Every region in Uganda suffers some form of negative stereo types. However more than any other, Busoga region has unfairly seen a lot more of this negativity.
A closer look into this region shows her people are dynamic, creative and hardworking. But why do some people in Uganda think otherwise?
In the first part of the Busoga story NTV's Patrick Kamara takes these stereotypes head on.

Thanks NTV for this, its my appeal to my fellow BASOGA, lets arise and save our selves. It really pains to see the poverty in Busoga at such a level and the impression people have about us. We need to do something to redeem ourselves and restore the former glory of BUSOGA. We have the potential of economic development; our leaders please come out and stand up for the region. Lets work together for a better Busoga, lets lay aside and work together.

Basoga are among the most hospitable people in Uganda. Very generous, welcoming, kind. And above all, very well mannered and cultured people. The men who married Basoga women are happily married. Very respectful people!

All we need is absolute and unconditional unity. Next we should humbly listen to one another, respect ourselves and respect others too. Truly, Basoga are hardworking and very intelligent people, many other people know it but as usual they always want to make us a laughing stalk and down play our ambitions in one way or the other. Now is the time to leave all our differences behind, stop complaining or blaming Jack and Jill. Different political ideologies or religious affiliations will tear us more. Let us start self sustaining projects in areas of food production through fish farming, animal husbandry, poultry and Bio energy production. I'm ready to teach those willing to start off.

How are the people of Busoga insulted? What is the popular opinion on them?

The problem is that the basoga don't speak their language, they instead speak Luganda everywhere they go, and not rusoga language

The only way to come out of the "insulting" situation is to stop voting for Museveni.
