The main thing, I took from your advice, is that we need to extend the trip to two weeks and go for three or four destinations. If you can extend, I definitely would! If not, you could do a day trip to Nara from Kyoto and another day trip to Osaka - though you have to spend the evening there too as it looks best at night! Enjoy your trip 😃
Can you just booked a reserve seat right when you get there at the station? Can you do it at the ticket machine or you need to go inside and talk to a person?
Yes you can book a reserved seat in advance, either at the ticket machine or a person. We found the foreign tourist desk to be the easiest and fastest option!
