Best sounding V6 in the industry, 335 horsepower in the 6th generation Camaro and with You Tubers posting times of 0 to 60 at 4.9 to 5.1 seconds and at a price of $28,000 pretty nice.

azel6 I have a 2012 Impala with 120K and it still runs like new. No startup noises or rattles. I enjoy blowing the doors off most of the other junk that is out there. This motor has a ton of torque especially in the 40 to 85 mph range. The lfx snaps your head back at full throttle. I almost daily thrash mine and it loves it. Gotta blow the carbon off of those intake valves.

Same here Richard. Every 3 to 5k miles on mine. No problems whatsoever. The timing chain problems you see on you tube are mostly caused by people not changing their dino oil. If anything, mine has more power than when I bought it 5 years ago. Fantastic engine!

Yeah, good when it's new maybe, put anything up to about 200,000 km (about 125,000 miles) and this bloody thing will either choke on it's own poo or grind itself to death courtesy of the truly infamous levels of timing chain stretch rattle and bang. Not a good engine in the real world because it can't (won't?) even run to factory mandated oil change intervals which were 15,000 km over here (a bit over 9,000 miles) and instead it needs to be babied and fussed over like a lame dog to even survive normal driving. Why the hell should we have to change oil every 5,000 km (3000 miles) and flush the stupid thing too just so it wont fucking shit itself. Yes it sounds good for a V6 (unless you put a farty exhaust on it, in which case it sounds fucked) and the torque is pretty good (I guess?) but this is not a good engine. Unless you maintain it with truly obsessive levels of care and attention it won't live

    • @pjimmbojimmbo1990

I had a 2008 STS with the LLT, and at about 120,000km the Timing Chains had to be replaced. GM recalibrating of the OLM, resulting in a 2% drop in Oil Life, just by driving it 5 blocks when the Temps got near Freezing, so the Car was Parked from Oct till late April. My old 95 Buick, had longer Oil Life, and it wasn't even Speced for Synthetic Oil, than this STS

40,000 miles on ours, still running like a top. its a 2014 so im sure all the defects are gone. The biggest problem is people running the engines to long with no oil change. Also being an 11.5 to 1 compression 87 octane will fuck any engine of that compression. The engine needs 91 octane or higher.

The 2010 and up 3.6 GMs are junk and yards sell them easily for $2,600.00.GM turns down warranty work if proof of oil changes are not shown.Seen this with a 2010 Traverse with 75,000 miles on it.Bottom end went out and the customers bought it used from a new car dealer.Still have the old engine out of it.It is the GM version of the Chrysler 2.7 V6.

The older version does have timing chain problems.Includes piston and the tone ring on the crankshaft. The tone ring will move and set a code turning the check engine light on.Fix is to replace the crankshaft.Welding it back in place where it belongs is a no no,warps it and causes problems. The older versions 2007 to 2009 are cheaper to buy used,up to $900.00 used.I have seen the upgraded pistons Jasper Engines and Transmissions makes inhouse for the GM 3.6,my dad is a Jasper dealer and the rep showed it to us.

Sad head of company that has read off a piece of paper..I hope this engine is not piece of junk like the i5 engines were with cyl head problems ....GM should have covered this problem up too 150,000 miles and 10 years like Ford did on their engine known problems..Lots of talk TIME will tell if the v-6 has KNOWN problems ..GM stand behind your KNOWN problems with 10 year 150,000 mile warranty do not just say OH YOU ARE OVER WARRANTY BY 1 YEAR EVEN THO YOU HAVE ONLY 40,000 MILES..Terrible way to do a business..
