That's how ALL of them should be, eh? Leave it alittle nicer and stocked (especially first-aid). I went to a very very remote, super old, fantastic built true log cabin on state land in AZ that I was so saddened to see it trashed out, especially on state land
if your rig starts running warm turn on your heater on full blast .that should bring it down.. used that trick many times . thank you for taking us along … i love seeing the warm dry desert 😎 and cool old shacks
Precisely! I will never forget the time when I was climbing a grade in the middle of nowhere on a highway and my engine started to overheat and ping. I turned the heater on to cool it down and my friend who was the reason why we were there in the first place thought I was crazy. It was 90+ outside, no air conditioning, windows down with the heater on. That day I learned why you don't buy the cheapest 87 octane gas in town. FWIW That was the best that I could afford back then. Thankfully the engine survived. I was honestly worried for it. It sounded like a bunch of marbles in a tin can.
@ i drove from California to Colorado with my heater on full blast and 90° weather. The head gasket was partially blown. But I made it. It’s a good trick.
i found a mess of those log cabin cans at the local dump . my kids found them in the back of my truck and made a little town 👍🏼. as i remember the cans were different . store or house or some other building. cool memories, thanks
Many old cabins, in both California and Nevada are called "Volunteer" Cabins, because small groups of people try very hard to maintain them. They are "first come, first serve" places to camp. You have to hang the American flag to let others know you are camping there. I seen a number of them and some are quite unique and special. There is a log book inside, sign it, even if you're just visiting. I think there is a book that tells you how to get to many others like this.
@t5w4i8lig12ht I don't think the people who maintain the cabin would be upset. In fact, they would probably be happy for the help in the upkeep. I'd also make a notation in the log book to let them know you helped. I used to bring and leave a bunch of canned goods for visitors to use. And a few items to add to the first aid kit. I am no longer able to visit these cabins now a days since I live in North Carolina now and no longer in the Mojave Desert. I do miss those deserts at times.
Your GPS is off. That's the CALIFORNIA desert. And since it's less than 15 miles from the freeway, it shouldn't be that hard to get a bean bag out there. Fun fact - There was a meth lab there once.
You did a great job with the filming and editing on this one. I wish you wouldn't have given up your location. Old cabins like this need to be protected at all costs.
I appreciate that! As far as the specific location, I didn't share enough info to find it. Anyone who really cares to explore can find places like this online though.
It's refreshing to see something left intact and not needlessly vandalized/destroyed. I hope it stays that way for others to enjoy for years to come. Cool video. Cheers.
I was out there about 10 years ago.about 20 years ago the gate was locked ,which caused the gov. to get suspicious, they caught 4 guys making drugs. It was locked up for a few years ,that's a nice area with great views.
Awesome exploration as always Trooper, love the bluegrass music while the two of your vehicles driving together on those dry lake beds, makes me miss the Mojave Desert, but yet I'm only a few hours north from there.
The old fridge is one powered by kerosene, it uses the absorbtion cycle. As long as you had a source of heat, they would cool the fridge innards, electric elements either 12 or in our case 240v would also make them work. Thanks for another interesting video mate.
Surprised the can dump was so spread out. You'd think it would all be one big general pile. Also, those two stall toilets crack me up. Who wants to sit side by side with someone else doing their business?
At 23:31, the Refrigerator you found is most likely a 1930's Servel brand Refrigerator that would run on Methane or Propane gas, and was therefore popular with people who did not have Electricity.
Copper ore of some sort, maybe some silver it with it as I understand they're often to be found together. That's not to say there's enough to make it worth extracting.
I think the one flat can with the hinged lid which you speculated might be cigarettes and you buddy said tobacco is indeed a pipe tobacco can. I think the other can with the angled top cut out of it was a Log Cabin brand syrup can. They used to shape the can like a little house and paint the outside so it looked like a log cabin. Good video. Haven't seen your channel before. I used to live in SOCA and loved 4 wheeling in the desert on the BLM roads off the 15 freeway north of Barstow. Everything in your video seemed so familiar even though I've never been where you were. I liked and subbed your channel. Cheers! Pop
Around the 15 mark, it was a complete flaahback moment for me. Lol We were in the desert between Bisbee and Tombstone, and I find an open pit about 8' across. I sneak up as close to it as i felt comfortable to (felt like inches, but was actually about 2' away 😂). I pick up a rock & toss it in so i could see how long before it made a noise. No noise. Huh. Toss another in. Nothing. Wtf?!? Gtab a larger rock. Toss. Nothing. Grab a huge rock and heave it in. Crash! The largest white owl ive ever seen whooshes up out of the hole, wing span as wide as my arms, the wind oftheflapping moves my hair. 😮 I fall backwards, now i know im slipping into the pit: pee a little, squeek a little, crabcrawl backwards a lot! I ended up clear back at the Jeep, still thinking i was going into the Bottomless Pit of Death! 😂 To this day, i have no idea if the pit was 2' deep with an owls nest at the bottom or if the pit was 100' deep and the owl was tired of rocks going by. 😶🌫️ No such things as drones back then. Thanks for the memories. 👍 Stay safe and keep posting the vids. 😊
I think It's nice People are taking care of those cabin's so if you need a Place to stay for the night under shelter, That's the way it's suppose to be
Yellow Cake Uranium Mines........ Hope you washed your hands. Just kiddin, but there is the possibility of it being there. It would be interesting to have a frisker there?
Those bars on the mines are so bats can get in and out and no people obviously. That would of been cool as f. If you guys lifted the door for the refer and was a tunnel underneath. Those cactuses will mess you up. I tripped and fell into one it really sucked.
I’m a coke collector. I was hoping it was a pre 1924 one for you. On bottles like Yoù found, the year is on the sìde. Pre 24 bottles can be worth good $ if found intact.
Driving around in 4 wheel drive will certainly have your engine running hot. And if you took a metal detector with you you might just find enough treasure to pay for the gas.
I am from Las Vegas myself, and I stay out of Commiefornia. When I go out to the open desert in my 4X4 I carry guns with me that are illegal in Commiefornia. In Nevada, Arizona, and Utah I can carry a loaded hand gun with me, and rifles that are not locked up in a case, but not in Commiefornia. I would not want to get stopped by a park ranger or BLM in Commiefornia, and have them start asking me if I had any weapons on me.
I have a serious question. Why do you not take some things from your explorations? That fridge door would be a cool decoration for a garage or "man cave". I know bigger things would be hard to carry, but why not even something small like that coke bottle? I assume you leave them for other people to see, but I think I would be tempted to take small items. Thank you again for another great video!
It's kind of dumb that you didn't stop and show us all around the amusement park and kind of explain to us why it's way out there in the middle of nowhere
It is at one of the hotels at the state line between NV and CA. Crazy huge drop but you will feel completely wreck and hour later. The Desperado opened 1994.
Its just a hotel built in 1994 called Buffalo Bills. The roller coaster has been closed down for maybe 10 years. Its just for gambling/hotel now. The concrete river rider inside the build is not working either. I stayed there maybe 5 years ago, its a real shithole. lol Next to it are a lot of large outlet stores.
It’s not in the middle of nowhere, I-15 is just a cple hundred yards to the Right along with a bunch of casinos many closed recently during the C19 shenanigans.
The flip lid thin container is a Prince Albert Pipe Tobacco Can. My Great Grandfather died in 72 at 104 and he smoked a pipe using Prince Albert. Not too many choices back in the 50s at a small country store. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Albert_(tobacco)

Loved this exploration. So interesting. It amazes me how much activity goes on in the desert. Thank you William and Nick.☮️💖🎶
...what a GREAT find!!! ...thank you for sharing :)
Those old bottles were super cool..but that rug when you walked through the connection into the other cabin. That rug was sweet

Fridge door sporting that art decco look. Nice find. Loved the patina on that!
The car hood in the barn looked to be late 30s, crazy thats still there
Very cool exploration, I enjoyed it. Thank you from Havasu!

Been to those cabins more than once.
The morning star mine near by is massive.
Lots of copper in the area.
Morning Star is fun. I found some really nice azurite samples there about a decade ago.
This was a great trip...looked like a blast!
That was awesome!
Thanks for that. It's a cool trip
I am so gĺad people respect the history there. Nobody has damaged them intentionally. No graffiti.

Rock contains Chrysocolla. I Believe...(maybe they were mining for copper...
Azurite
The part that had the net is called a stope, the mined up from their main drift to the surface.
Nice desert trip out there broskies. Edit: Malachite Copper
That blue-green Copper based mineral is Chrysocolla. It's used as a gemstone
15:38 I don’t know about everyone else, but I watch you and other channels SPECIFICALLY for crazy things on video?
Copper will patina to a green blue after long exposure to the elements of the rain, air etc
Hope you have a wonderful weekend
New TH-cam challenge. How many times can you say dude in one video. 😂
That is awesome good find thanks for sharing
Chrysocola signifies copper- So. Az. Is covered in many areas with copper laying on the ground. And turquoise.
Given copper's value, one has to wonder why they stopped!
