I love this song, this is de true definition of sad, black, and post rock in just one piece. 10 minutes of chaos, depression and blackness in your soul.
And hopefulness. The ending of the song is so uplifting to me.

The more and more I listen to Deafheaven, the more I cringe every time someone calls them a "black metal" band. I now understand what all those metalhead elitists have been complaining about all this time. While they may have black metal influences to their style, they have truly taken on their own form and sound, especially with "New Bermuda." At its core, "New Bermuda" has more of a death metal feel than black, coupled with atmospheric rock melodies to even out the balance between dark and beautiful. I saw Deafheaven live in San Diego a little over a year ago with Tribulation, and their live show is even better than I ever could have imagined it would be. My only advice to listeners everywhere is to ease off on the whole "blvck metvl" thing that every hype kid has been holding on to since "Sunbather" was released. That term slams an unnecessary label down on a band that is truly unique in its own way and lumps them into the same category as other bands who, dare I say, deserve that kind of attention.
They're a Post-Black Metal band. Like Alcest, Lantlos, Amesoeurs, Numenorean and so on. A mix pof Black Metal with Post-Rock and Shoegaze.

I think the problem is that people like to label everything but there's not enough simple labels so they've started to say smthg with influence of smthg or post-smthg progressive-smthg...Maybe it is time to move on and instead of giving a band any labels just tag their albums or even every song.That will be more accurate & will provide reliable information.
