The damageplan album is a gem and underrated. I’m a huge pantera fan but DP was more accessible but had many moments of brilliance that left you wanting more. 10/10 for me

I have been a Dime fan since cfh and I finally got to meet him in 04 with damageplan at earthday birthday concert in orlando fl. was the most coolest guy I've ever met, he stopped the signing line to approach me to sign my home made Dimebag Tshirt and take a pic with him.
It's taken me months and months to learn the interlude part of "Floods" (plus the solo) along with the outro, but really learning those song fragments were the best technical practice I've ever had.
Really cool licks! I've actually done the third one just from examining the scales and a really basic knowledge of triads. I had no idea it could sound so cool with some speed.
The finest artists are seldom long for this world. Dimebag, like Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, and Stevie Ray Vaughan before him, simply outshined everybody else and poured endless beauty into an ugly world, and then he was gone, but the beauty of his music remains.
Dime plays that arpeggio lick by hammering off of nowhere on the a and the e string, he does it in the clinic video as well during the cemetery gates solo, very difficult to play, guy had such good dexterity.
It’s amazing how that final lick is infamously played differently from person to person. In high school, I watched his solo from when he was 18 and I tried to emulate what he was doing ‘cause it just sounded wicked. I played it (let’s say if I’m in the key of A), I would hammer on from nowhere across the top three strings (ex: 5th fret on E string, 8th fret on B string and 7th fret on G string... and yes I played it one less note). Tbh, now looking back at that video, he does play it like how you showed it. It’s just cool to learn from just hearing and watching first because I never had a clue I was doing it different because it would go by so fast that I would just guess what the notes were. But I’m thankful that you showed us how it’s actually played. Cheers!

If you hunger for more, there are at least two posts on YT of Dime's legendary Randall Clinic, where he basically answers every question, jams some tunes, and chills with the fans (and even plays a little drums lol). If you find a video around 58 minutes long, you've found the clinic and all the afterhang stuff. There are various cuts and clips of it also but 58 minutes should be all the footage of that session that I know of. I have no idea who's channel it's on and I don't usually promote it because fans always find it eventually anyhow and will continue to if it doesn't get taken down someday.

Craig Goldy arpeggio lesson because if you listen to his VHS lesson that arpeggios he uses and also and dios Band-Aid that he put together Craig Goldie does some arpeggios for the guitar solo. I don't think you have made a dug Ulrich video lesson because he has a lot of chords partial cords and then he rings and vibrates the bottom upper structure of the triad while keeping the bass note stationary and his licks throughout all the all the bands he's been in through the early 90s and stuff like that maybe you can relisten to all those albums and try to get some licks to make a dog Ulrich video lesson that would be nice
Quick question for you Dave,between the 2 variations of that last lick you played his version,then your version,which of the 2 is more comfortable for you to play.I find myself doing that myself,I access the "escape route plan",what I call it,and that is where I'll be at (position wise) and where I want to go once I am done playing that sequence of notes in that phrase.I might be overstating,or too detailed in my explanation,maybe not enuff ,lol.But you are right about thinking while you play,most don't like to do that,and I think maybe you should do a video on just how important using you pinky is in playing. I have found out that it relieves tension on my hand and has definitely improved my dexterity as well,I am a big stickler about playing with my thumb resting center of the neck,lets say I keep my thumbnail right above the skunk stripe on a strat for instance ,and this has also helped with the pains of learning to play as well,so I used to imagine all my guitars i have with that strat skunk stripe on the neck,not so much anymore these days,i guess just comfortable with my ability to play I guess,and also thank you for taking the time to put up these videos for all us players out here to view ,you abilities as a seasoned player shows thru you patience and just the love of playing the instrument,keep rocking and tank you again
I have a hard time finding the count but I prefer to count it when have the count. It helps me stay on time vs chasing the beat. I am relatively new to guitar. If anyone can give an explanation of finding the count that would be awesome. Thanks for the video. Love Dime. Gotcha pull
They're the highest charting HEAVY metal band on lists I've seen regarding record sales. I think Metallica is on the list for the black album which is very poppy. Pantera sold millions of records billing themselves as the heaviest possible metal. And that's WHY they sold music. They made METAL mainstream.
