Yes, 60s & 70s soul,jazz, funk was incredible. Those were some seriously talented musicians. People keep sampling their grooves because no one can top them. Check out Crusaders 2 from 1973 if you like this stuff.

in the paramaters screen set the pad to mono so it will trigger the sample without it overlapping when you press it again. if you set it to note off you have to hold the pad to trigger the sound. poly triggers the pad, but overlaps.

@saxshing thanks homie. it's a beat a made a long time ago called "U.N.I.T.Why" inspired by the Queen Latifah joint.
@cap0n3 i don't have a live kit. i sample drums mostly from different records. a lot of times at the beginning there's some open drums like a drum fill or a drum solo. that's where i get a lot of the open hihats. whether it's an original soul, funk or jazz record or a drum break record. it doesn't matter. there's different drum libraries too, but i don't really like to use those cuz i like to chop my own drum sounds the way i like them to sound. a lot of those libraries have wack sounds.

hey disko dave im a fan of your vids amazing work,i had a question when you chop your samples does it have to make sense music theory wise, like for example when pianists play they stick to progressions, in hip hop does any of that matter, lol sorry if im confusing im just starting to understand hip hop and it looks so complicated
a little somethin' here and there, but i do it for the LOVE first and foremost. money will come later. then i'll make a video of me "makin' it rain" on y'all. LOL
