    Ok, this video was triggered after the whole b-hole incident. I haven't stopped laughing since learning about it. I have tried my best to adopt the German language as my own but sometimes German has a mind of its own. Of course there are "authentic" "real" German curse words but the words I am talking about are more or less slang. There are some German people that use these words and some people that have no idea what they mean.
    Nonetheless this video made me laugh so hard and I hope my misery brings a smile to your face.

      Hayley Alexis Interestingly, the use of "anal" in this way comes from the Freudian psychoanalysis, where the "anal phase" marks the second stage in a child's development. It's the phase in which the parents usually keep teaching the child that all things that come out of it are bad and dirty. Some people develop a fear of all dirty and untidy things during that phase, and these people and their behaviors we often call "anal".

    • @mcdoogle274
      @mcdoogle274 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just see it now, the "anal" of course has nothing to do with the "anal" in the word "psychoanalysis", if anyone suspects this. 😀

      Didn't know "Hupen" but it may come from the desire to press the button in the "Hof" and "honk the horn".

      Yes, usually not in every day language. Maybe you can hear a comedian or someone like that say that.
      Best know example is the German dub of "Life of Brian" where one of them told the others that he wants to be named Loretta and have children. And the other say to him. "You can't have children. You don't have a Mumu"

    Haley, maybe you misunderstood the concept of "Pipi-Mats", "Muschi" or "Mumu"!
    These are cute words and they aren´ t "dirty", at all -> these words are used to name the "dirty parts" not with dirty words, for example to explain little children the difference between man and woman.
    Bye the way, "Pipi" is the "childrenword for urine, and "Mats" is a name originally the shortform/nickname of "Matthias" and means the "little or small Matthias"
    So now you can imagine what "Pipi-Mats" originally means.-> Either "A little boy´s dripping Johnny" or "Micro-Penis" it depends on the context.
    "Muschi" is an often used stereotypical german cat name like "Pussy" in english, and "Mumu" is the shortform of it, some shorten it even to "Mu". You can see the similarities between Muschi and Pussy.
    Anal isn´t a dirty word either, it´s a originally clinical (latin) expression used by medics, but the meaning is obviously clear..
    It was a pleasure to give you a clue.

    mushy means breiig oder weichlich (like a pulp or soft) although I think the word originates maybe from the spongyness of mushrooms. Whereas Muschi German can simply mean a female cat and its furriness, but some also use it with a highly sexual conotation for the outer primary sexual organ of the woman, especially the furry ones. But not in a disrespectful way. There are other words that would be far more disrespectful.

    • @gwahli9620

    Hallo Hayley, hier im Norden gibt man für Kühen für die Kinden den Kosenamen Mumu oder Mukku. Natürlich wenn sie älter sind, dann wissen sie schon den Unterschied ;-). Aber es gibt für Schweine auch den Ausdruck "Fickies", was natürlich sehr unangenehm für uns wurde, als unser Kind auf das wir aufpassten zu einem Opa aufschaute und fragte " Opa, hast du auch Fickies"? Dann versuch mal zu erklären, dass das Kind von einem Bauernhof kommt.

      I'd wonder what you think about Austrian words. E.g. we say Spatzerl (or Spatzal) as a cute baby word for penis. Spatz = sparrow, -erl makes it cute. (Btw. Another end syllable that makes something cute is -chen. So Gretchen is not a name here, it's what you call a small girl named Grete.)
      Other words different in Austria:
      Sahne (whipped creme) = Schlagobers
      Schorle = Spritzer
      Aprikosen (apricots) = Marillen
      Auberginen (egg plants) = Melanzani
      Mais (corn) = Kukuruz (but we also say Mais sometimes)
      Eimer (bucket) = Kübel
      Fahrstuhl (elevator/lift) = Lift/Aufzug
      Kartoffel (potatoes) = Erdäpfel
      Tomaten (tomatoes) = Paradeiser
      Eisbein (ham hock) = Stelze
      etc.
      But they are just different, not funny different.

  • @eowmob
    @eowmob 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice video - I had fun, but most are just typical misunderstandings when using a foreign language.
    Funnily enough most of this misinterpretations depend on context. In wrong or unfitting context
    the words just don't fit anf cause people to giggle or laugh or develop dirty thoughts.
    Muschi was explained below. The word becomes dirty only in the mind of the listening adult. A child uses it for a cat w/o any bad intention. It also developed this second meaning over the last 25 years or so, at least as I'd say.
    Hof is not dirty at all, the longer and more exact Warzenhof ist very formal and won't considered dirty by anyone. I strongly doubt that a German speaker will use it in any 'dirty' context. He'd probably use Nippel and not distinguish the anatomic parts. I often heard Knöpfe (buttons or knobs) or Plättbrett mit Warzen (ironing board with warts) or Radkappen
    (wheel caps) in this context describing different developments of this organ on different women.
    Talkin on pugs. Well, they are (sorry to the animals, they are not responsible for their breeding, one might actually consider them victims) somewhat fat, blown up and saggy creatures with wrinkles and no, or actually very short, hair. One can relate that to certain styles of female human breasts. Again, in a non pug related context it might be meant dirty.
    You also confuse hoove with Huf in German vs. Hof for backyard. All sound very similar and are certainly easily confused for a non native speaker.
    Pipimatz. Well, you should consider Pipi is childs talk for urine (funny, but think of Pee-Pee). There is Piepmatz (Piep as a transliteration for the sound of tweeting) for a tiny bird or Hosenmatz as a nice meant circumscription for a small boy (Hose(n) = trousers - remember ancient times when females wore only skirts or dresses). So Pipimatz is a tiny thing/bird related to urine business. And a common term for the penis of a small/baby boy. It possible becomes 'dirty' when used in a consenting manner of an adult pair... maybe, if they are into it.
    There is nothing dirty on Rosette too. It is just a kind of round(ed) ornament. In certain context it is used as a dirty synonym for sphincter, though. Which, btw, is also some kind of roundish ornamental structure.
    Generally, most of your examples weren't *really* dirty. Only a bit and when used in a specific context.
    I can fully understand they might confuse and cause embarassment to a non-native speaker.
    That makes me actually wonder: In English, is a word either always dirty (regardless of context?) or clean? Is there no ambiguity that an 'ordinary' noun or verb can develop a somewhat dirty 'side'-meaning when intentionally misused, read: not used in its genuine context and function? Like a metapher?
    Ficken (now, that's dirty, my post might get removed) originally meant to sew or just to do (something) - but the non-dirty meaning is completely lost in German. Or Fotze is a slang, yes (today) quite dirty, 'curse' word for mouth in Bavaria (you hear it there sometimes when adults shout at you (or childs) to shut up), but I doubt that the majority of Germans knows about this not really/not that dirty genuine meaning of this noun. [home-work for non native speakers: work out their dirty meanings ;-P shouldn't be too difficult, just consider the genuine meaning and then use some imagination in a sexual context]
    I was really surprised anal could be used as a 'legal' adjective for a very picky person like an Erbsenzähler (pea counter) or Krümelkacker (crumb shitter) in German.

    GREAT! 😂😂😂
    The problem is that lots of the words you described are no dirty words at all in their "normal" use.
    Muschi = a cat so it was used for some sweet other furry thingie too.
    Rosette = rosette same meaning in German and is still used for the type if things you mentioned. But the "dirty" thingie also looks very rosettish *

  • @jebojahoo
    @jebojahoo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rozette??? You have never heard of Rose window? Google it and just conclude the shape :) with kisses :) No, that's dirty, it is actually a BATTEN !! You have a water valve in your bathroom, and you have a Batten around it. This is called "rozeta" in German. Simple.

    "Mob"(yes, germans know this word and use it , too and it has the same meaning in german like in english = "cleaning thing" or "a bunch of people going berserk") and "Mops"(dog-race) are two different words, but sounding the same allthough different writing and meaning..
    (like in english "too/ two" or "hear/here"......)

    "Möpse" for breasts (it's only used in the plural, really) is only very distantly related to pug. It has first been used to refer to chubby persons, relating to roundness.
    Which lends itself well to describing mammaries...

  • @RustyDust101
    @RustyDust101 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I laughed so hard at Hayley's discomfiture with certain words, or how to explain them.
    Most of them could be explained using the scientific terms, which usually desensitizes them enough for most people so there is only the usual Beavis & Butthead snickering at them.
    Hof is also the barnyard, or a farmyard as well. So it is a fairly clearly defined area. That's why 'Höfe' (plural) was used in the term 'Warzenhöfe' as in 'Brustwarzenhöfe' to define the clearly visible area around the nipples, ie the aereola. While English uses the latin term in an Anglicized version German simply uses a German term in German; but still uses the original latin in medical terms.

    Funny enough, "Muschi" has also been a (now somewhat antiquated) word for "cat" - until the "vagina" meaning took over a few decaeds ago. Further fun fact: "Mushi" in Japanese means either "insect" (虫) or "ignorance" (無視), they just don't pronounce the finishing vowel so much, though.

  • @peterkoller3761
    @peterkoller3761 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Piepmatz is actually a jocular word for "bird" and metaphorically a childish term only used in Germany for the one eyed wonder worm, the bald headed yogurt slinger, the master of ceremonies... The way you used the word "anal" in English in your examples here, it is short for "anal retentive", a psychological term going back to good old Siegmund. And no, "anal" in German just means "referring/belonging to the anus". German "Mumu" sounds awfully childish to me (Austrian), I basically only ever heard this term in "Life of Brian", the "Loretta Episode". German "Muschi" is absolutely identical to English "pussy": it means cat, and it means koochie, poonani, bearded clam, vertical smile... "Rosette" in German is also a round ornamental thingy, and if you use it for the butthole, it is just plain metaphorical usage. (BTW, have you heard the term "Rosettentarzan? That´s a hilarious term for a gay guy!)

  • @sevenfifteen

    Actually your description of it is not the main meaning of Rosette. If you've ever been to a church or similar building, you've seen a Rosette. Here's an example: c1.staticflickr.com/5/4070/4638833696_4fd11defe8_b.jpg
    And I would imagine that this form and the fact that it is a window ("a hole in the wall") led to the second meaning that you described.
