@@tabsrus1857 you offend me my good sir. I am the most heavily armed warship of the age of sail, boasting 140 guns across 4 gundecks, far outgunning any other ship on the ocean. There is no pirate foolish enough to attack me, and fewer still who i have any need to be scaring off.
hey baron a some of advice from one kingdom to another 1 as far as soldiers and archers for your army they have a bit less range then the archer towers and ballista but are mobile and don't count to your population cap but you have to pay them constantly supply them with weapons and armor from a blacksmith 2 i think its under the industrial tab get carts once you start getting a lot of iron or food having one of those that can move 70 of a resource at a time is so helpful 3 on that note carts can move food from one Granary to the other so its perfectly reasonable to have it move the food from Granarys by the fields to larger or more secure ones inside your walls 4 pretty sure you can't build on an island with an AI unless you attack and other throw them by destroying the keep good luck with that 5 since you'll want a standing army for invaiding if you aim for that or just to have defenses without needing to dedicate part of your population to it build up some walls and put some stairs so your troops can get up the walls just make sure you put them someplace the vikings can't get them otherwise they can move in the walls and depending where you put other stairs possibly pop out some place you don't want take stuff and then retrace the path they took getting around any of your towers 6 a good item to sell for extra gold once you ramp up production to more then you need is arms and armor from the blacksmith you have to wait for a merchant ship to swing by but its a good way to make a few hundred gold every so often 7 kind of a a late game item and takes some time to pay off but making a grand library alloys you to unlock all functional upgrades for the kingdom stuff like upgrades to the archer and ballista towers bakers making more food though it is very expensive for the upgrade itself plus staffing it and it has to be staffed for a few years to unlock anything but it also improves happiness around it by a large amount right next to it and in decreasing amounts the further from it you go in its radius 8 the sea gate can only be built on shallow water so keep that in mind when making your perimeter best of luck Baron -signed the black knight
Baron, one way I defended my island late game was building walls all around the island, leaving only one spot to land. The area around it would l of arrow towers and the coast lined with ballistas, the ballistas can take out ships before they land and archer towers can take out enemies who managed to land.

Cool feature: if you place things like the treasury and chamber of war next to your keep, they get intergrated into it, so you castle gets really big over time. So very cool.
