    Good stuff. Never run the oven empty or warm it up prior to adding food!

    I’ve made a number of “Jimmy-rigged” sun ovens, and it’s always a trial and error process, but I’ve never gotten one over 375•! That’s very impressive! The only thing I don’t care for about that design is that you can’t put a casserole dish or a Dutch oven into that kind of solar oven.

      Instead you just put it straight in the tube. I think that’s why it works so well, less mass more spread out

      @@HomesteadinHawaii could you bake bread in it? Muffins? Or maybe just baguettes? 🤔 I also like using mine for veg stew, chili, and other things that I used to use a crockpot for. I don’t know if those things would work with that deign, but I’m curious!

      @@TheQueenOfDreams we just fill up the tube, so like you said, baguettes, long brownies or cakes shaped like snakes, etc, stew and chilli would cook really well!

      I lived many years off the grid in a home-made straw bale in AZ. In Costa Rica now, which is great, but on the grid, so there was some adapting.
      Looking to sell our CR place and move onto our 3 acre land in Kula Kai, go backoff the grid. So much simpler.
      @mybluedoor if you want to see our Costa Rica project.
      Peace, brother

    Why would you go from living offgrid to moving onto the grid?

    • @HomesteadinHawaii
      @HomesteadinHawaii  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      My goal is to go off grid again, but I didn't like driving anymore was the main thing. I can ride my bike to the beach now, I have more land, better neighborhood, I just need to get the water catchment going again, solar power and my garden. My off grid place pays for this place so it was hard to pass up
