    Nice video Michael. "Fanny Pack" kills me every time!😂 Good advice there. As much as I know I should do it, I'm certainly guilty of not practicing enough with my full pocket set up in my standard outfit, so everything is second nature.
    What about very warm weather? Do you ever lose the jacket? And how does that affect your routines. Guessing you never lose the hat

      haha Neil! Great to hear from you mate. Yes I do take off the coat, in which case I wear a vest, open, no tie. Less pocket space but it just means I modify my carry a bit.
      As for the hat, it is actually my horcrux so I need it with me at all times haha

    I used to fill up both my front pants pockets with Tons of magic and maybe even my jacket. Often times I didnt perform one Single effect because the moment was not the right one.
    Nowadays I take a deck of cards, A coin gimmik, sharpie and a wallet with business cards and packet trick with me. Sometimes not even the deck, still i can perform more than 5 tricks and that really is enough, especially in a casual Situation with friends.
    Maybe you can make a Video about the right amount of Tricks to perform for one Group. So That you dont overload them with magic and how to behave if they want to See more even when you showed them 3-4 effects. Cheers

    Can we get a video on how to Routine a set. Or how to transition into another trick?

    I have a question closely related to this subject, how many tricks should a professional magician know, also I'm not a huge fan of card tricks but I love money magic and a variety of other effects, does card magic have to be a part of a professional magicians repertoire?

    • @OBrienMagic
      @OBrienMagic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great questions! So I’ll speak only from my own personal experience as I know there are tons of opinions on this but lets jump in!
      So how many tricks should you know? I think you should focus on a select set of specific effects you plan to routine together into a show and master those. A strolling magician will only ever meed to master 5 effects and will have a lifetime worth if magic! It isnt about how many tricks you can learn but more about mastering the ones you do know already.
      As for whether or not you have to perform with cards, that is 100% up to you! Some magicians hate card magic and never even touch a deck of cards. Some magicians exclusively work with cards and nothing else. Some prefer to change it up and not only do cards but toss in some other stuff too. Its 100% up to you! There is no wrong answer. As long as you and your audiences are enjoying themselves then you are grand!

    There is a dearth of these kinds of magic videos, which tend to concentrate of tricks and not the practical aspects of performing. BTW I purchased your book "How to Magesh" Yes I know it was free as a down load but I am an old fashioned magician. I like printed things and the book was a nice addition to my library not that I am ever going to g professional, That ship left dock long ago, but I live vicariously through those who have made the move. - Frank Tougas
