As an Italian I must say Italian food in Japan is like Japanese food in Italy, tasty but not really authentic.

it's probably because these restaurants offer unauthentic food in spite of the native's taste buds, or else it won't profit much. Because as much as our cultures stand differently, there will always be a lot of natives that will be picky when it comes to food, particularly if it doesn't tastes right.

yes! snails are mostly eaten in France, but in Spain we eat them as well! we directly get the whole snail and just get it out with a stick, and normally we dip it in "alioli" which is garlic flavoured mayo :)

hahaha I've been there in Taiwan and didn't know at the time it's a Japanese chain restaurant. I hated it at first because I was expecting italian food but when you know it's the Japanese version of Italian food, I actually started liking it a bit more. It is indeed very cheap!

Yes in italy we eat intestines but the only thing that I remind for only is panino al lampredotto or simply lampredotto its from tuscany and its so good!

When we visited Tokyo, the first restaurant we visited was Saizeriya and it was actually my favorite restaurant!! I loved their pastas and pizza. I didn’t know people thought it was disgusting 😭😭😭
in Spain we actually eat snail I’ve never tried them because they look gross 😭

I Loveee Saizeriya in Singapore, but people say they are microwave food
My mom’s sicilian and my dad is Bajan but i spent alot of summers with my nonna in sicily and from my experience the ingredients used aren’t all that different but the execution is. Like i grew up eating hella anchovies but i’ve never had an anchovy salad dressing in Italy. All that being said i haven’t traveled to every part of sicily and italy so i might just be missing something.

We eat something similar here in Canada, Although it’s not intestinal stew, It’s like a intestinal lining of the cow, Or the intestine itself & it’s cleaned very well, It’s called Tripe, I have had it before, I prefer not to eat it as much as I like cow tongue with carrots & spuds better 😅
