Great idea putting wallpaper on panel! It looks awesome!😜
Glad you like it! Thank you 😊
what a beautiful separate piece of furniture, never seen before, great
I never seen one in this style either which is what drew me to it
As usual, you did a bang-up job. I really like the inserts, being able to change them out makes it so much fun.
Thank you so much Pam. I really liked that aspect of it aswell
You are an amazing artist!!! Great job!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much
Beautiful chest and masterful work!
Thank you 🙏
Gorgeous restoration
Thank you so much mrsjax. I appreciate your compliment
Loos great. The wallpaper was a nice addition.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kindness
Gorgeous!! You make it look so easy….
Thank you! 😊
Yes Saran wrap over the stripper works great. I've used it several times already and just used it on three more dresser drawer fronts that I'm working on. Especially good if the old finishes heavy. You can leave it on overnight and it's still keeps it moist.
Financially thought the piece was a credenza. What an awesome cedar chest great job!
Thank you so much James. I had no idea you can leave it overnight. I did a desk and it wasn’t working at all so I had to sand it for hours. Thank you again!!
Oh I see, wall paper, clever!!
Thank you
That's gorgeous!
Thank you so much amber
Wow another beauty. Now I wish I hadn’t given my lane cedar chest away. Traded it for a chest of drawers I don’t have anymore!
Dang. That’s unfortunate. Lane makes the best cedar chests
It's beautiful piece, you need to tell the customer to call lane furniture store they have a recall on the lock's
Thank you so much Kathleen. I’ll definitely reach out to them and let them know. To have the key would top this chest off. Had I known I would have called them before hand. Thank you again.
Another amazing project!
Thank you very much Lorrie. Definitely one of my favorites. It was so hard not to keep it.
@@CedarPineDesigns I’m a sucker for anything mid century so I completely understand not wanting to see it go :)
@@lorrieguinn8221 me too! I love mid century. I have a few pieces in my stash that I’ve been putting off cause I don’t want to sale. But I may have to
LOVE it! love the wall paper too!
Thank you so much

That looks awesome!
Thank you very much Kat.
Even the light coloured wood has such a nice grain pattern! I’m so happy that you restored it - what a stunning piece!
Thank you so much. When I seen this piece, I knew it deserved a restoration and not paint. I’m glad you like it.
GREAT JOB!!!
Thank you so much madeleine
Beautiful work
Rosa, you’re too kind. Thank you so much
Beautiful work. I like the way you use wood stains
Thank you so much. I’m glad you like my work. It means a lot to me. Take care.
Gorgeous
Thank you linda
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Very cool piece that turned out fantastic! I might have changed the hinges to something better looking or more authentic. I wasn't sure if I'd like the wallpaper but it looks great and actually makes the two wood tones and the coppery lock compliment each other. I would love to do what you're doing but don't have the place or space so I watch your videos and live vicariously through you.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your insight and compliments. One day I hope you can tackle a project of your own
Stunning!!
Thank you so much Liz.
I can’t tell you how amazing your pieces are!

Thank you Laura. Glad you like it.
Nice profit! The piece looks amazing!
Thank you brother.
Good work.
Thank you mark
Love it!!
Thank you 🙏
I changed to 400 grits after noticing scratched in my finish BUT then I started using 1000 and 🤩🤩 definitely recommend!
Wow. I’m going to give that a try. I’ve had some 1000 grit laying around for a while and I’m going start using it. Thank you
Phenomenally beautiful!
Thank you so much Lynda. I’m really proud of this piece. I really appreciate your kindness and support.
Great flip! I had a chance to get small a mid cent Lane cedar chest, but when to go buy it and find an employee, someone I think noticed I wanted it and bought it out from under me. It was $10 and I really needed it. It was to go in the family house and store some family treasures. Well I guess I will need to pony up $300 if I can find that style again.
Dang. That’s very unfortunate. There’s some pretty nice ones in my area but they are between $100-$200
Beautiful. FYI those locks have been recalled for safety reasons. If you contact the Lane company they will send you a replacement free of charge.
Wow. Thank you so much Emily. I’ve been told this just yesterday and I’ll have to reach out to the new owner so they can get a new one. Thank you again for the info and kind words.
Soo beautiful ❤ You're so talented 👌
Thank you so much mette. I’m flattered by your kindness.
After watching this video of yours, I am a new subscriber. My sister had a lane cedar chest and I wish I knew what happened to it. I really enjoyed your video and your explanations. This cedar chest turned out gorgeous. Looking forward to going back and binging all your videos. Take care, stay safe.
Thank you so much Kathy. I truly appreciate your kindness and support. It definitely means a lot to me. I’m glad you enjoy my work as well as my content. Thank you again and you take care as well.
Stunning. I love how it turned out and the wallpaper is just fabulous the way it's used. Well done.
Thank you so much for the compliment Emer.
Would love to know how you did the patters on the top? Stunning!!
Samuel you have done a beautiful restoration on this piece!!!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the compliment. I wanted to keep it but has to let it go.
With MCM furniture, the lighter wood is usually Ash or Beech. When staining thst wood, it's a good idea to use a wood conditioner first. It helps with splotches and uneven staining. That piece is amazing 👏 especially the pull-out pieces.
Thank you so much for the compliment and advice. I’m still learning and info like this really helps me out and I appreciate it. I usually use wood conditioner but I ran out. Will have to grab some more. Thank you again.
@@CedarPineDesigns btw ash has a black wood grain that runs through it in a jagged kinda way. You did a fantastic job!
@@mcm.walnuter3479 thank you so much 🙏
Great job, so nice to see a restoration instead of these flippers who sand and then paint their projects.
Thank you so much. I do both depending on the piece
What a great piece and love the restoration!
Thank you so much Ashley. I truly appreciate your compliment.
The Lane Chest Company would be proud of you. You certainly did a super job bringing this chest into the 21st Century. Carol from California
Thank you so much. I’m glad you like it
Beautiful job on the new legs. The whole piece turned out gorgeous.
Thank you so much. I’m super proud of this piece and I’m glad you appreciate it. Take care.
Such a gorgeous finish. I like the contrast of the wood to the paper. ❤️
Thank you so much grumpy nanny. I really appreciate your kindness
I'm so glad you didn't paint this great cedar chest! It really looks beautiful now.
Thank you Paul and Carla. I just could bring myself to cover up that beautiful wood grain.
Just wow! Love that wood grain. Beautiful job.
Thank you so much Tiffany. I really appreciate your kindness and support
You did a beautiful job in the restoration of this piece. I like it best with just the plain wood
Thank you so much Lorraine. I appreciate your kindness and feedback. What I like is their removable for different looks.
Damn it looks so good with the black and gold inserts. Bravo.
Thank you brother
So lovely. Wish it was mine. Congratulations.
Thank you so much Tracy. I had to fight so hard not to keep it for myself.
That is sooooo cool that those little panels slide out!!! That is awesome!! The dark walnut is perfect!!! You saved this peice!!! Another awesome flip! Great job Samuel!
Thank you so much krafty. I’m flattered that you like this piece. I was so tempted to keep this one.
@@CedarPineDesigns i love ALL your pieces Samuel!! ❤️
@@thekraftycreech I’m flattered krafty. Thank you so much.
The wood grain on the trim and legs is stunning!! A beautiful job😊
Thank you so much Louise. That grain really was a pleasant surprise
Wow what a transformation I love the addition of the wallpaper and I love watching your videos

Samuel, you out did yourself on this piece. It came out beautiful! Your ideas are endless keep them coming.
Thank you so much David. I’m really appreciative. Your positivity means a lot to me and I definitely will keep these projects rolling out.
Awesome work on this one. Love the geo design
Thank you
Oh wow it looks GOOD!! Love the way you did the panels with the paper. Awesome job!
Thank you so much Pamela. I appreciate your kindness. What’s cool about the panels is that you can remove them or add another design to the back sore and have a completely new look.
Looks very nice❤,but the inserts I think is a bit much. Would have like to see the middle one’s painted and the others plain😊
Thank you for your input. They are removable and reversible
So beautiful. Just subscribed. Please ask the new owner to remove the installed lock and throw away while they wait for their replacement lock from Lane. Once the top drops there is no way to open from the inside and the chest is airtight. Tragedies occurred. I received my replacement lock in a few weeks.
Thank you so much for the support and info Rod. I really appreciate the advice and concern. I’ve been told before that there is a recall on the lock and have reached out to the new owner. Thank you again!!!!
You're welcome. Can't wait for your next video.
Such a beautiful piece keep up the good work !
Thank you brother
Samuel this is absolutely my favorite piece you've done, it turned out amazing!! Great job! You inspire me with ideas!!😀
Thank you so much deb. I’m glad you’re able to pull inspiration from my work. I’m flattered
👍👍👍
Thank you so much Ryberg.
Beautiful work! Please be sure to research the lock and be sure it has been changed out from the recalls, whenever I refinish one I detach the piece from the lid and put it in a ziploc taped inside the chest, not everyone replaced these locks and they are very dangerous to young children who love to play inside of them.
Thank you so much Jenna. I really appreciate your feedback and concern. I did reach out to the new owners and they are going to contact lane and get a replacement.
@@CedarPineDesigns that’s awesome, I love all your work!
@@jennajunkprincess8631 thank you so much
❤🔥
Thank you so much
Get rid of locks that auto lock when closed. Children have died getting in the chest, then the lid goes down and they suffocate from lack of oxygen! Almost happened to me at age 7, but my mom found me. When she lifted me out, my skin was full of blue/purple spots.
That’s very scary and unfortunate to hear. I’m glad you’re ok. I did let the buyer know and they ordered and new one through the lane recall
Love your channel! Wondering, when you work out your hourly rate in $ and its $72 an hour is that including your dry time while working on each piece?
Thank you so much. Yes, my time break down incudes dry time
I have one of these cedar chests and the top is the only area in need of refreshing. The top has water stains. (Shame on whoever did that! Probably my sister! ha) Is it possible to only refurnish the area on top and have it look good? I have never refinished furniture and I’m scared I’ll ruin it.
Hello tweetiebird, thank you for the question. You can definitely refinish the top alone to match the body. My only suggestion would be to use some sort of furniture wax to freshen up the body to make it match the freshly refinished top. If you have other questions or need some advice during the process, feel free to reach out and I will respond fairly quickly. Take care and stay safe.
To me, leaving the back and the bottom unfinished looks like shortcuts. Doing this would have given this video from me a thumbs up instead of a thumbs down even though the rest of the piece is beautiful.
Thank you so much for your feedback. Originally the back and bottom aren’t finished to begin with so I wanted to keep it as close to restored as possible. The inside isn’t finished either and this is because cedar doesn’t get a finish due to moths not liking the smell of it.
Did you find replacement? Company is now shut down and recall for locks are no more replaced. Idk where to get replacement, please advice if you find solution. Also what to use to glue top wood layer back on properly, there is larger separation on the back of my chest. And that fluffy green satin feel inside of a little drawer, can I somehow remove and redo that green soft texture please?
I relayed to the new owners so hopefully they got one before it was to late
The wallpaper is a hard no. Those insert pieces should have been restored as well.
Thank you for the feedback Angela. The insert pieces where made out of thin particle board to sanding would have ruined them. The wood pattern on them was a peel and stick style and not a veneer. I wish they had been at least veneer.
@@CedarPineDesigns if you had wanted to could you have added veneer to them? The piece looks terrific.
@@SUGR17 I thought about doing that but didn’t want to end up with something that didn’t match in color. Also, veneer is hard to get locally and I don’t think the pieces would have fit back into the slots.
I` sure by now you know that locks on cedar chests are illegal
Yes. I explained to the customer to get a recall lock when I sold it
