Awesome striper video, Elias. People don't realize how many skunker scouting trips it takes to pull off a video worthy trip, especially in areas where you dont fish a lot. That spot is extremely unforgiving when it comes to baits touching the bottom. Thousands of dollars worth of jig heads in that lumber. I think I saw your buddy Zach headed down there this morning. He has a blue / green old town and a Toyota pickup? Took a half day off work today and hit L&D 1. Pulled my kayak right up against the lock gate and jigged a few clone army stripers and a handful of crappie. White perch haven't shown up there yet. Only a few shad guys were fishing, but they were catching.
No matter what the conditions, you always work to find fish and entice them. Mad props to you again, Elias!
I agree. This early spring period can be my most inconsistent time of year. Have to keep my eye peeled to that all important water temperature.
Seemed like a great day for you? I just watched Justin at kayak catfish use your paddle tail jigs and livescope to target and catch suspended catfish. Btw, I no longer say I’m “jig fishing”; I now use the E technique to vertical fish!

I came out my coveralls twice yesterday and had them back on in 10 minutes, lol.
Another month and I'll be on big numbers of striper in the upper roanoke. throwing flukes in Heavy current, lots of rocks, tight schools and the possibility of 50 fish days. You need to head up one day when the bite is hot.
Dude I've been feeling the itch here in Philly. It's been pretty warm as of late and there have been some ok fish caught already on the Schuylkill and the stripers will be on the Deleware soon then the bluefin start. Then it's summer 😂. My weekend have been spent getting my new boat ready. It's a 1968 runabout 17 that I'm restoring just about everything on

Nice mixed bag. I live in SW Fl and the cold and wind is killing us. Mostly after Ian rolled thru it rapped all the grass from the flats and no structure left. It's been hit and miss down here but I am limited for access w my kayak.

Just ordered some of those Barefoot jigs, should be great for jigging for black sea bass.
25-30 water 200 yds up. Fish left and center. Trocar swim bait hooks with blade spinner and 5" softbait plastic in. 5" bomber cast
under bridge and right side cast back against current. Caught a 30" there last year . Chatter bait works well there too.
Had an inshore slam here in Charleston this past weekend... the flounder are already back

Get yourself some mirrolures and get shallow brother. I dont know if ive ever seen you throw a mirrolure. Get a suspending MR17 with the printed mullet skin. Slow way down and let your bait float through the strike zone and hang on. It the best way to feel the strike
There are some great suspending xraps that work great on stripers, too. Caught a few on them last week in some creeks off of the river he was in. But yeah, suspending mirrrolures are a deadly multispecies weapon, especially in the brackish water he's fishing.
Another great video, was amazed at how shallow you were picking those fish up they were coming up right away. Do you not find fish get put off when you're jigging right under the kayak?
Kayak can jig in 10’ or so. On a boat they’ll get put off easier

Generally speaking these act like back bay stripers in most saltwater environments I’ve fished. They don’t tend to be in the 30’-50’ stuff very frequently like ocean strain ones. They also don’t migrate like Chesapeake or Hudson ones do so you generally won’t see “runs” of them.

Have those trick jig-heads had an effect on the number, or severity, of snags?
Haven’t notice that much of a difference in that department. However I get more bites on a pause in current under the kayak with them.

Check the intercoastal angler, I heard they had some.
Like Dave Sorenson said, Intracoastal usually does. Seaview crab used to have them, and Island Tackle at CB might have them. Motts Channel seafood at WB used to. Call around, between all these places, someone has them.
With so many breakoffs, why don't you use tactical angler clips? Have you ever used them, do they affect your lures / plastics?

Dont wanna speak for E, but it's only half a mile from where he's at so you can draw your own conclusions. They built a kayak launch on the pier, so you don't have to put in at the old landing that dries up at low tide.

I’m from Norfolk too. Been doing some surf fishing with no luck so far. Down in Florida now and went fishing three days straight and all I have to show for it is one Spanish Mackerel and a 1/2 dozen pin fish who kept trying to steal my live shrimp.

We don’t have sharks in the winter for the most part.
