To everyone commenting about why they didn't mention Pimento from Brooklyn 99, this came out before he appeared on Brooklyn 99.

Pimento isn't a scumbag, he's just insane. Then there's Derek, who's just great.

No. Pimento is broken. there's a difference. ....well to be fair, in the later seasons he is insane. But... the original character of pimento was somebody who was a police officer that was sent into the proverbial belly of the beast, who had to handle every task at hand (which, when you're in a criminal organization is an exceptionally heavy objective). He became broken, and unfit for modern life, via the exceptionally terrible things he went through. That doesn't make a man crazy. A crazy man might tear a pack of wolves limb from limb, which he claimed to do in season 8, instead of simply allowing them to den in his diamond mine that he was going to destroy either way. This kind of writing is called, inconsistent, and is generally thought of as bad.
And I heard from league interviews he is actually a really nice guy
He doesn't even drink and didn't try marijuana until he was 36 years old. He's pretty far from Rafi and most of the characters he plays. He's just so good at playing crazy that these kinds of roles get written with him in mind.
In the good place, he's actually pretty DEREK
It is by far the most DEREK of all his roles.

To everyone asking "What about Pimento?" He didn't appear on B99 until about a month after this interview, meaning it'd be impossible to mention here.

I guess this is before Pimento became a thing? And certainly before Derek (from The Good Place). He definitely has a certain category of characters he plays.
Why isn't the studio audience laughing more?? I thought it was hilarious.
Idk what it is but it seems like Seth's audience is way less enthusiastic than any other talk show
Or just poorly mic'd or low in the sound mix. You'd be surprised how much of a difference that makes. It's really hard to find the sweet spot between making them sound bored and making them sound like a forced laugh track.
He is great as the Gray One in Housebroken.
Yeah, I. Glad they gave him Pimento to after this, crazy with PTSD but a good guy, just with no limits. Maybe his next role he can be some sort of redeemed hero. And no drugs to break that typecasting.
He makes a reallly reallly great character what ever scumbag role he takes on. Superb actor.
