Today the guided path has 75 individual lessons (I'm not sure how many it had when you did it last year, but it had to be close). To do all of them in 46 days at a 3-star level is phenomenal - congrats!
I'm on day 40 and I'm on lesson 30. Mind you I also completed Beats by J Black's course in that time, and I'm also learning his "Love Dream" (grade 13 level) at the same time. And I'm also doing the piano keyboard path at the same time, while also learning "Light & Dark" (a song, learning bassline - Grade 10 level) on keyboard, so I'm kind of doing 4 things at once.
Maybe if I only did the guided path on drumpads alone I might finish in 46 days? I still doubt it. That's great work!
I will say, as much as I admire certain finger drummers, I don't think their courses or any other courses can compare to what Melodics has assembled. I consider it the absolute best way to learn finger drumming and contemporary keyboard accompaniment playing. The feedback on the exact timing of notes, the mistaken hitting of unintended notes, the ability to visualize what you're feeling/playing.... it's really a multi-faceted way of learning a new instrument.
If anyone is on the fence about Melodics, esp for the monthly cost, I'll say IF you're the kind to dedicate 20-60 minutes per day (or more) to learning, this path will give you a very balanced learning path that introduces tons of skills in a systematic order, all while walking you through a wide variety of styles and genres of music to play. It's so easily worth the cost for anyone who is seriously willing to put in the time.

I've been making music in Reason for 20 years now and I still learn something every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks!

Great work. Definitely... tapping out our own beats real time makes for a funkier, more human feel than trying to program in all those swung hits. Quantizing what needs to be tighter and leaving as much of the rest loose is what gives each of us own unique sonic signature

The one cool thing is if you stick with the guided path they give you different techniques and genres along the way, so you are exposed to new thing. I think if you are doing any production thats a great benefit so you don't get stuck just in the same old thing. I did keys version for over a year straight and learned a lot, but now they kind of fixed it up so it works more like a DAW piano roll so I kind of have to relearn to use the app but in the end I think it will be even more helpful.

Well said and, yes, the DAW-like display is better because it will translate to your actual music production so much better! I'm only 20 days in on keyboard but I did take piano lessons for years as a youngster, so I'm making steady progress relearning stuff I could do as a kid WITH the added benefit of learning some more complex rhythms than what I played when I took piano lessons. Melodics is the way to go.

To be fair you don’t have to be some world class finger drumming expert to craft great instrumentals , honestly it’s doesn’t have much to actually do with it when it comes down to it

Do you by chance know if you can do the actual drum lessons using finger drum pad?

I'm not sure what you're asking. But you can test it out with the free version.

I guess I don’t really “need” to add finger drumming to my DJ routine, but I’m thinking it could be really cool to do that. I’m just looking to get the opinions of DJ’s that have done this. Game changer or not a huge deal?

Different programs allow you to record multiple drums on more than track. Ableton Live is my top pick, fl Studio does it too.

    • @djtuffmann1643

@Kickback Couture yes that is right ,maybe there are some DAW's that can do multi recoding and you can edit them after that , okay I use logic and reason , you can do a completely finger recording
And take every sound like kick snare hi hat to new tracks is also possible, I found it better for the control for every sound because you can regular the volume,
Do compressors on it and effects
.... even on my MPC I👍👨‍🦳 do this ,
but okay for becoming a better Finger Drummer it's a great way.👍

@@djtuffmann1643 If you add a drums plugin like EZDrummer you can play it on finger drums and it will record each instrument to its individual track. I'm sure Steven Slate Drums and others also have this ability but I only know about EZDrummer. Best of both worlds - live playing on finger drums while retaining the track by track structure of your recordings
