? Why all the cussing and sex words and lyrics??? This is why I love to see youngsters like yourself going back to discover this great music from the 60s and 70s. Keep on listening and discovering what talent was all about . 👍👍🎵🎵👍👍🎵🎵

Diana Ross & The Supremes/Reflections STUDIO VERSION.
Video clips from this era are fun to watch but there were no stereo tv's then and live versions were seldom as good as the stereo studio version. You would be better off picking a lyric video instead. Just saying!
