Episode 013: Completing the Base

- This week we are about to close out our build series. In this video we are going to trim our final foam pieces, glue it all down to the baseboard, and identify the location of the river and waterfall feature on the layout. And finally we get to apply a base color to all of that pink foam. So follow along as we take the next giant leap in the build.

Thanks Derek. This has turned into a great Father Daughter project. Roxanne has always worked with me whether on cars or remodeling projects since she was a little girl. She is pretty handy with tools and not afraid to get her hands dirty. We just but new brakes all around on her Yukon a couple of weeks ago. I remember her doing that kind of stuff on her boyfriends car in high school. She is quite the gal!

Ha-ha. The joy. Glad to move on with the project. Getting really excited for the next phase. I think this color will go well with my vision of the color pallet I am picturing for the layout. Nice, I like the look of an empty layout to spread your dreams on! But I also can’t wait to see some track & trains, but don’t rush it. In the past I often went too fast forward from this stage…
Good advice. I have purposely taken my time on this layout. I am not an expert in the hobby and everything is pretty new to me. I am sure mistakes will be made, but I think I can mitigate most of them if I research every step and taking my time thinking things through before moving forward. Hopefully the mistakes I do make are not too costly. Thanks for your great support and comments.

Thanks for the encouraging comment. Its seems a long haul to this point for us. But hoping the track work goes a little faster. Looking forward to running some trains!
