baseck dropping album quality demos like it's no big deal
this dude is so talented it's crazy. not the biggest fan of the genre but you can't deny how skilled he is on these machines. his octatrack demo is nuts, best ot performance video i've ever seen.

FINALLY!!! Someone who can actually put the Syntakt through its paces and show what that bad ass box can do in capable hands. I can't believe I haven't heard of Baseck before, because dude is a certified G. Mine gets here tomorrow and I'm so damn excited now! Haven't had a groovebox since my old MC-505 and I've finally found one worthy to own again. I'm beyond impressed by this performance.
So. How have you been exploring with this new machine? I see the deep parameters and I can't help thinking you would need a decade of drum machine smarts to even begin to set up these grooves.This isn't going to happen by just turning it on and some quick tweaks! Right?! Seriously..how did you find working with it?
@@sillyworm It's actually a pretty simple device to wrap your head around. I do have a fair amount of experience with sequencers and synthesis, so it helps to have that background. Honestly, the sequencer rocks and is easy to use. I see now why everyone talks about how much they love Elektron for their sequencers. Also the "machines" make it easy to get to certain types of sounds, quickly. Once you get an idea of what tones/range of tones to expect from each "machine", they're a convenient starting point. You're always going to start with something that is at least somewhat useful, sound-wise. I just read the manual and went from there. I had a pretty cool beat going with some modulation and parameter locks within an hour of turning it on. It's very different from the Roland Groovebox approach in many ways, but you're still just manipulating sounds and placing them in a sequence like any other variation of the approach. Just start by learning how to select different drum sounds and place them on the grid via step sequencing. You can learn about tweaking all of the machines and advanced sequencer capabilities as you experiment.

Baseck will just jump on any gear and immediately start rocking. He's responsible for me buying my Syntakt. Amazing little box. I want to buy an Octatrack because of him as well.

I have hated every single "groovebox" I've ever saw, played or heard in my 25+ years of making electronic music....until I heard this thing. Holy hell, there's no way I'm passing on this unit!
Most good groveboxes are allowing you to shape a certain sound if you skilled enough, of course they have a base tone but this can be alternated. This Demo is a good example, while the syntakt sounds undoubtly very very nice, its also basecks sound and yet hes a very good programer and performer. Listen to his tempest/digitone stuff.

No doubt this piece of gear looks/sounds/seems super dope. Let's get that out of the way first. This box looks dope and I, like everyone else geeking out over that demo, would very much like one for my own.
However, it's also important to keep in mind that Baseck is just a very talented producer and could probably make the shittiest, half busted old groovebox from the 90's sound pretty damn hot. Just something to keep in mind when you shell out the big bucks on a bunch of super capable gear and wonder why it all sounds like crap for the first XX years of dedicated effort. I'm sure Baseck is no exception to this rule himself... The difference is that he's already put in the work and we're all now enjoying some of the fruits of his labor. 🔥🔥

A master at work. A very interesting machine.
So basically is all the elektrons touch up in a concept :p think im good with my dark trinity my jomox boxes and sherman. But is a brilliant idea to bring elektron in the game vs other brand grooveboxes long gone their glory one man vs machines days now they just business like the rest so they had to make em easier and cheesier a bit..Yet This with an mpc and an octatrack in between will be a monstrus combo
