Going through a very rough separation with my wife and this was always secretly "her song" to me. Learning to play it is really therapeutic. Thank you so much for the lesson.
You have a very calm and clear way of explaining what to do on the guitar wich makes this one of the best tutorials I've ever encountered. I also really like the way you play the song, it comes across exactly like it should . Thx for the effort mate, nicely done !
Thanks for the comment J, I'm glad to hear the tutorial was helpful. My playing isn't the best in the world but I try my best to explain things properly & help others understand what's going on. It's good to know I'm doing a good job! Thanks again for stopping by (,")
Glad it was helpful. Once you start playing songs that use a lot of jazz chords you will become more familiar with the names. Check out my Corinne Bailey Rae playlist for more of her songs (,")
My daughter asked me to learn this yesterday so that she could sing it with me. Never heard it before but what a song and what chords. IMHO they could be what the guitar was made for and I am looking forward to learning it. Brilliant and easy to follow tutorial and I have subscribed so will be speaking again in the future. Many thanks for sharing your obvious talent
Definitely a great song choice by your daughter! 👌 ....The chords are certainly unique and extremely rewarding when played on acoustic guitar. Thanks for the comment & the sub 🙏
Thank you sooo much for making these tutorials. Seriously, learning how to play these songs has brought me much needed inspiration and accomplished feelings. Also, you have a lovely voice. :)
Really great tutorial, helped immensely. I like the angle you have the camera on the fretboard too, it's exactly what I need for a quick learn. Thanks.
Thanks for the positive feedback Janelle. It's good to know my efforts are appreciated, and are helping people develop. The charts are a big part of my teaching style so glad to hear you're benefiting from them too! (,")
No worries TR! I wasn't gonna do this one at first as there are a few tutorials already out for it, but I decided it was a necessary addition to my CBR playlist, and I also thought I could do a more comprehensive lesson then the others on YT. Glad to hear you enjoyed learning it (,")
Thank you so much for these great tutorials I this the second song I've learn play only on my first year. I'm a visual learner n you make it seamless. Speaking for myself.lol first one was sparks Coldplay. Keep up the great work man!! God bless🙏
Yo, funny you should say that... I'm gonna get back into making tutorial videos real soon, and I also plan to do some covers. I had a meeting today with a couple of singers who I used to work with back in the day, and they've agreed to jump on board as well. Thank you for the compliment btw, I'm not the greatest singer, but I try n work with the gifts I've been given. Blessins
@@DefinitelyDean you are very talented! I've watched many of your tutorials and I'll be here to watch your new stuff. Wish you the best and all the success! Cheers
Saharrah Agas Glad to hear it was helpful. I remember years ago when I first tried to learn this song there weren't very many tutorials available, so it's great to know I'm helping others learn a classic.
+David Sucarrat Vheers man. I saw her perform this live on Thursday. She did a gig at the Tabernacle after a 6 year break. Needles to say the performance was on point!
Could you please do some guitar tutorials on her song "Call me when you get this"? I really want to learn it one of my favorite songs of Corinne. Thanks!
Good tutorial! Thank you :) I watched all your tutorials related with amy, they were really good but i couldn't believe there wasn't 'love is losing game'! We know, that's a really good song. If you have enough time to make a tutorial, please make tutorial of 'love is losing game'! Have a good day! :) bye!
It's on my list Izzy, just need to find the time to work it out & record a tutorial. Hopefully one day I'll get it done. Thanks for watching & commenting (,")
With guitar we have less fingering options that piano so you find notes often get left out from chords. Usually its the 5th, then root that get stripped to make room for the notes that ad flavour like the 7 & 9. When the root is missing it's like an implied bass, listeners will assume the bass note in reference to the key.
+FundamentalGuitar whoah.. learn something new everyday. I thought it would be much easier to just call it an fmaj7 with C in the bass haha but I understand what you mean.
Glad it was helpful. The video is already quite long so not a lot of time to add a play-through. I do give all the info you need to play the whole song though, you just need to put the sections together (,")
just to clarify the chord you put listed as an fmaj7 in the description (as you described it) is an Am/F.... an Fmaj7 in first position is just like an F major but lift your index off of the high e string and let the e ring open.. that's the Fmaj7... hope that helps.. this lesson really helped me so I though Id help back.. you either just labeled that chord wrong or described its fingering wrong. Fmaj7 should be xx3210 not 1x2210
Thanks for the feedback - I definitely wrote it wrong. As you said it should be xx3210 (in its simplest 4 note form), or 133210 using the thumb to play the lower bass note. Appreciate the help!
Hey man - I’ve wanted to do a lesson for that song for ages, as well as put your records on. I’ve just been so busy so never got around to it. I may one day get around to doing them though as I do want to revisit her stuff when I get more time. Glad you found this one helpful 😉✌️
my guitar is in tune but I can't figure out where to put my fingers for the Dm7 like I don't know exactly what fret or even strings to put my fingers and it's like my biggest obstacle rn lmao
There isn't a picking pattern as such, but the comping is explained in the video. I encourage you to use your ear and do what comes naturally rather than try to figure out the rhythm mathematically.
Chords: Dm7 - x57565 E7b9 - x7676x Am7 - 5x555x Am6 - 5x455x can anyone explain to me how do i "read" these chords? how do i play them, what is the principle???
From left to right are the guitar strings. The numbers are what fret to play for that string, and x means don't play. For example; an Em chords can be written 022000 The tabs are normally written vertically to match the musical stave, but it's quite long winded writing them out like that, so you'll normally find them like this. Hope this makes sense (,")
To be honest John & I'm super busy with lessons these days so doubt that I'll be able help you out here. I have a very long list of requests atm so have to go with the ones I'm more familiar with and the songs that get asked for the most.
Chords are great but this strumming pattern, I wish you could break that down a bit more for beginners. The whole fingering, muting thing. Beautiful rendition.
Bar chords take time to develop so it's normal that they don't sound good at first. Keep working on them and your hand will get stronger, but make sure you're using proper technique! (,")

The sound of the guitar is amazing! Also your singing!
one of the best interpretation of this absolutely not easy to play (neither to sing) song on youtube, thank you.
