Probably good bc he’s not the best carpenter or mechanic lol!

  • @laurapriestley3679

Sitting in the midst of what they build
they laughed as the rain came falling down on a lush garden in the first of June
a man and woman preparing to leave
climbing vines, and blooming flowers and budding fruit
for the possibility of something unknown
for more climbing flowers, and blooming vines and budding fruit
for more than they could even imagine
they were willing to let this go and the rain fell on these things
and they shared it with the world.
By Jess @ Roots and Refuge Farm
Crap it’s raining, I can’t get a lot done today
I really wish it wasn’t raining, cause I have this to-do-list to do
You know we just have to move a farm in like less than 9 weeks
No biggie and the rain came falling down
By Jeremiah @ Roots and Refuge Farm
Thank you for blessing us, every video with both your wisdom!

      The Prophet . On Children
Gibran Kahlil Gibran // Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

I make short garden films out of them and document it all in a new channel.
I would LOVE for Jess to do something similar - I call them “Poetic Productions” and would love for others to follow suit. More poetry, more art, more of that beautiful harmony like R&R 😍

Honestly Jess, you should interview yourself. Ask your future self some questions. And in a year from now. 2 years 5 yeas from now, play that video back, and record your answers.
Ask yourself about the things you LOVE about your garden/farm at the time. Ask yourself what you miss most about your current garden/farm. Ask yourself about your cows and your goats and ask yourself how what you wish you had known today what your future self would tell your current self about your new farm. About your new life.
You'll have time to learn how to edit that video lol 😆

Sometimes God does things like that to show us that he knows where we are at, what we are facing, hears the cries of our heart, etc. especially when we may not "see" Him or "hear" Him in that season. Faith building...

I would would pray and God would give me vision and the I would spend hours researching. What's amazing for me is that at age 60, all of those thoughts are still true in my life. I am sending my youngest off to college in fall and a year ago I began really planning for my next stage of life. I thought all my dreams had been fulfilled. So I began to explore things I'd thought of but never tried. Now I am gardening, doing arts and crafty things, refinishing furniture, swimming, just bought a new home so I can move away from a parenting centered life and have more focus on what is mine to do with the rest of my life, wanting to explore photography, adding lots of color to my life like never before, and on and on. The dreams make me feel younger, and I am more able to create anything than ever before. Life is good. So great to hear others stories and dreams. Thank you.

I love this advice, Jess. It makes me think of that distinction of coming from a place of lack or a place of abundance. You can yearn for more without it compromising your contentment, because you aren't fearful of lack. You're content in what the world has to offer, rather than afraid of what it might take away.

"Love is in the air everywhere I look around" that was an epic interview. Miah devotion is so incredible. Jess when you said about looking forward in the new place "cows" made me smile. I was in my mid 30's when I visited a real farm. Until than I have lived in a big city. For my surprised I have realised I love cows. I felt I born into the wrong place. I started collecting anything cows. Now I live on a mini farm the last 3.5 years and waking up with cows around me. Epic. My next life I am starting straight on the farm. No desk job for this girl even I agree with Miah getting up early is not my idea but I think on the long run worth it.
Thank you for your honesty and thank you teaching me even I am the older one and I am very happy to learn from you. Looking forward the next interview. Ohhh and please more poetry.😍🤩😇🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖

Oh Sweet Jess, you unlocked a very well protected unhealthy stronghold in me. I think in poetry as well but have had some experiences which caused me to squash that part of myself... subsequently I'm dealing with anxiety and it breaks my heart because I know that's not me. Hearing you speak so confidently, even when maybe you don't feel confident, incites bravery in me. I can and should be my whole self, the way God made me. As God intended, the best place to get ahold of that is in the garden. There is inspiration to be had among brave beets, courageous calendula, and tall tomatoes. Thank you once again, my faraway friend. You inspire me to live wilder still and let the power of the Lord be greater than my brokenness.

I watched this video earlier today and tonight was listening to Ani DiFranco's memoir which contained this quote which I had to immediately come share with you because this is exactly how I felt in my heart when Miah asked you to wax poetic (something I'm prone to as well).💕
