    "Do what feels natural" Thank you. I just started and picked up an electric guitar. And so far I am kind of lost, and overwhelmed. Really don't know where to start. But I do know I want to play R&B/soul/jazz and fingerstyle. Using my fingers just feels natural.
    Hearing you say that will definently help me just relax

      do things properly man and invest in guitar classes like Guitar Tricks or some other ones. It s really important to progress step by step not to pick up bad habits. Some friends and myself started to play guitar 1 year ago , they wanted to learn by themselves (with other people who already played) and I decided to sign up with Guitar Tricks. My level of understanding of the music (theory) is years away from them and the songs I can play are a lot more technical and complex than what they can do. Guitar classes teaches you TECHNIQUE and tricks to improve and force you to master chords change / progression

    • @mustbescud
      @mustbescud 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matr4724 Thank you Mat. So did you know some music theory going into the Guitar tricks class? I'll definitely consider looking for a class that offers that then. I'm get lost and feel overwhelmed at times lol. I am learning a song though, through TABS lol

    • @matr4724
      @matr4724 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mustbescud When I started I never touched a guitar of my life, my gf gave one to me for my birthday. Then after a few days looking online, seeing friends playing where you basically just try to imitate them, I knew it would take ages so I decided to sign up for online classes. It s important to know the theroy, music is very complex, the guitar is a complex instrument too. It s great to go through this learning journey, Guitar Tricks is great, it starts slow with fundamentals 1 and 2, it goes through everything. It s a bit old school I d say (the format) but check out the online classes out there and see which one you like best and stick to it. You ll progress extremely fast, do 1h a day of class and on the side you can try to learn some easy songs. But stick to the classes for a constant progression

    • @matr4724
      @matr4724 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you go through the fundamentals, you can specialise and get in depth with the style of music you are interested in, then you ll discover other techniques, chords, licks etc....

    I really appreciate this video. Helped me see some things I hadn't perceived before. The Dm7 and Em7 being the minor 2 and minor 3 chords if you're using the number system become the 4 and 5 chords if you add a pinky on the 5th string (giving each chord a "C" shape). My mind's a little blown in that I've never pictured things this way. Keep doin' whatcha do!!

Thank you for taking the time to show this old man something new and groovy. You are Awesome 🤩
