I feel for Josh ,.. it's hard when you gave your all inton a band for 10 years and then for one day unexpectedly be taken back that away from you is like losing a love one really. He was really disappointed that this happened to him unexpectedly. He took it hard .. and i couldn't blame him.
Josh is a great session musician and multi instrumentalist , nobody has to feel sorry for him , after RHCP he toured with Pearl Jam and recorded an album with Morrissey and did Pluralone , he’s doing fine 🤷🏼♂️
I think the chilli's messed up..they needed a new direction and with Josh gaining more and more confidence I think that great great things were about to happen..I'm angry at the chili's for doing what they have done...well that's all I have to say today 🤓

Not bad but meh...Josh is an excellent artist, musician but not a guitar player of a rock band, or certainly not the guitar player for rhcp, his solos, most of them are a disaster, drowned in delay and tons of effects. Could be cool here and there, not always... Really like some songs of Pluralone, really good job but his vibe has not much to do with rhcp and that's why Flea wanted John back. So don't be mad at them. They are the band, not you or us. Rhcp won't be as popular as in the 90's and 2000's anymore, i don't expect a revolution but they should go for a rawer sound. They shouldn't feel forced to go back to the harmonies and rock ballads anymore, fuck the expectations.
How can he not have imagined John returning? I love Josh, but he was always just a placeholder for the real thing. The Chilis could have had Hendrix or Jimmy Page as their guitarist and they still would have dropped them the moment John expressed a wish to return to the band. It sounds like this was badly handled and communicated but Josh should have understood the role he was playing. John, Flea, Chad and Anthony have an unbeatable chemistry that no one else can match.
For all of us saying: "oh poor Josh, he was let out, bla bla..." I love this guy also and I empathize with him but c'mon!! 7 billion human beings won't be EVER able to play in RHCP for just one gig, let alone 10 years!!!! Josh was, is and will be OK forever and he made (and continue making due to royalties) way moooore money than me or you reading this or felling "sorry" for Josh. He is ok but myself and yourself get on with our own life.
I cant see any reason why they couldnt just keep josh AND have john back? The couldve demoted josh to rhythm and backing guitar without firing him and could open the band to diffrent dynamics in writing

For me personally Frusciante is on a different stratosphere with RHCP! My ears here it in every single song when they play together it’s mean to be and there’s no denying it. Josh is a good musician no doubt but ‘without sounding cliche’ he’s no Frusciante WHEN he’s playing with RHCP

You're absolutely right man. But once you taste 'heaven', everything else becomes just 'not so good'.

Well John barely spoke of the band during the ten years, Flea wasn't even in contact with John until like 2018-2019 I believe.
