When I was at university in the US, I spent a lot of time learning about American humour, which was very helpful. I went a step further and began writing a humorous column in the university paper as well. Sports, movies, music all help in your assimilation as well. You don't have to agree or like everything, but understanding it goes a long way in.

I mean yes desis are increasing in numbers but it’s not like the white population has suddenly vanished! In fact, it’s not just that you have tonnes of other immigrants from Africa, Asia, East Europe so it’s a melting pot
