L=long, T=time, J=junglist. (Just in case you forgot or didn't know) Ive followed and listened to this unique DnB for about 25+ years. I believe it's helped a lot of us through some darkness. May you stand as the king of DnB. Peace out to conrad too. Much love to all of my beautiful brothers and sisters out there. Stay strong, stay focused and determined 👊💜👊
I miss the style of early Progressoin Sessions and Logical Progression, the world has shifted into liquid, the progressive space and ambient atmosphere is mostly gone for more repetitive string stabs and synths. Omni Music still catches that vibe sometimes and recently Spatial Records has been pushing that older vibe real hard, wish Bukem went back to that and did less liquid.
No way it could have been long time junglist when he had that name pre-92 He used to start his sets with a police speech saying “book em Danno” and was often referred to as Lt James
... the bloke who sold the Yaman tapes, right. Getting a train and a tube just in the hope he'd be there. And even then, hope he had fresh tapes or they'd not sold out. Also, you had Mad Ragga Jon's record stall. Mental, but why was it always bloody raining! Every fkn time!! I honestly think those Yaman sets are among his best stuff full stop.
What a set. Britain really does produce some talent. Huge shout from the US. Loving LTJ Bukem and also other various UK electronica based acts like Faithless, The Prodigy, UNKLE, Aphex Twin, Leftfield, Burial, Underworld, Orbital, Goldie, FSOL, Chemical Brothers, Squarepusher, Stereo Mcs, Massive Attack, The Streets, The Bug, ALLFLAWS
Although all amazing, what you miss is that this is just the tip of a hydra-like iceberg....UK has provided the soundtrack to world culture for decades.
Well you've hit the big ones, now for some obscure stuff.... Haha, just winding you up. You just reeled off the playlist of my youth. Always a nice surprise to see Americans getting into the English Electronica scene (bonus points for not calling it edm). *Your homework for the week is Bailey, Sprongle and Portishead.
When i lived with my dad years ago .. im 50 now.. the road he lived on was called buchan Street in Cambridge.. i always got the black marker pen out and put LTJ on the sign.. happy raving days..
I met him about a decade ago in Wellington at the best sounding club in the city. I got to thank him for making Earth, which was the first electronic music album I ever bought and was what got me dance music. Masterful selector.
HELL YEAH!! OMG!!! YES LTJ you've helped me in so many ways of my life ever since I 1st heard & saw you here in Indiana Pennsylvania back in the late 90s you'll always be the best number 1 in my eyes I just wanna thank you & conrad, BIG UP MAD LOVE NUFF RESPECT TO YOU & CONRAD from Pennsylvania USA PLEASE DONT EVER STOP
Come on lets get a set list and get these producers back in the mix bro there's a resurgence in D&B appreciation especially the technical shit Good Lookin' a decade ahead of its time!!
YESSS, a "new" set from my alltime fav d'n'b Master ! Long time since I've heard something from Bukem, so this is such an amazing treat ! Thanks a lot for sharing this beauty ! 🥰😊
I miss that time around 1998-2001 when everything on Good Looking was spatious, super atmospheric, more sci-fi, universe exploration themed, more interesting organic breakbeats were used and you could drift in the sounds a bit more cause the melodies were more intertwined and multilayered, they weren't constantly fighting for your attention with repeated chords and synth stabs. ASC and Aural Imbalance have been working hard the last couple years to revive that feeling with Spatial Records and as much as I like and respect LTJ Bukem, I wish he played LESS liquid and pop/2step.
good observation there my friend... seems like the days of 9 min seba, greg packer et al builder tunes have been replaced with 3 min sample laden expanding foam tunes... but i am still in. 🎉
not that Danny will ever read this.. but.. first time I heard LTJ was in Newquay, maybe '93'? The crowd were expecting 'rave' and Danny and Conrad set a new precedent. Me and my mate knew what was coming (think Atlantis vs expectantt SL2 peeps) set a new wave of vibe that night. seen live in Bristol maybe 10 years ago? still so fresh. Never stopped listening to LTJ since (51yr old. in Spain, on my terrace, listening to this now).. still so the bloody money!!
@@stuarttoomey703 big love in 93 for me last set 7-8 am and it was nothing I'd ever heard finished with 19.5 and the simply mid blowing "music" with Conrad's mic soaked in echo all over it , with that I was hooked
I found you on a listening station of Virgin Records on the 16th St mall in Denver in 1999. It’s 25y later and you are as elite today as you always have been. Thank you Danny!
Who used to go to Bliss in Bushey 1990 as a teenager? First time I heard him play. If you were there you are indeed a real junglist ( before jungle was Jungle)❤
been listening to ltj since the beginning the eclipse edge milwaukees progression sessions at cream the end glasto and a few months ago in margate twice ! used to by his mixtapes from yaman in carnaby street amazing dj and producer thank you for the music ❤️🎶
Horizons was my introduction to Jungle thanks to a compilation CD ("The Chillout Album") in the late '90s. I've loved Bukem's material ever since and it's fantastic that he's still smashing it after all these years; retaining that timeless quality while also pushing forward. Love the smooth, ambient rollers but it's great to see a bit of techstep's crept into this mix too :D Long live GLR!
My first serious intro to liquid D&B was a Logical Progression CD mixed by Bukem. Heard MANY DJs over the decades since then. LTJ still remains as the benchmark.
when i've got my first 2 Technics SL-1210MK2 over here back in 1995 - celebrating my 30th birthday -i've started collection all of the LTJ Bukem Vinyl-releases plus all 12" Good Looking Records for man years..amazing stuff. Still love it....Back in that time i was living in Ingolstadt (Home of the AUDI cars), getting connected to a big fanbase playing "spacious" Drum N Bass like LTD Bukem....great time !

P.S. hope you're still flippin the venal and keeping that alive.
🫡since tha 90's, BIG UP!
I lent him my 24 channel studio mixer once when he was at Cambridge
❤
I did not know, and my life is enriched by knowing. Thanks
Bukem has always sounded like the future, and remains as crisp and fresh as the early Progression Sessions. Simply timeless.

Used to buy LTJ's mixtapes from a very sharp dressed dude outside Camden Town tube in early 90's.

@@paulwheats Interesting I didn't think LTJ stood for long time J either...
It was the good time "searching the mix tape" in Camden the Sundays
My travelling friends got them from him as well and brought them back to Bay Area in the states...mindblowing stuff in the early 90s
