American Indians were injured for trying to pray.
The media is slow. There is destruction at a native american burial site, over 3000 years old. From a housing developer to now a boat ramp. We were there to pray, and an angry mob of people attacked women, children, and elders and pulled out a loaded gun waving it around. We are demanding justice not just for the deputy but his wife, the gunman, and the mob. We are demanding that the Carteret County County Commissoners make a public apology and host a hate crimes forum and education session about American Indians. We are demanding that the Cedar Point Developers reach out to 7 Directions of Service, we are asking for a meeting with the County Commissoners.

As a human being and a white man, I have to say I would and will gladly stand with the Native American/ Indigenous people over bullies anyday. Now as a son and a father you dont ever and I mean ever put your hands on a lady. Regardless of age or color, you just dont do it. I would like to apologize for the ignorance of a few people that felt the need to bully, harass and assault these people while they were performing a religious meeting. Innocent people not harming anybody.

It's sad to see. But this is why, when I was there and actively was trying to help you all, I asked lots of questions. Especially before and after, I went to a gathering circle near Raleigh with some of the people in that circle. Two questions: what are you doing about security, and what is your plan to protect each other at these events (tactical and deescalation measures)? I even left information and security supplies with some folk. As this shifting is happening, it might be important to plan for that with your circles.
The legal reference that could be used in this is UNDRIP Art. 24 & 25. Short summary: it allows indigenous peoples access to areas that contain their traditional medicine or are considered sacred.
