I LOVE that! My grandfather planted pecan trees all over my parents property where their house is. They all are gone, but the next two generations have loved those great pecans. The house now sits empty. It is a gorgeous property was giant majestic live oaks . Where it is located in Houston, the village municipality will not allow anyone to build a mcmansion on it due to the trees. They are protecting them. So it has sold 5 times for over a million each time. it is so sad to see it empty. But I love that they are protecting our old trees that we and 30 area kids would play tree chase in as kids.

I live in the house I grew up in. If you've ever heard the Miranda Lambert song The House that Built Me, that's this house for me. My Daddy died here. My Mom just passed away last year. I'm way too young to have already lost both of my parents, but it's something I can't change, unfortunately. However, I feel closer to them by living in this house. We don't have much money and we are trying to remodel it very slowly, but eventually, we'll get there. Either way, it's home.

Bless you sister ♡ I still think to call and text my mom every day on my break. The first thought in my mind at break is, "I need to call mom". One day I bought her something at the store she needed and made it all the way to the register before I remembered she had passed.

So much like the future you have provided for so many with your channel, you may never know the farmer you have inspired with some child of a mother who has watched your channel teaching that ones mother to garden. SO many GARDENS, from you Jess just speaking out and making that first video. Just like that see your Great Grand Daddy Planted so many years ago. It's amazing how much of a footprint and legacy that we can leave behind for the ones that come after us or even such a amazing footprint in the hearts, gardens, and homes. This is an amazing video to have to show your grandchildren so they can see where they came from.

The evocation of emotion that eludes explanation like the whisper of willow and the perfume of rose and wisteria on the breeze at dusk after a sweltering afternoon. My mom's childhood home was demolished to make room for a freeway. So to have a place that your great-great-grandparents lived is incredible.

It is the character of the person. If one has a heart, then there is emotionality for family and where life began for each of us. Sentimentality is precious. I am a northern born woman with sincere emotionality my whole life. It is NOT regional! It is innermost sensitivity for life and living. Result of family connections and little financial resources. Depending on strength within to survive.

I told my Dad I would love to have a truck load of soil from the fields where they planted so many vegetables over the years. I think it was magic soil as the tomatoes there were big, plentiful and so tasty. My goal.is to eventually grow a tomatoe that yummy. 😍

As I sat and watched, I was so moved that tears flowed. I was reminded of my childhood home and the memories that we made there. It's unfortunately no longer there, but I still ride by and look at the huge oak that still stands. Precious memories. God bless you.

Me too! Brought back memories of my Grand Mother's house in Lebanon, Ky. I so wished I'd had the foresight to try to harvest something from there before it was auctioned to grow like Jess did.

@@DeborahBrown-tj7wx I have a window from the house my grandmother grew up in and some wood from it I eventually want to make shelves with. They had to tear it down about 10 years ago so I’m glad we were able to save a few pieces of it. We now own the property and it’s all just so special to me.

I see a lot of your father in you Jess. I have been told I am a spitting image of my mother. Others say they see my father in me. I find it comforting. I'm glad you are connecting to the old places. It is important.

That’s so touching, to have a possible legacy tree growing at your new property! Wow! I hope you can plant those trees near the new house so your “family tree” can watch your now family grow. That’s super cool!🌱♥️🌳 I love these moments from your channel.

Thanks for sharing, Jess. Funny how just "little things" can mean so much. A suggestion: plant your Pin Oaks in your favorite, have to keep, house plant pot. You'll think about them every time you walk by it. Must Remember our ROOTS dear lady.❤🌱

The part about the oak tree seedlings brought tears to my eyes. You are a wonderful person. I love watching your videos. I’ve been an avid gardener all my life (47 years old). I know a lot about gardening, but you teach me new stuff all the time. Thank you. Also I love your vocabulary.

Ahhhh. Change. So powerful. It’s the future at the expense of the past. But the past is our history. I find change challenging but the most exciting things happen when we embrace change. Wishing your family the best.

A neighbor across the street died many years ago - I recall when we first moved to this house he described and showed us the massive oak he planted years and years previous on the edge of his property - but - his new neighbors didn't like trees, cut all theirs down, then forced him to allow half to be lopped off because the acorns were damaging their stupid cars. Today - the squirrels bring his acorns from his tree, plant them in my yard (and in my planters LOL) - so there! :) Wonderfully moving post - thank you from Quebec Canada.

Dang it Jessica and your waxed poeticness!!! 🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭😭 Look s like a beautiful house! So many memories are hard to let go off. I grew up with my grandma, and we lived with her. My mom sold the house shortly after she died, and I never had the opportunity to truly say “goodbye”. I’m glad you got the chance. It’s important. 💜 I love your dads accent! It’s really lovely!! And he seems awesome! Still praying for him 💜💜💜💜
