The worst thing someone said to me was just mistaking my character. I was cosplaying Chat Noir at a convention and some guy said he liked my cat woman cosplay. Edit: I also had some random teenage girl come up to me and hug me for an uncomfortable amount of time without my consent when I was cosplaying Deku, and then she just ran off.
I hate when ppl TOUCH because of a cosplay....also...how do you Mistake Chat Noir for cat woman ?!?! yes both are cat themed characters but Chat has a different look, personality, fighting style and weapon from her.....this is coming from a fan of both Batman and Miraculous

I know the last question is *REALLY* highly inappropriate but it doesn't take me by surprise that that's a thing people speculate about. They may assume that cosplay is also a kink for some. And they may well be right. Still, that's none of their business.
Don't say "You wear glasses/braces and your character doesn't wear that, you can't cosplay that character." or "That character is so unpopular and old, its useless to cosplay that character."
I don't like people telling you that you cannot cosplay that person because you are... A girl\boy, too fat or thin, too tall or short, too pail\dark... BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE!!!!

@@KirileeCosplay it was really helpful when I will get to my next comic con, but the first time I go there, I was really kind with the cosplayers, I remember I take photos with Joker, Jack Frost from the 5 legends, Spiderman and Laughing Jack (a creepypasta), I with everyone ask kindly if they can take a photo with me and they all agreed 😻
I have had experience with many of these and lets just say I dont like it.......at all. I just tell them “my cosplay, my rules” or “uhhh....no thanks” or “please walk away and never talk to me again. Just get out of my face please. I cant handle this insult.” Im a bit of a dramatic person but I am very proud of my cosplays even though they could look better. If you comment on someone’s cosplay, just compliment them even though they aren’t wearing circle lenses, they arent the right figure, etc. I feel amazing when I cosplay and Im a dude in a wig and a maternity binder to give you the illusion Im a woman. I don’t discriminate but if you comment on something that is negative about my work, please expect I will never talk to you again in a billion years. Love your video Kirilee!! Its so cool!

Unfortunately These are spot on. I have one for the group: a full explanation of exactly what I did wrong for Princess Zelda when I wasn’t even cosplaying Zelda. I was a different character all together.
Princess Efinluka from Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden. I’m not surprised she didn’t recognize the character because she’s kind of obscure. You’d think the girl would have at least realized with that many differences it wasn’t Zelda.
Also don't forget something like "You're not supposed to cosplay as a girl when you're a dude! (And vice versa)" I get that a lot because I only cosplay as female characters.
#4 is very frustrating as a cosplayer who wears big heavy animatronic suits. I can’t tell you enough how many people do this, and I don’t like to say no to people 😆 I also have a con this Saturday lol!
I'll be honest. I buy my cosplays or piece them together. I've been lucky and have never had anything said to me that was too cringe worthy. The closest would probably be when asked if I made it and the response to it being bought was "Oh...well it's still good." Or something to that effect. Loved the video.
Lol one time I was cosplaying a character from one of my favorite tv series and I just made the really cool animatronic wings (they could open and close and we’re covered in feathers, anyway I worked hard on them) the wings are controlled by a button, and some random person comes up to me, just like “pfftt... that’s not real it’s just controlled by a button in your pocket” like srly dude c’mon, I’ve seen the same happen to lots of other cosplayers or just ppl dressing up.
I just hate it when people say "you like doing that? save it for Halloween!" well then I guess you people say that can save getting fancy for important things like weddings and family outings!

I don't expect people to know who I am. Although that makes the rare instances of recognition even better. The attitude is not needed! I am actually contemplating retiring one of my cosplays -or a few- because of it. "Put on a costume and have fun" doesn't always go that far.)
These are SPOT ON. While cons are definitely one of the most fun places to be, it’s also a place some people feel like it’s some kind of free for all and can do/say/act however they want with zero repercussions. Just cause we’re in cosplay doesn’t mean we’ve checked out of earth and reality. Common courtesy and respect are still needed people!!!

most of the things they told me, is that I have very nice cosplays, but that I'm not the one who should wear them as I don't have the right body shape for them.
first time (and only so far) i cosplayed at a convention was as misa amane from death note. she's canonically 5'0 and in my shoes for her I was at least 6'0. luckily didn't get anyone saying that I was too tall for her though
I actually did spent $600 on a screen accurate Star Wars imperial Navy Officer Cosplay. It was worth it. The boots are custom made to my size and costed me $320.00 .
@@KirileeCosplay mind you...I spent half or even most of my graduation gift money. It was worth it I’m saving up for a screen accurate blaster and holster ( with belt accessories) because why not. I committed to Imperial Officer Commander Sanchez plus I can always buy knew rank bars and a few new imperial uniforms to maximize the cosplay.
I went to my first convention yesterday for the first time, and I saw so many cool cosplayers! I was sadly too nervous to say how amazing they were but I did manage to say one to an Lucifer one (from Hazbin Hotel) it was a quick "I love your costume." They said "thank you!" Happily then I kinda just sped walk away 😅 Edit: just finished watching the video and honestly, this is all common sense stuff of what not to say/do and I now feel bad for people that have moments like these
what about a high five? still tactile in a fun way but not too invasive although my guess is that each may respond differently… for kicks and giggles i once played a little high five game with two furry cosplayers - very fun
I was legit in my apartment building taking my bins down and this guy in the lift was like, "I know you, youre [blank] I have a HUGE fan boy crush on you" erm. I legged it out the lift as soon as I could but now he knows what floor I live on omg im gonna get murdered.

sometimes there can be faux pas to, like something you were meant to say as a joke, but the cosplayer took it the wrong way. or when they give you the cold shoulder. feels bad
As someone who who buys their cosplays and cannot wear lenses due to astigmatism (my eyes are slightly misshapen rather than being sphere shaped so wearing them can cause damage to my eyes) I FELT this. I once told someone I bought my cosplay and they just looked at me funny and said ‘Oh, so you cheated?’ Ummm no….I just really like this character and wanted to dress up as them for fun. Isn’t that the point of cosplay? To have fun dressing up as a character you like? Anyway I’m cosplaying Link from Tears of the Kingdom at a con next month and I have dark brown eyes compared to his bright blue eyes so I can’t wait for someone to point that out me…. 😅
I once had someone point out that Sakura card captor had green eyes so I should have been wearing contact lenses to reflect that. I was wearing a different cosplay later in the day for prejudging so I had those contacts in… I told them that Sakura was a quick cosplay and not my main cosplay for the day. The cosplay I wore later on was my Red Riding hood which I won best in show at anime Los Angeles at the start of this year… and it was the same convention as this interaction :) Yes, Cosplay what makes you happy
I'm planning to cosplay but I don't post it online cuz I don't feel comfortable and my mom thinks I shouldn't do it either but I do it for fun even if I don't get the character exactly the same I still have fun (even if ur an adult still remember no ones opinion matters unless u want it to matter)

"Why are you wearing that?" Says a person as the person is poking my boobs. Yes the actual skin... Wore a cosplay that required to have my west open so my bra was showing and a ton of body paint to act as tattoos the character had on his chest. Cosplayers behave worse than the man in the street
My brain always said the person invaded my personal space and did not sexually harass me. But seeing you say that makes me see it too, but sadly that incident isn't the only thing I have gone through. Low cut tank top + male cosplayer = not being able to look at my face as we talk. Made me super uncomfortable (he was a judge of a cosplay competition) and it caused me to wear bandanas and what not to cover my cleavage in my daily life when ever I wore tanktops
This is amazing! I am trying to learn how to make cosplay costumes at the moment but I’m going to be wear for the first time ever a cosplay. It is store bought and I have had a lot of people tell me I’m not a cosplayer because I didn’t make it. (I still work hard to make everything right for it and it costs a lot of money to buy them, I personally find this comment the most offensive)

I cosplay but I've never been to a convention before.I just cosplay on TikTok and Pinterest.But I've had people tell me mean insults about my wigs. People have told me I needed to take care of my wigs better.(They said that to me when I just started cosplaying so I didn't know how to take care of my wigs)It aggravated me. The person who told me this didn't cosplay so they don't know the struggle of it.
I've also had a friend tell me at my birthday party that she wanted to put on one of my wigs and cosplay. She said she wanted to do it to make fun of cosplay and cosplayers. I said no because I didn't want her tangling my wigs and I don't like people insulting my hobby. Then her and my other friend got mad at me.

I do both Raiders Indiana Jones and ESB Boba Fett 3, 4, 6, 13, 23, 31 are the ones I get the most. If someone were to jump on me or damage my costume, I will (and have) gotten physical. Unpopular option: I want to the best Indy or Fett (but I will always encourage other cosplayers)

So I was cosplaying as genocide Jack (toko fukawa) out in public but I was doing her from UDG so you know I’m with a Komaru cosplayer, skipping down the hallway and someone walks up to us and says: “why is your wig not in plaits? And also why do you have a megaphone if you’re trying to cosplay mukuro?” I just screamed “ultra despair girls pretty boy!” And ran off. that was by far the best moment of my life
OMG this is so ridiculous people barely talk to at the event ( which I really didn't care ) but my cosplay was so intimidating at the point they called the cops , because I was cosplay as smiley gang member from manhunt 😂
It is always important to be mindful that certain cosplays can be intimidating or offensive- to the point that they are deemed by some (or all) as inappropriate for wear in public… and a convention space is public. For example, I’ve seen people wearing nazi uniforms be kicked out.

i really want to cosplay and since i am a 13 year old who barley even knows how to sew 2 sheets of fabric together i try finding things online because i'm going to look already bad don't want to make worse, and also i am not putting contacts in my eyes i may not look exactly like the character but for me it's the equal to sewing buttons in my eyes and i don't even know how to sew, but also i'm not animated, so i won't look a lot like the character anyway! i'm pretty sure most people where i live don't cosplay much which is sad cause i get no conventions, at the end of the day some people just suck like just let me wear my glasses in peace i need to see so they don't possibly yell at me for dumping into them. will that stop me from wanting to cosplay? no!

first time (and only so far) i cosplayed at a convention was as misa amane from death note. she's canonically 5'0 and in my shoes for her I was at least 6'0. luckily didn't get anyone saying that I was too tall for her though

I committed to Imperial Officer Commander Sanchez plus I can always buy knew rank bars and a few new imperial uniforms to maximize the cosplay.

I went to my first convention yesterday for the first time, and I saw so many cool cosplayers! I was sadly too nervous to say how amazing they were but I did manage to say one to an Lucifer one (from Hazbin Hotel) it was a quick "I love your costume." They said "thank you!" Happily then I kinda just sped walk away 😅
Edit: just finished watching the video and honestly, this is all common sense stuff of what not to say/do and I now feel bad for people that have moments like these

As someone who who buys their cosplays and cannot wear lenses due to astigmatism (my eyes are slightly misshapen rather than being sphere shaped so wearing them can cause damage to my eyes) I FELT this. I once told someone I bought my cosplay and they just looked at me funny and said ‘Oh, so you cheated?’ Ummm no….I just really like this character and wanted to dress up as them for fun. Isn’t that the point of cosplay? To have fun dressing up as a character you like? Anyway I’m cosplaying Link from Tears of the Kingdom at a con next month and I have dark brown eyes compared to his bright blue eyes so I can’t wait for someone to point that out me…. 😅
I once had someone point out that Sakura card captor had green eyes so I should have been wearing contact lenses to reflect that.
I was wearing a different cosplay later in the day for prejudging so I had those contacts in… I told them that Sakura was a quick cosplay and not my main cosplay for the day.
The cosplay I wore later on was my Red Riding hood which I won best in show at anime Los Angeles at the start of this year… and it was the same convention as this interaction :)

I'm planning to cosplay but I don't post it online cuz I don't feel comfortable and my mom thinks I shouldn't do it either but I do it for fun even if I don't get the character exactly the same I still have fun (even if ur an adult still remember no ones opinion matters unless u want it to matter)

Note:Never gone to a anime con but like to ware kimono as I am self taught traditional Japanese style dance and geisha style arts, I also make/dress up as different anime style people in kimono (I dressed up as azula from ATLA in kimono for Halloween in 2019)
Also when I'm in white makeup I don't want people hugging me so I dont the makeup on my kimono or them....so I definitely hear the "let me get a hug from you in makeup/body paint" *cringe*

My brain always said the person invaded my personal space and did not sexually harass me. But seeing you say that makes me see it too, but sadly that incident isn't the only thing I have gone through. Low cut tank top + male cosplayer = not being able to look at my face as we talk. Made me super uncomfortable (he was a judge of a cosplay competition) and it caused me to wear bandanas and what not to cover my cleavage in my daily life when ever I wore tanktops

This is amazing! I am trying to learn how to make cosplay costumes at the moment but I’m going to be wear for the first time ever a cosplay. It is store bought and I have had a lot of people tell me I’m not a cosplayer because I didn’t make it.

I cosplay but I've never been to a convention before.I just cosplay on TikTok and Pinterest.But I've had people tell me mean insults about my wigs. People have told me I needed to take care of my wigs better.(They said that to me when I just started cosplaying so I didn't know how to take care of my wigs)It aggravated me. The person who told me this didn't cosplay so they don't know the struggle of it.
I've also had a friend tell me at my birthday party that she wanted to put on one of my wigs and cosplay. She said she wanted to do it to make fun of cosplay and cosplayers. I said no because I didn't want her tangling my wigs and I don't like people insulting my hobby. Then her and my other friend got mad at me.

So I was cosplaying as genocide Jack (toko fukawa) out in public but I was doing her from UDG so you know I’m with a Komaru cosplayer, skipping down the hallway and someone walks up to us and says: “why is your wig not in plaits? And also why do you have a megaphone if you’re trying to cosplay mukuro?” I just screamed “ultra despair girls pretty boy!” And ran off. that was by far the best moment of my life

OMG this is so ridiculous people barely talk to at the event ( which I really didn't care ) but my cosplay was so intimidating at the point they called the cops , because I was cosplay as smiley gang member from manhunt 😂
It is always important to be mindful that certain cosplays can be intimidating or offensive- to the point that they are deemed by some (or all) as inappropriate for wear in public… and a convention space is public.
For example, I’ve seen people wearing nazi uniforms be kicked out.

i really want to cosplay and since i am a 13 year old who barley even knows how to sew 2 sheets of fabric together i try finding things online because i'm going to look already bad don't want to make worse, and also i am not putting contacts in my eyes i may not look exactly like the character but for me it's the equal to sewing buttons in my eyes and i don't even know how to sew, but also i'm not animated, so i won't look a lot like the character anyway! i'm pretty sure most people where i live don't cosplay much which is sad cause i get no conventions, at the end of the day some people just suck like just let me wear my glasses in peace i need to see so they don't possibly yell at me for dumping into them. will that stop me from wanting to cosplay? no!
