The xDrive40 is the better choice between the three iX versions for sustainability and economy. You're not hauling a bigger battery around and you're not paying for it. I love how you can get the air suspension and integral active steering as options. That leaves the difference with xDrive50 only the battery and the higher current to the rear motor, while the price for that upgrade is big.
Should've tried the default 20"inch wheels. The extra range they get you is about 5% or 15km. Also the air suspension lowers the car at highway speeds, for an extra range gain. And some of the climate options (radiant heating and seat ventilation) will save some more energy. Not sure what the sport package (not setting) does to range.
On paper charging speed is in absolute terms slower than xDrive50, but relatively you fill it up in the same time. Curious if that theoretical number is really gating in practice. Can you compare charging speed with the xDrive50?
Any chance you could try Android Auto, also on the heads-up? How about locking with your phone (UWB)? How are the Harman-Kardon speakers?

You should test the iX 60 if you don’t like the crystal finish. They apply a (much nicer) black finish to that model.

I drove the iX40 not long ago (fully charged event) and it became my number 1 car 😍 (ix50 is the desired model). Now just trying to figure out the funds for it 😂

Hi Bjørn, i own a iX40 and want an app to see my charging speed while im away from the car. Do you (or someone else) know if there is any app to see this? I usually charge at iONITY.
People always comment that you just hold down the button on the Supercharger plug handle and it will stop the charge, even if the Tesla is locked.
Does this not work for non-Tesla cars?

The charging failure with the red blinking is interesting. I have exactly the same with our BMW i3. Could it be a communication error? Also that you tested a v2 and that this one works is interesting, does anyone know if the chargers in Verviers (Belgium) are v2?😁

Yes, they are partially v2s. I just heard from someone that he managed to charge his IONIQ5 at Verviers on v2 stales.
To unlock the charge port just open a door by hand.

Tried a V3 supercharger with my Mach-E, didn't work but seems the supercharger was kaputt. Another stall worked, for 0,71€/kWh that's pretty bad. Ionity worked flawlessly with Plug&Charge for 0,31€/kWh. No need to fiddle around with an app.

31 Ct/kWh ist sponsored by Ford for one year. Then you have to pay a monthly fee or regular price of Ionity. With monthly fee you can reduce price at SuC, too.
@@Likr666 correct but plans are far more interesting than Tesla’s when your manufacturer is part of the Ionity consortium.
@@Likr666 That's true, but the Ionity membership with ford should cost around 10€/month and reduces to 31ct/kWh. Tesla membership cost 13€/month and reduces to ~53ct/kWh. Ford seems to have the better deal.
I'm struggling with the exterior design. The front is quite jagged, the side view is contourless and the rear somehow combines both
So how did you release the car when it flashed orange and wouldn't let go? Seems exactly the same as I my i3 despite all those years of development. (For me it seems to give up and finally let go after 2 or 3 minutes. Not really a scientific solution.)

Any reviews will come soon for a budget EVs. We are in uk not as reach. I will be getting MG ZS EV long range in about a month. Wondering if you are planning to review this car as it has lots on interests.
He tested the MG 2 years ago and one in Thailand 4 months ago. i know the car has had a facelift since then which he hasn't tested yet. don't know how much of the battery and tech has changed. but if it hasn't changed much i doubt he will prioritise this car. However i'm not him so idk really

@@TommyBoay thank you Thomas for your message. Is it very noisy on the high way? How about the ride? Some reviews says you can feel all the ramp and path holes, so say its cruise softly over them.
@@simonhad1223 As long as you keep it at 110 km/h max, it remains comfy and silent. Some might find it a bit too jumpy but, coming from a Volvo XC60, I find it good - in line with what one should expect from SUVs in my opinion. Wind noise is also very good up to that speed but a bit on the noisy side beyond. At 110, the car will take around 20kwh/100kms on dry conditions making it possible to get 250-300 kms between charging laps with the 70kwh pack. I made some 500kms trips without anything to complain about : Seats are also doing a fine job and you will feel safe for sure.
The biggest defects on the car : Absence of heat pump making the consumption skyrocket in winter conditions (got up to 30kwh/100 at 110km/h). The drivetrain lacks precision and grip as soon as you go into dynamic / sporty driving. The infotainment system is rubbish - Apple car saves the day but expect some crashes every now and then. The lack of Ionity membership makes the fast charging pricey.
@@TommyBoay Thank you very much for taking a time and give lots of details...I think I should keep my expectation bit low specially with the relatively low was keen more for Kona electric, but it is much pricier. I will update you once I will receive the car and drive it for a while, I will be using it just to travel to work and back (120km a day). for how long you had this car?

They opened up plenty of locations in Europe a few months ago, more are opening all the time
Selected SuCs have eben opened in norway, france and netherlands months ago. The number of opened stalls has increased a lot since that.
Easiest is to install the app, create a profile in a country offering the service to non Tesla and use the integrated map if you want to give it a go.

Can a BMW iX xDrive40 go for 150 miles without recharging? Yes, and still have 15% charge left. That's about 376 wh/mile. Color me Underwhelmed.
