I will be guttin a 99 4x4 Grand Cherokee and puttin EVERYTHING in my 01 2wheeldrive Grand Cherokee.. All i need is warm weather an a little Motivation !
It feels weird but your welcome, and thank you. That is alot of work for two days, but you do know jeeps like the back of your hand. Love the mechanic videos. I have to look and see if you posted another video on that one with the cold exhaust front and back cylinders. So much time into that one. Thank you for being a genuine honest person 💛
Cool Video. I do believe you about having the bolts memorized. I used to work at a ford dealer rebuilding transmissions. I had every bolt, nut and location of them on the Taurus memorized. Keep up the great work!
Love the videos Dex. I just rescued a broke down 2000 XJ that is in great shape just needed a motor put in. I got that done over the weekend I got to hear it run long enough to take it down the road and realize it needs a radiator. But that's okay because that's what I'll be doing this weekend!
Very knowledgeable.... Preciate the secrets and tricks , give this man a thumbs up on all his videos and comment to help him out for him sharing all the secrets and tricks!!!
It’s funny I watched one of your videos a few days ago and thought to myself that you Looked very familiar to me … and then I came across the video with your rock bouncer … and it came to me I had seen videos of you Racing in the SRS series … thank for you videos …
I love watching your videos me and my wife always say I wish we could do something like that when you guys go out in the jeeps on the trails but keep up with the content bud it’s awesome to watch you get these jeeps back on the road and or trails
Keep up the content Dex! Its awesome to see your ways of doing things solo for those of us that have had to figure out ways of getting it done by ourselves.
Hey Dex Keep the great videos coming! I enjoy them immensely. I'm a long time Jeep fan have owned many different types from 1967 to 1998. My current Jeep is a 94’ Cherokee limited. I brought it back from the dead back in 2006.
I just recently started watching ur videos I love car videos especially those that are in TN. I’m fellow tenn. also. U have a dark blue Comanche that is very nice. Ur channel is interesting I like the everyday unscripted it relates more to us everyday people. Have a blessed day keep up the good work.
I love this color always been my favorite ,I’m xjs lover I have 2 99 blue stick ,and 01 white auto was 2wd I converted to 4wd and both got rear brake disk conversion
You the man Dex!!!!! Love your knowledge great teacher!!!! So I was dreamin on it lol your quote I feel ya......I have a 07 wk 3.7 I wish had your advice on rear suspension cradle mines rusted but the rest is good just don't know how hard to replace with out a lift figure I can find part in junk yard.....need a friend like you
I got a 01 cherokee that's my baby. Bought it with just a tad over 53 thousand miles, no has 69 thousand and 4 ½ inch lift and 33s 😅. Very much still my baby an dream jeep. What's crazy is the original owner paid 23 thousand for it new off the lot in Louisville ky!
I used axles from 98 jeep Cherokee special edition.. to solid axle swap my 98 Chevy blazer lol At the same time doing a V8 swap.. I’ve got the axles in mostly done, but the motor is still on the stand
Sausalito California says we love 4.0 Nation ! Cuz YOU GOTTA have a Live Chat - do it Saturday Night @ 5 pm your time - pull up your chair in your garage with a big Smart Phone and let us all ask you questions for an hour - only gotta answer the ones you want ! Do it Johnny!
I had the exact same issue in a 94 4.0 XJ. 275,000 miles. 1st cyclinder piston hole. It wasn’t center, though. May have had a valve slap at TDC. Couldn’t really tell.
DeX LMBO you have got 2b the fastest mechanic in the world. Lol. Wished i could get my 86 Toyota 4x4 and get my disabled veteran butt up there to where your at and maybe you could help me get it going PROPERLY!!!!
G’day Dex, could you please do a detailed run down on the 2WD version of the XJ. I live in NSW Australia and the Jeep’s only come available with 4X4. I don’t want to get rid of my 2001 XJ and get a smaller car as I have to deal with crap 💩 roads and wildlife. I have others that are 4x4 so one 2WD would be good for a daily commuter. I’m thinking about importing a AW4 from the states and I have to build a 2WD front axle myself as there are some different things like the track bars location. I have other vehicles here that run the AW4 in other makes like Toyota and Mitsubishi that I maybe able to adapt but I’m unsure of what the 2WD XJ crossmember mount is like. I pay $1.80 a litre for petrol or as you say Gasoline here and it’s a killer. I’m hoping to get around 10 litre per 100 kms or 62 miles out of it which I believe is possible. I would like to set the Jeep lower to and keep the standard fitment tyres on it to. Like I said it’s more about chasing the fuel economy than anything else. The xj comes here with 3.55 and 2.5 diesel comes with 3.75 so I can play around with ratios to. What you are doing with Jeeps is my dream but they have a small following here in Australia 🇦🇺 Keep up the good work mate
What could you say about a WJ transmission and or transfer case leaking at the transmission mounting bolts? Why and is that possible? I’ve cleaned it completely and barely in 1hr what looks like transmission fluid leaches out. And no nothing from the top is wet only the area at which you mount the transmission mount. I’d add a photo but idk how. Thanks for all your knowledge!
Got a question. I'm using transmission and transfer case out of a 96 on my 2001. As far as electrical what do I got to do to plug all the connections in? If you have something you working on similar it would be to see a video about the transmission plugs. Thanks
Hey im trying to see how to get a hold of you ive got a 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 2wd that my shift cable is broken and i cant seem to find a replacement! would be interested in seeing if you could help me out dex!
hey did you ever figure out what was going on with the comanche? my cherokee has a similar idle issue but I have an REM (renix engine monitor) Weird enough I get a loop fault lean, loop fault rich, o2 sensor heater voltage low/high. So the o2 sensor is definitely bad. I am gonna change it and see if that was truly affecting it. But just saying that could be the issue.
You're welcome. We are using you for entertainment, knowledge and an overall good time!
If the rust hasn't gotten to it-- it's mint. I don't care what year, or what the body looks like--- if its solid, its solid! :D
My friend told me this channel. I just got a 96 XJ 4.0 and wanna stuff myself with as much knowledge as possible
It’s all coming. I just started!!
@dexjs not sure if you've seen any of my comments, but I hope you've seen a couple.....
I appreciate all your random a$$ knowledge and entertainment. The things you know are sooo underrated and people don’t talk about this stuff
You know a xj like the back of your hand lol. Killer video. People like me never mess with a jeep and your sharing experience that helps us out
I will be guttin a 99 4x4 Grand Cherokee and puttin EVERYTHING in my 01 2wheeldrive Grand Cherokee.. All i need is warm weather an a little Motivation !

Keep the great videos coming, I love how excited you get when things work out, like you thought they would.
Cool Video. I do believe you about having the bolts memorized. I used to work at a ford dealer rebuilding transmissions. I had every bolt, nut and location of them on the Taurus memorized. Keep up the great work!
Now you got me wanting to do a road trip to Tennessee from Michigan to get one of these CLEAN rust free Cherokee's from you!
Love the videos Dex. I just rescued a broke down 2000 XJ that is in great shape just needed a motor put in. I got that done over the weekend I got to hear it run long enough to take it down the road and realize it needs a radiator. But that's okay because that's what I'll be doing this weekend!

wish you would have done a How-to on converting one to 4x4 from 2wd.
Been waiting on the 2wd to 4wd video. Always wondered what all was involved. Didn’t have a clue.....
You and your brother are awesome
Nice, glad you got it running.
Dex the GOAT. Awesome channel
Mutch Apriciated,
Never seen that before!
I love your videos, me and a friend are currently working on his project XJ country 2wd and are pondering converting it to 4wd
You should send some of those rust free jeeps up to Minnesota!
Good job brother 👍 Reilly nice jeep.

beautiful jeep
No rust no problems
I had the exact same issue in a 94 4.0 XJ. 275,000 miles. 1st cyclinder piston hole. It wasn’t center, though. May have had a valve slap at TDC. Couldn’t really tell.

Nice xj 👍
You are really good son im driving a 93 xj 4.0 Country son bought for me come from Arizona
My favorite color.
That Jeep is minty
These things are so synonymous with offroad 4wd"ing, I sometimes forget they came in 2wd
i wonder if they had like double sided tape under the rear plate and the mud sticking to the old adhesive
just found your channel i believe you got a cravy jeep like mine
id like to find on in this shape for my next trail rig
Take the rear bumper caps off. Underneath them are usually rusted out, as I'm sure you are well aware.
Get you some red hot engine degreaser for them engine bays just make sure not to let it dry out or it will streak the paint
Where is the Comanche? I need answers.
I'm interested in the answer to that one too ❓
learning from ya ...good content dude
👍👍👍
My new favorite channel. Love all things XJ, are you going to sell or keep this one?
I want to daily it for a while then see
Can you show us exactly where, what and how you checked to see if the fuel pump work? I know it try and start it like that but I don’t really get it
yup it is what it is
i did the same thing replaced gas to 93 and oil to synthetic
No rust no problem

I watched a Lots of you're videos looking for Jeep Comanche tailgate. Preferably Gray, non dented.

Saving those general videos for a little while longer. More subs

When I 4wd swapped my 01 I didn’t have to lengthen my speedo is just a 99 down thing
Got a question. I'm using transmission and transfer case out of a 96 on my 2001. As far as electrical what do I got to do to plug all the connections in? If you have something you working on similar it would be to see a video about the transmission plugs. Thanks
This is probably one of the cleanest XJ's I have ever seen, Even with the interior the way it is.
Dont bring it to Canada, itll be rusted in seconds
👍
How do you like those Bosch plugs?? Of course everybody says champion or ngks
Hey im trying to see how to get a hold of you ive got a 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 2wd that my shift cable is broken and i cant seem to find a replacement! would be interested in seeing if you could help me out dex!

Do you ever use fuel additives or seafoam for the fuel pumps?
Nice rig! What players do you use to get the c clips off of the TC shafts?
Always wondered what'd it take to swap a 2wd t0 4wd.
25:48 hey..hell..hey-hey ya, sorry cant cus 😂
Do you redo your own seats? Where do you get the cover?
