Excellent video, that was a great idea using an engine crane to stand up the gantry crane. Thank you for the video.

More like a gantry crane assembly video.

Great video, I used your method, as I had no help, but put the wheels on last due to a 9' ceiling in my shop. It stood up nice and easy with no butt pucker.

Looking at one of these and wondered how they stood them up, thanks

dashaB0553 I use it all the time and it's doing great. Not sure how I made it without the ability to lift heavy stuff. Wish it was wider, but otherwise it's great.

Really love your shop set up, we call them sheds here in AUS and would kill to have half the space you have there, love to see a video of it, doesn't appear to be that old, cheers

I want to build one of these from scratch with my everlast welder. Just need a bit more steel and I'm off.

    a) not a build, but an assembly
    b) whoever designed this crane was not an engineer - huge uprights and a wimpy crossbeam, the crossmember for the wheels is wider than high, the connection to the crossbeam has flanges on both sides, the flanges are square instead of triangular, bolts are same size on inner and outer ends, the A-support of the crossmember is flattened tubing that can take zero sideload, thus in torsion they can collapse (not a problem on a fixed crane but a huge one if it is on coasters) so all of the torsional load is taken up by the weld, ... with the same amount of material you can make a gantry that carries twice the load. What a POS!!

It would be helpful if you explained which bolts you are using where. This set has like 4 different sized and the booklet doesn't tell you which to use where. Total guessing game here

At 2.20 you lifted that side beams onto those workhorses. How did you manage that? di the main beam flex if you lifted one side at a time?
I'm about to do that shortly and think I would need someone on each side to lift those sides.

I did lift one side on the sawhorses at a time. The beam does flex enough that I was able to do it no problem.

High guys when you make a jib crane for home just add a smaller rear jib to hang some load so you can lift more load on front. Thanks

You should replace those side support rails with something a little more robust

Informative enough for me to now know this is not the gantry for me.

That shit looked sketchy as fuck the way he got it up on the wheels. I fully assembled both leg's then strapped one to a tree at an angle then bolted one side of the I beam then strapped it fully up right then had a friend help hold the other leg up right until I got the other 4 I beam bolts in.

Oh. So I need to buy a engine hoist first 🤪🤪

  • @liamdonaldson6449
    @liamdonaldson6449 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Its would be better to assemble the legs and sides then stand those up and add the top beam last (using a ladder).

your description is a liar you did not build a gantry at all you only assembled a purchased gantry.
