I love my old cast iron Kohlers and Briggs. Just picked up a 1977 Wards Generator with a 9 hp cast iron Briggs for $50. Low hours on the engine. Runs like a champ and has a beautiful sound.

Years ago I worked at Kohler Co. In the EEP building 8hp. cast iron engines, I have one to this day on a old Kohler generator. Great engines back then👍🏻

Cute, that's like the comment that inspires no engines to get up and running! It's a solid engine for 2023! Any engine is good! Neat though :)

I used this engine to replace a tired 50 year-old B&S 3hp engine on a Sensation mini-bike. I had previously put a 72 tooth rear sprocket on the bike to haul adults around. It helped but it was no substitute for more horsepower. This engine has a ton of torque and it hauls people around pretty well. There are no throttle parts available from Kohler to adapt it to cable operation suitable for gokarts or minibikes. So, the difference between idle and full throttle is less than a quarter turn of the twist grip. You may have to do a bit of fabrication to get more travel. No biggy. It has enough grunt to wheelie the minibike from a dead stop and dump the rider if you drag your toes and lean back. Don't do that. It hurts.

I bought a Simpson power washer that came with this engine. The rope is so hard to pull but it runs great and starts no problem. Is it possible the compression release is not working?

If I'd kept the old splitter I'd have bought that Kohler off of you but the 13 horse Predator is a 2 pull runner My Kohlers are the 301's and smooth is the word. I like the flat heads and the one Kawasaki is an old 6.5 on a Snapper and a keeper. Thanks, GOOD Looking guitar and keep picking! GBWYall!

I hear ya! Can't beat the predators, great engines! I like the flatheads too, I'd like to come across a kawasaki flathead just something different to have. Thanks for Watching!!!

@@fnaguitarplayer9 My Kawasaki is overhead valve and the one I had on the Ex-Mark was too but NEVER gave a moments trouble. The one on the Snapper has had maybe an air filter and a new crank rope but just oil changes and run. It doesn't like alcohol though and will vapor-lock when the weather gets in the 90's which ain't often. It was 2nd hand when I got it and the mower it was on was worn OIUT. Probably 10 years old or better. They just run! GBWYall!
